  Assuming there is a usb c to barrel type cable available somewhere, would these be able to charge an Acer Nitro 5?

    no, usb-c requires controller chips to negotiate the voltages sent through the cable.

    in addition the acer nitro 5 would use too much power for a single usb-c connection to supply reliably

  Technically its only 65 W at max, not 100W @ USB C (even if only using 1 USB C port only)

    It never said it could do 100W, just that it comes included with a 100W PD capable USB C cable.
