LG 48" C1 4K Smart Self Lit OLED TV with Ai ThinQ (OLED48C1PTB) $1950 + Delivery @ Appliance Central

220

Just price matched this with JB/Harvey at that cost plus appliance centrals shipping (32 for myself).

Could be good to negotiate with. Not sure what other C1 panels are discounted by atm if at all.

2022's C2 represents a further panel upgrade on the G1, and likely very competitive pricing, plus Samsung's QD-OLED will be appearing in Sony's line up, and looks - for the most part - better still.

Clearance pricing is going to need to get a lot better than this.

100%, this looks like the beginnings of those price reductions.

    • Do we know that the C2 48 is getting an upgraded panel? This site suggests that only 55+ are getting the evo panel.

The C2 gets the Evo OLED panel that was exclusive to the G1 model in 2021, suggesting picture parity with the new G2 model. However, that more luminescent panel is only available on the 55-, 65-, 77-, and 83-inch models. The 48-, and brand new 42-inch sizes stick with the standard self-lit OLED screen.

I agree about the impact of QD-OLED and clearance pricing generally, though. Since the next-gen TVs aren't actually available right now, the price hasn't dropped all that much yet. If there's still stock in a month or two I imagine the pricing situation will be pretty different.

      • Oohh, I didnt know they were going to do a 42 inch one. That might be a better option as a BFG monitor than the 48

        • Yeah definitely. If you haven't seen it already there's also a 34inch ultrawide QD-OLED coming soon, which could be an even better option depending on your setup.

I'd imagine it might cost a similar amount as the C2 42/48 though.

          • @snep: Eh, I'm already looking at the G9 Neo, but I saw a few reviews saying its a bit average, so I'm more interested in the C series for 4k 120Hz gaming for the future. The 34 inch just isn't quite big enough for me, but putting the 55' C9 on my desk as a test showed me that it was just a little bit TOO big.

            • @Intoxicoligist: Fair enough. I've got a pretty small desk, and I can't even imagine using anything above 34-38" lol

All C2 and G2 will have the same basic panel make, which is the updated EVO panel (OLED.EX from LG Display).

How that competes on price and quality against a QD-OLED monitor offering remains to be seen.

A lot of industries are experiencing increased costs in either production or shipping, I am not sure competitive pricing is a given (although later in the release cycle is a given). The QD-OLED's are also expected to be $$$. Hope to be wrong but not sure i'd be expecting discounts beyond what we typically have seen at xmas/new year.

    • I'm keen for QD OLEDS, feel like early adopter tax will be ridiculous… especially in aus, no surprises though there.

    • Samsung's offering (via Sony) should be more expensive, yes… but I don't think LG's will be. They've ramped their new panel tech and MMG tech to mass production, going beyond previous levels.

We should be seeing panel costs dropping, even though there may be other parts with costs increases. Keep in mind many of these increases are temporary to facilitate plants to help meet the surge in demand.

Got my 55 B8 for $1550 in 2019. This feels like it's too much to be a bargain as such in 2022.

  • I think $1800 or less would fit the bargain-zone for this given C2 would be available to purchase in the coming weeks/months and W OLED not being the most advanced OLED technology anymore.

  • Would wait for the 42” C2 as it’s a better size for monitor. 48” generally too big for monitor and too small for a TV, unless it’s as a secondary TV

    • That's my call as well, but I'd imagine the 42" won't be there at launch. Don't expect to see it before August.

  • I keep eyeing for 65"….I missed many deals of 65" anticipating the price will go down..:)

  • ordered this from good guys in December, still bloody waiting.
