I got a quote online and have to say they are $10 cheaper a month than Woolworths insurance. Anyone got any feedback on what they are like?

Signing up for a long-term, recurring expense based on any upfront paybacks is never a great idea. I'd rather save lots more than $50 a year, rather than a once off $50 payment.

When it comes to insurance, do you're homework and compare a bunch of prices, then get on the phone and push them for an even better price.

For $50 they're basically just giving you some of the money they would have spent on a single Google or Facebook Ad conversion.

I'm shopping around again as the policy is up for renewal. Woolworths Insurance have been great. I did a claim a couple of years ago and the process was so easy. They send lots of emails and videos with updates on the process. Plus you can't beat the 10% off shopping once a month and discounted gift cards. The only thing I'm annoyed with is how the policy went up after a storm and somehting fell on my car and bloke the window. I wasn't at fault. It made the policy go up quiet a bit.

    • So it’s no deal?

Good point. For insurance their ability to actually come through with the goods is vital. Need to strike a balance of price, coverage and customer service.

Personally I've been doing well with Youi for a few years. Have made multiple claims which have always been handled well (driving country roads daily leads to that, get a rock hitting my windscreen hard enough to chip or crack it almost every year), and I've managed to get a good price every year when I call them about pricing.

I have found most companies offer $50 off or a gift card when you do a quote (giving them your email) and leaving it for a day or two. Without fail they will send you a reminder about the quote.

I went with Budget Direct in June last year and got a $60 gift card just by not going through with the quote until they've sent me to incentivised reminder.

Budget Direct have gift cards a few times a year, and I found their car quotes to be cheapest.
They tried to weasel out of the black Friday gift card promotion on me, but one complaint to AFCA and they came to the party very quickly.

  • lol. i paid $600 with NRMA.

BUPA wants $1300 for the same car

  • I was quoted $1800 with Bupa. $670 with AAMI. No deal!

  • so pay $900 more than what I am paying now and get $50 - Wow !

  • Poor product and high premium. $300 more than virgin
