Amex offers are becoming less and less useful. Whereas Westpac and CommBank have better offers now
Example: I have spend $100 on New Balance and get $30 on Westpac

Time to cancel Amex explorer me thinks

Prior to Xmas, I thought I had the best collection of offers I've had in years with AMEX. Its only been a few weeks since then and I also don't really have any attractive deals right now but will wait for a month or two before possibly thinking about closing my AMEX Ultimate account.

  • If only Sony sells PS5 on its online store…

    • Excludes any online Sony store purchases

      • “Offer valid at Australian locations and website only.“ Strange that how to purchase on Sony website if it is an online store?
Edit: did it mean purchases from PlayStation store excluded?

  • come on amex, wheres the 500 get 100

    • Or the time they had 150 back of 600 and 50 back on 300 at the same time. Got a sweet deal then

Was thinking it's about time, but $50 credit on camera gears is very week. Hope some decent cashback from Sony is coming soon.

    • The cashback just finished so you may be waiting a while

      • Just wishful thinking. The camera I am interested in won't be part of the cashback. :|

        • I take it its the A1 or A7s. I'm hoping the a1 drops to reasonable prices. Lowest at the moment is about 7k which is hard to justify if you are not a professional

          • @qvinto: Can't justify A1, interested in A9ii. It got to $5,500 in recent times. Not sure if it can get under $5k this year.

            • @browser: I'd just get used a9, should be under 3k. Trivial differences compared to the mark II. Since it's mostly an electronic shutter camera there is not much that can go wrong so i think it's low risk buying used. I've been using the a9 for last 4 years and i have not felt a need to upgrade (although a1 would of course be nice) . Have a a7r4 currently to test and I think I still prefer the a9 due to the better AF and lag free viewfinder.

Also the a9 II seems like a rip off. I paid about 3500 new for my a9

            • @browser: Keep an eye on Sony seconds, sometimes it pops up. Stack with 5-10% discount code if the timing is right, along with discounted eBay GCs. You can get it for less than $5k.

Thanks OP, got a great deal on WH-1000XM4 headphones.

    RRP: $399
Cashrewards 10% cashback (excluding GST): $36.27 (already tracked)
    Amex Cashback: $50 (already tracked)

Total cost: $312.73 which I think is a very decent price for WH-1000XM4 (without using Afterpay etc in the past eBay deals)

    • If I was buying this from Sony store, I would first request price match a cheaper AU store like https://www.pcbyte.com.au/p/sony-wh-1000xm4-wireless-noise-c… selling them for $369. That would take the out of pocket cost below $300.

      • Not sure whether price match will be tracked by Cashrewards or not so didn't take any chance. Thanks for the advise though

        • Yes they did track and paid from my previous experience.

        • +1

It should track, they just add it to your cart at the matched price. No code involved.

      • so what's the procedure here?

        1. ask Sony to price match
        2. use cashrewards
        3. Sony put item in cart
        4. use Amex to pay

        Like this?

        • +3
          1. Have a Sony account
          2. Add item to cart
          3. Ask price match
          4. Sony notifies approval
          5. Activate CR on web site
          6. Pay with Amex.

@Buy2Much: Just this this. Thanks man

            price matched $ 369
            Cashrewards: $ 33.55
            Amex: $50

            Total: $285.45 NICE!

          • -2

@Buy2Much: Excludes any online Sony store purchases
Excludes transactions made through a third party establishment or payment processor

Good luck buying from Sony store and using CR !!

            • +1

              @Squeezy: I think you misunderstood the T&Cs.

Excludes any online Sony store purchases

              Where does it say that?

Excludes transactions made through a third party establishment or payment processor

That has alway been the case with Amex/Sony offers, as well as other stores too, I am sure. They'd expect you to pay directly using the Amex card that has the offer, not through third party processor like Paypal, Apple Pay etc.

Anyway they are T&Cs for Sony/Amex cashback deal. They are not T&Cs for CR cashback!

    • what do you mean? 399- 10%= 359.1 - $50 cashback should be = $309.1?

      • Cashrewards cashback excludes GST
