Just a heads up that this is only 75hz

    • +1

Since when did people stop assuming 60hz unless stated otherwise?

      • +2

At this price they may think it is 144hz…

  • +2

Why not getting Dell S3422DWG or Xiaomi one?

    • +7

exactly, this is 2019 low-end panel, don't see how this is "very good deal" at all.

    • agreed, with that price should be getting this S3422DWG

  • Dell is much better, I’m eying on P3421W with USB-C waiting for it to come down in price.

  • Nearly $600 and not even close to 144hz yikes..

  • +5

Priced like something far higher specs.. showing its age this monitor

    • -4

Personal opinion is not a reason to neg a deal

      • +7

No but the price compared to what you get is. Many many monitors with higher specs and reviewed well for less or similar price is also plenty reason to neg

        • -5

No, it is not. Maybe someone is after exactly this screen. For whatever reason. Unless you can find it cheaper elsewhere it is not a reason to neg it.

          • +5

@dosada: I didn't think you understand how this works. Sorry I hurt your feelings.

Plain and simple we try to help others make informed smart choices. If you were in the market for an ultrawide and had all the choices you do and you could say honestly you would see this as a deal and buy it then upvote.

            • -5

@quikstix: I haven't upvoted it because i think it is a crappy deal, however, the site has rules when a negative vote is allowed and your reasons are not part of them.

          • +14

@dosada: If you look at the product tag
            https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/samsung-ls34j550wqexxy

You can see this monitor was as low as $358.02

You can currently buy it for $538.16 using coupon code PJAN22 from this eBay seller

However, for the $549 price point you can get a much newer model Dell s3422dwg which has 144hz refresh rate and some nice USB 3.2 Gen1 IO ports. There's also no height adjustments on the Samsung, the stand is very basic.

            • -6

@scrimshaw: I have never said it was a good deal. I have just said that the negative vote does not meet the site's criteria.

However, the PJAN22 is an eBay plus code and not fair to compare to this.

              • +5

@dosada: I referenced price did I not? I wasn't as specific as scrimshaw but it's all part of what I'm getting at.

PS thanks for that detail Scrimshaw

Edit: I should also have mentioned I bought one almost a year ago at under 390 ish and sold it on within a few months. May have helped you understand my vote better

              • +9

@dosada: I have never seen someone defending a bad deal with so many bad arguments. Congratulation.

                "Give me a better deal"

                "Here it is cheaper"

"Haain, ebay code does not count, try again"

                Cringest situation in years.

                • +1

                  @Dienk: Very well said

                • @Dienk: im actually wondering "what exactly is the rule of negging a deal"? of all the defending posts above i haven't seen the exact rule in question.

                  • +1

@Tyler Kwok: I wasn’t familiar with the voting rules (actually called guidelines), so I looked them up. I don’t think there’s a succinct section to quote, but dosada’s interpretation of the rules as written seems correct to me. Where that’s how the rules are generally understood and applied, I have no idea.

                    Here’s a link to the voting guidelines/rules:
                    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines

I don’t mean to make any judgment on this particular deal, or the rules themselves (either as written or as commonly applied). I just found it interesting to learn that there are quite extensive guidelines on this topic.

You can buy the same model at lower price
You can get a better product with the same price
Btw Samsung is not a good brand. I had a few Samsung product and all of them ended up faulty no long after the warrant year. They are good at making tech craps

  • I have both this model and a previous version and in my opinion they are good office/business monitors. The previous model I purchased back in 2019 and is still going strong and we just purchased this model for my wife who is working from home. A lot of other monitors of this size/price range do not have USB-C which we wanted as we hot swap laptops between us frequently. 75hz isn't the best but I don't really game anymore so I don't really care/don't really notice.

    • +1

Yes its suitable for office but not at this price point now however.

  • Any one using or had experience with Dell P3421W? I'm looking for a home office use with USB-C.

  • +1

Don't buy this unless its sub $400. This is not worth.
