  • out of curiosity - brushless vs no brushless - i believe it is difference in battery ( i could be wrong).
is there a hugh difference in performance of a device?

    • +2

It's for the longevity of the tool/motor as well

      • The concept of longevity of the motor is a bit of a laff when you are talking about a tool that will fail somewhere else (probs a dozen other places) long before the motor will ever have a chance to, trust me…

    • +3

The difference is in the motor design (and the other relevant parts of the tool to accommodate the different motor).
The performance difference can be huge. 99% of the time in favour of the brushless.

    • +2

In theory brushless motors are much longer lasting (but that doesn't mean the brushed motors can't last for a long time) as they don't use a 'brush' (basically a stick of graphite) which rubs on the motor to conduct electricity, and instead use a rotating magnetic field which does not contact the motor and therefore does not wear out.

    • +1

Nothing to do with the battery.
You can use the same battery on a brushed tool.

      The electric motor is brushless.
The end result is more torque and marginal efficiency gain. Battery will last maybe 10% longer.

Anyone know if this charger can charge the green 18v batteries?

    • Nah it can't they are a completely different shape

2 piece combo? Thought this was a KFC deal.

    • No, bosch

240 comments, 0 deals posted and you downvote this deal because a store chose not to take a loss and provide you an obvious pricing error. You’re a real piece of work

        • +7

Alternatively i just think someone who gives nothing back to Ozbargain community shouldn't be sooking because a business chose not to honor an obvious pricing error

            • +7

@OzBaggins: I dont think anyone reasonable would say a pricing error that you required a VPN to access said pricing error, that wasnt honored deserves a neg vote months later on a separate deal. Perhaps you could try posting a deal of your own just once?

@donkcat: ??? How do you know his not from WA??? Seems like you're a stalker mate

      • @OzBaggins
        @donkcat

Alright guys, please break it up.

I am downvoting due to the spate of unfulfilled orders that many people are experiencing. My comments are nothing to do with pricing errors in the past.
If enough people have their redemption filled I will withdraw my neg vote.

    • Welcome to "<total> tools"

Whatever you do, don’t get delivery, they used Aramex for me and it took 6 weeks to get it (same state).

Unfortunately I already have a Bosch blue impact driver and battery.

Nice! So just to confirm, 4x batteries all up??

  • Anyone know if you can get a converter to use these blue batteries on the green tools? I've got some green tools and these would come in handy.

Can’t find the reverse, but guess you don’t need it.

Total tools has canceled my orders several times for no reasons. I wouldn't rely on them.

  • Just makita a couple of months ago, would've liked this better :/

  • Looking for some assistance deciphering the main difference between the drills included in these two packs:

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/bosch-blue-18v-brushless-2-piece…

    https://www.totaltools.com.au/172136-bosch-18v-brushless-2-p…

I've got a bunch of bunnings credit and they don't have the same Total Tools pack and if the drills are otherwise the same I'd prefer the hard case in the Total Tools kit.

Thanks OP. Rolled the dice… Ordered Tue & got it delivered Thu. Redeemed 2 x extra batteries online too which has been approved + got an email confirming up to 8 weeks for delivery. Pretty quick & painless. Was a bit worried with all the Total Tools cancellation comments above. Anyways, the drills look boss / feels great in hand & the hard case is very nice to house it all. Will be drilling into masonry all weekend :/

    • The three big tool stores have times where they pull the cancellations on people, especially for online orders. Sydney Tools, Bunnings and Total Tools have all done it. Smaller stores are not always better; Just tools don't return enquiries all the time. Maybe there are better hardware stores around… Maybe people can leave a comment recommending a store that hasn't cancelled an order, and/or always returns queries?
