  • Hi, would this apply to new connections (not switching from another provider) or not? Thanks.

  • I need a gas supplier, do they do credit checks??? plz help

    • Just switched my Gas to Alinta, they stated they will do a credit check.

      • awwwwwwww

      • How do we find out what suppliers do credit checks? Is there a site or a webpage or something somewhere? Or just read the fine prints for each?

  • +1

Already with Alinta Energy. Do you have another offer for a different supplier?

    • If you are already with the Alinta plan on our platform you aren't eligible, however if you are on a different plan and change then you will be able to get the $200 voucher

      • Yeah I applied through your offer previously. Still waiting for energy offers from a different supplier as I missed out the Dec 21 offer with Lumo.

  • I was with Alinta less than 12 months ago can you confirm if I'd still be eligible for this promotion? Thanks OP

    • Yes, you are able to take up the offer. So long as you are switching or upgrading

  • How do prices compare against origen etc ?

    • +1

Origin has increased their gas rates [VIC] recently. Thinking to move away from them

    • +1

For Vic Alinta have some of the cheapest supply charges. With their usage charge I think they came in 3rd cheapest behind Tango.

      • Who was the third competitor?

        • +1

          Can't remember, sorry

Edit: Note: Tango is owned by China's state owned SPIC.

          • +1

@sween64: If you're trying to find an Energy retailer that is not foreign owned, you'll need to look elsewhere. Alinta Energy is also a Chinese owned company, same as EnergyAustralia and there are plenty more.

            This link might help.

@Cousin IT: From my research Alinta is owned by a private Hong Kong conglomerate. I settled for finding a provider that isn’t owned by the Chinese government.

Edit: Canstar agrees with the research I made; Wikipedia.

Edit 2: For me this was for gas. Electricity I’m with Energy Locals.

  • I just left these clowns before Xmas.

    • +1

      Mate - they're all clowns.
This is an unnecessarily complicated industry.

  • The electricity rates used to be pretty good but not sure on the gas though. $200 is pretty decent though even if you just sell them at 10% off and use it as a credit should be pretty competitive, Seems you only need to stay for at least 30 days although it might take 120 days to get the vouchers?? Might need to double check that but it does say not eligible if you port within 30days so I assume that's all that's required?

    • +1

These offers usually get a lot of people to bite, but if you research a bit further you'll find that they're putting you on a particular plan that is usually more expensive that what you can get by going direct to the retailer. You'll end up paying more in the long run.

Best bet is to check https://www.energymadeeasy.gov.au/. You can check what plans are offered to you, and you can either sign up online or call the retailer and negotiate an even better deal. YMMV though.

  • Hi I just signed up via link but notice the email confirmation from econnex does not mention the woolies giftcard is this correct??

    • +1

Yes how do we know if we are going to get it. After 4 months we might not get anything. Is there a number to call to confirm? Do we call Econnex or Alinta?

      • Hi There, the giftcards are offered by Econnex so they will be able to confirm your eligibility. You can always email them at [email protected]

  • I got this “ Unfortunately your selections have resulted in no available offers”

  • +3

Warning Alinta is a Chinese owned company. I'd urge you to support an Australian owned company if you can.

    • +1

      Fair enough.
Is there an Australian owned company that is cheaper/offering more Woolies gift card though?

  • For anyone in SA Lumo is Australian owned and their rewards programme is very generous giving discounted gift cards and the discount is still very good than any other rewards . Their rates might not be the cheapest in market though. But it’s AUSTRALIAN OWNED.

  • +1

OP, am I eligible for the Woolworths gift card if I sign up to this Alinta plan using your webiste that is redirected from Cashrewards i.e. am i eligible for cashback plus Woolworths gift card.

    • Yeah, good Question, will it stack?

      • +1

Ok, so I had a try and can't work out how to use the Woolworths website using a redirect from Cashrewards, so it's unlikely there's a way to stack them

        • Yes, page links are different. Hence I raised that question.

    • Hi, unfortunately both the Cashrewards and this deal are not able to be used in conjunction with each other.

  • Apparently for my address in concord 2137 NSW. I can't just switch gas only. Have to switch both electricity and gas. Can I switch gas only?

    • Same issue in VIC.

  • What are their rates for VIC?

    • +1

Was about 18.9c p/kWh & 88c daily charge for me in Jemena but I have a concession and don't use much electricity so the daily charge is kinda irrelevant for me but I think 88c is pretty competitive although not the best, 18c Range for usage is about as good as it gets although you might find 0.1c better. Gas was 79c daily and 2.3c/1.9c peak/off-peak.
But you'd better do your own search as prices differ quite significantly depending on your zone ie Jemena/Powercorp ect ect I'm in Jemena/Ausnet Inner West Melbourne

      • Thanks! I couldn't find the rates online so I ended up calling them.

  • I tried using this to switch to Alinta but it doesn't appear as one of the options to switch to. Located in VIC. Perhaps this offer was location specific?

    • I'm in VIC and could do it. However, it would only allow me when choosing both electricity and gas, not only one of them.

  • Hi OP, any more of these deals coming soon? I'm shopping around for electricity and just noticed this deal has expired.

    • +1

Hi There, we have new deals every month. Keep an eye out as there should be something coming soon.

      • Looking forward to a new energy deal as I am keen to switch (eg Lumo).
