1x16Gb is an interesting choice… As in a bad one. Otherwise great value as usual.

Rubbish customer service with BPC Tech. Bought 3 6700xt builds through them and have had issues with 2 of 3.
Called on both occasions, was offered no solution and got nowhere

    Take your money elsewhere.

What were the issues with the builds?

      • +1

First Fenrir 6700xt, faulty mobo. Bluetooth doesn't work every time, if it doesn't show up on start up I need to shut down and switch off the PSU, wait for 5 mins, turn on again.
Third Fenrir 6700xt, came without preloaded windows (the others did come with it, I just had to source my own keys), was promised a boot drive and nothing ever showed up.

    • Hi Juzzz,

Sorry to hear about your experience.

We try to make every customer happy, but sometimes we do make mistakes.

Would that be possible for you to send us the order number through private chat or FB customer service? We are happy to help as all Kraken series gaming pc has a 2-year warranty. We can arrange the refund if you are not satisfied with our service.

Also, we noticed that it is you initially posted the 6700xt PC deal. We really appreciated that.

We are looking forward to your early reply.

      Sincerely,
      BPC Team

Any 3080 or 3070 bargains coming up?

      • BPC000098763.

I did initially post the deal, and I actually regret it seeing as I was unaware of the level of service.

  • How much to add on a Windows operating system?

    • I think they will pre install windows (unactivated) for you. Otherwise it's very easy to do yourself. Keys can be bought cheaply online when you're ready to activate. Don't pay full price for windows!

      • Can we buy from sites like G2A?

        • +2

I bought a windows 10 home activation key for $15 from here: https://softwareg.com.au/products/windows-10-home-product-ke…

Website looks a bit iffy but key worked fine.

          • @Oz80085: Not possible to upgrade to Win 11 after that, right?

            • +1

@hawkeye93: I don't see why not. But I have no interest in windows 11 at this point in time anyway. Tried it for a couple of days and went straight back to windows 10.

            • @hawkeye93: I have bought several Windows keys from hrkgame.com (Win 10 Pro currently $6) over the years and they have all worked with Windows 11. Just associate with your Microsoft account and you're good to go

      • Don't think so, someone already rang and confirmed, they wont preinstall windows at all, unless they changed their policies, really just want something plug & play immediately, thats what ppl are buying prebuilts for …

        • +1

Takes about 15 min to install Windows mate just have a little patience.

      • Yes, we used to pre-install the Windows 10 Home OEM Edition (Unactivated) for all Gaming PCs.

However, after several customers complained about how hard it was to re-install other operating systems. We cancelled this policy.

I like this 6600xt version for an extra $100
    https://www.bpctech.com.au/product/kp-backtoschool-system-kr…

    • This one has a 1TB disk too. 2x 8gb 2666mhz vs the 1x 16gb 3200mhz here.

    • ^^ this is the real deal

I'd rather spend $100 more and do a custom build with a 12100f, dual channel memory and a 6600xt. Significantly better single-core, similar multi-core, and significantly better gpu performance. Low-end motherboard but I think that's a worthwhile tradeoff for a cheap build.

    • how does 12100f compare to 10400f, 11400f and 3600? can't find much info regarding it

      • +1

It has significantly better single thread than those, and similar multithread to 10400f (i.e. behind 11400f and 3600).

From what I've seen it should be faster than 10400f and 3600 in gaming, and similar or potentially a bit faster than an 11400f depending on the game.

But in practice at this price the GPU will be the bottleneck most of the time anyway. You could probably justify saving ~$30 by taking a 10400f+mobo in this kind of system, but as lga1700 mobo pricing comes down over the next month or two I think the value proposition for the 12100f will only get better.

Could be worth thinking about the 12400f and/or a b660 as well depending on budget and desired upgrade path.

That's a decent budget build. I was about to point out the mobo doesn't support dual channel but thought I should confirm, turns out Intel made a mistake in original slides which is great news.
