Yep multiple did. Hex polarized had only 1/3 types available. Similar on a few others

Reckon Quay is just waiting AO to be over and do a mass cancellation so there is no recourse?
No way Quay will ship them

    • Probably 2 minutes before close of business on Friday.

      • Correct. Cancellation Email received 6.32pm

  • still nothing…not looking good in my view

    • Might look better if you were wearing the glasses yeah?

  • Looking forward to my $5 shades.

    Got the cancellation email:

Unfortunately we are unable to process your order, due to unauthorized use of the promotion. A fraudulent code has been used.

    PS. I only ordered 1

    • +28

"Fraudulent code". Probably not the smartest language.

No issue with the cancellation but didn't like getting that phrase in the inbox.

      • +24

Absolutely agree, shows what kind of management works there to approve such language. Blaming others for their own incompetence.

I don't like how they called it a "fraudulent code" as though it's our fault. They're the one's that created the code, distributed it and allowed it to be accepted. If they think people who hear about a code online aren't going to try it, they're deluded. I'm cool with them not accepting it, but seem like a bunch of halfwits IMO.

      • +1

        You fraudster!

        • It means a lot coming from you.

  • +3

LOL just got the rejection email.
I scrambled to order and chose a cheap ugly pair… pressure!

  • And to the surprise of no one, there's the cancellation email.

Thank you for your recent order with Quay.

  • Order cancelled… "Unfortunately we are unable to process your order, due to unauthorized use of the promotion. A fraudulent code has been used"

  • +3

I just received teh cancellation email. Oh well. If they had honoured it, they would have won a new customer. Now I will avoid.

  • +13

I think we need to sign up to a class action and take them to court to honour this deal now that they have cancelled.

    • +5

I think we have a chance! They will struggle to prove that a code they issued and accepted is fraudulent as fraudulent is the reason for cancellation

  • Cancelled order 😅

  • +26

A fraudulent code. haha spare me the melodrama.

I just hope it's cost them plenty of labour time sorting this mess out. Rightfully so.

Email isn't grammatically correct, so probably an overseas company or subsidiary thereof.

  • +9

Just got the inevitable cancellation email. “Unauthorised use of the promotion. A fraudulent code has been used”. Interesting way to say “we screwed up”.

  • +13

"Fraudulent code", spare me the violin. Definitely could have worded it better

  • Just got cancelled :

Would be great to know the real T&C's for the code. Big call to say "fraudulent"? Guess their marketing team is better at wording cancellation emails than running promotions.

    • +6

Fraudulent top kek. Yeah we made a code for our own website but now we will classify it as fraudulent….

  • +3

    I replied to them.
I said I will be marching to the Port Melbourne head offices with pitch forks demanding it be honoured..

  • Just received an email saying "Thank you for your recent order with Quay.
Unfortunately we are unable to process your order, due to unauthorized use of the promotion. A fraudulent code has been used.

  • +24

If they'd owned up to their mistake I'd quite happily move on. Very disappointed they've decided to claim all of us are frauds.

    • +5

      Exactly. Horrible wording.

  • +5

    fraudulent code

Great, now I'm being done for fraud

    • +1

Hopefully nobody on bail or parole jumped on this deal. Heavy sweating intensifies.

  • +4

I don't think that word means what you think it means Quay Australia

  • +6

They probably could've worded their email better than they did. This reads slightly worse than them telling me they couldn't honour the code/order, cause at least that would be honest and more accurate.

  • +5

    fraudulent- adjective
obtained, done by, or involving deception, especially criminal deception.
    "fraudulent share dealing"
unjustifiably claiming or being credited with particular accomplishments or qualities.
    "fraudulent psychics"
    Similar:
    dishonest
    cheating
    swindling

Quay Australia dug themselves a hole on this one and pinned it back on us. Definitely lost many of us as a future customer with that wording in the email.

  • I can see how AOFREE is pretty misleading…….

  • +13

Meh, we knew there was a slim to no chance of this being honoured.

However in saying that, their communication and wording in the email is abysmal. An apology would have gone a long way instead of calling those who used a promo code that was created and approved by them as frauds.

Make sure you update your name and email address if you used real details in the unsubscribe button so your details can be deleted from their marketing spam in future.

I changed my email to [email protected] :P

    • Wonder if they bothered deleting all the OzBargainer details from "fraudulent" marketing spam

Used a PO box and email alias?

  • +2

Knew it. cancelled all orders and are now running another promotion "buy one get one free"
    possible bait and switch?

    • +2

The buy one get one free was running at the time of AOFREE.

  • +2

Hopefully they will be going to the police to find out who issued this 'fraudulent' code.

    I hope justice is swift!

  • +11

Canceled due to ‘fraudulent code’. How is it fraudulent if they created it for their site?

    • -4

Fraudulent sharing and use of the code

      • +1

how do you get your codes? I search for them online. Have you ever considered whether EVERY code you've ever used is for the purpose that you're entering it? C'mon be real.

  • +9

Even though I expected cancellation, their poor wording has ensured I never buy there.

  • +12

Fraudulent! Wow. Goodbye Quay, you'll never see me again.

    • You'll be back! They all will.

  • +1

Haha cancelled! With ‘bad vibes’ not good.

  • +1

This reminds me of Harris Technology last time they screwed up and shifted the blame

  • I tried to reply and got the following error message. Have they blocked me?

Your message to [email protected] couldn't be delivered.

  • +17

I was totally expecting a cancellation email yesterday which didn't happen, not a horribly worded email that calls me fraudulent and then has the balls to say I can make another order with them. Talk about making a mistake and then making an even bigger one by offending what 20,000 people? Idiots :(

    • At least they didn't expose our emails like Jacob Dropcoffee

  • +1

Lol “unauthorised” and “fraudulent” on their behalf or mine?

“If you would like to place another order…” is where I stopped reading.

  • +3

I sent an email to [email protected] asking them to delete all my personal information, I would suggest everybody do the same.

  • +1

    [email protected]

    If you’d like to reply

  • +3

Going to neg just because of wrong wordings in their email

    • It will be changed to forum thread due to unobtainable deal

    • If that makes you feel better, go for it.

  • Hahaha well it was worth a try wasn't it.

  • +7

I feel bad for the few people who won a free pair of sunnies at the AO, ordered using the code they were given, then got accused of fraud. They must be so confused right now.

    • I think if you contact Quay and claimed this happened they will give you a new unique code

  • +9

F them for calling it "fraudulent" - they're the ones who stuffed up, don't blame us for your mistake.

But as others have said - just shows their colours, doesn't it? It's always someone else's fault, no doubt.

i didn't order anything but from the look of their "cancellation" email above,
it sounded more like a threatening letter; you guys stuffed them up and should be ashamed.

  • A faster way to contact them and ???

  • +1

Any comments of disgust on their social media pages?

  • +1

Wow not even a heavy discount offer just the ‘we have the buy one get one free’ offer.

    Nahhhhh

  • +1

    We're all frauds now lol

  • -5

Just an update guys.. I received an email this morning saying that my Order is been cancelled due to unauthorised use of the code.. What the hell…! Very disappointed

  • +2

Contacted the customer care email to give them a rundown on email etiquette and got an automated response from 'US Customer Care' (probably not based in AU then) stating: "Please be patient with us we’re experiencing higher than normal volume." They must be feeling the almighty wrath of OzBargain!

    • +2

They used to be based in Aus but a US company bought them

  • the cancellation we had to happen…

  • +2

they accused me of fraud…how rude!

  • +1

Hmm email doesn’t say all personal details will be deleted.

  • Am I the only one who didn't get a cancellation email? Checked my spam folder as well and nothing

  • I think it's only fair that OP 'nutcase' gets to have right of reply of being accused of sharing a "fraudulent code"!

  • +7

Received a different cancellation email on a second email/order placed. Maybe they got the memo about not accusing their customers of fraud.

    Hi David,
    Some news about your order…
    WE WERE ABLE TO
    CANCEL YOUR ORDER
    and payment has been voided.
We're sorry that things didn't work out, but we're sure we'll catch you on the sunny side.

    • +2

Just got this one as well, 8 hours after the 'fraud' one. Bizarre choices from the Quay team all round.

      • +1

Starting to feel like their system for all of this is terrible and they can’t handle that type of volume. They panicked and handled it all the wrong way.

  • +3

I just got a “We were able to cancel your order” email, tonally as if I’d asked them to cancel and they’re doing me a favour. No prior emails about “fraudulent” code use… anyone else the same?

    • +1

Yeah same. No “fraud” email. My wife got that one though but the cancellation just came through. “We were able to cancel” lol. I did do 2 seperate ones though, so we’ll see what happens. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Edit: lol rip 2nd one just refunded now. I didn’t care as I expected this to be refunded but seeing the “fraud” email just rubs me the wrong way.

    • +1

Yep I got the same as you.

What a garbage company. Got the cancelled email. Can't downvote this deal cos it's been moved. Weak.

  • +5

Everyone should post your feelings on their Google/Facebook reviews section

  • Maybe Trevor Long could write an article about it?

  • +5

Left my negative reviews on trustpilot and productreview. I did my job 👍 you all should too.
