You are the blister forming on every Ozbargain post.

      • -3

You know that blisters are a good thing right?

They protect the wound from infection and allow faster healing…

        Thanks for the compliment…

        • +5

So it was a positive review…

          • +2

@Ninternet: Yes, the reviewer gave it 5 out of 5.

This controller is very comfortable to hold, and syncs well with both my M1 Mac and Switch. Thr bluetooth hasn't given me any issues. My only issue is a personal gripe - the left thumbstick is in a much lower position compared to on the switch pro controller, which has forced me to limit my use with it, as a blister is beginning to form.

  • Anyone tried multiplayer with two of these?
Have one already and not sure how games go with multiple same bluetooth controllers

    • +2

it'll work. I dont need two controllers to tell you that.

    • +1

Works perfectly fine with 2 on a switch.

    • +1

Two 8bitdo's on Nintendo Switch is fine.

On a PC it really depends on the BT IC/driver you have/get, which OS you are running, and what exactly you want to it to be able to do. It's a bit of a minefield but at least it's cheap to buy USB BT dongles if your first BT solution doesn't work.

      • +1

        This.

PC bluetooth dongles are inconsistent. You can get lag if you are more than a metre away (so couch distance). And windows is slow and glitchy when it comes to syncing bluetooth controllers, so if you want to use this on both PC and Switch and/or Android, the re-syncing can get annoying.

I got sick of doing that with my PS4 controller and ended up buying an 8bitdo receiver (the one that looks like brown bricks) for $20. The controller just syncs to that, then you plug it into the USB ports, swapping easily. The PC/Switch just thinks it's a wired controller.

        • +3

Your arms don't even work, how you use controller Argo..?

    • No issues, works great. I'm using 4 of these.

      • +2

/whispers I've always suspected Ezuku was an octopus.

  • +11

Only gripe with using this on the Switch is you can't use it to turn the switch on.

    • Seconding this. It's been pretty great for games like Hades and Smash where I don't want to go to hard on the joycons.

    • +1

      Love turbo.

  • +2

I might still get PS4 controller

    • I think PS4 controller is just as good is this one. And similar price if you get it on sale sometimes.

    • +1

I have both, I'd go for this it has a number of advantages (aside from that it's also cheaper I think?)

It has D-input, X-input, Switch Input and a mode for Mac (A?). If you count X-Input as 2 modes (Xbox and PC), that's 5 natively support device types.
It has a removable battery compartment which supports AAs if the battery ever dies, you can just use rechargable AAs, they may even sell replacement batteries eventually. Also same battery size as a PS4 controller so life should be similar, it's rated at 20 hours vs PS4's rating of 8 hours, your mileage may vary.

It has turbo and macro functions, plus profiles for different settings/games what have you. You can also swap the D-Pad and Analogue sticks in software iirc.

Subjectively, it's a bigger controller so it doesn't cramp bigger hands as quickly. The D-Pad is perfect, the PS4 arrow buttons don't hold up imo.

  • Anyone knows if this will work with the tello drone as a Bluetooth controller tether to the phone?

  • +2

$54.99 feels like enough for me to try my luck with Kogan. Thoughts? Edit: Looked at the previous deal's comments and decided better not

    • +1

      Avoid Kogan like the plague

    • I got mine from Kogan. (The grey one, when other stores ran out of stock.) It arrived in a normal timespan and I've never have any problem dealing with them.
Perhaps I've just been incredibly lucky :/

      • Pot luck I guess, I'm using their baby monitor and it doesn't get any better value for $50.00. Works great..!

      • Me too but the box was pretty crumpled.

      • Same here, I don't think I've ever gotten problem with kogan so far maybe we're both incredibly lucky?

    • Much better in this colour as you can see the button labels.

They're illegible on the black one.

  • Would this work on Android TV? I have one of the 58' Bauhn TV.

    • +1

Any Bluetooth device with controller profile enabled (I would guess yes).

    • I had issues pairing a ps4 controller to a Sony android TV. I think this controller is much nicer though.

  • do these have any "rumble" in them?

    • +1

      Yes

  • May be better to buy a Brook product if you want a multi-device controller

eg. X One to use XB1 controller across all systems with gyro and trackpad emulation.

    • this post is only for those without a controller at all… the Brook one would be good if you already have an xbox controller…

      • +2

Have Xbox One X, PS4 controllers and still prefer this for PC and retro gaming.

        • What does it do better than a ps4 controller. The layout is virtually identical.

          • @lunchbox99: Programmable and two extra back buttons. And also profiles for different games.

    • May be better to spend an extra $15 on a Brook One and another $80 on a Xbox One controller if you're able to find one, if you want a multi-device controller*

      • where can you find this $15 adapter or was i searching for the wrong thing?

        • Extra $15, as this item is $65 and the Brook One is $80

          • @Domingo: but that is more expensive in general than simply buying a controller that can already do multi-device…

            • @meong: /sarcasm.

              I was clarifying the suggestion

    • +3

      *it's

  • +2

Great controller. Fire Tv, Chromebook, android and windows tested. And programmable.

    • Good to know that it works with Fire TV, want to get one for playing games on Fire TV 4K max. :)

      • +1

That's what I use. Retroarch. Perfect.

  • Anyone tried this with games on nvidia shield pro?

  • Does this taking any real getting used to if coming from a regular Pro Controller? It looks thinner - is it still comfortable enough?

  • Does anyone know if it works directly on Sony x90h series, and also if you can connect two through their bluetooth?

  • +2

Why would you go for this over an Xbox controller? Genuinely asking.

Xbox controller works for me on PC, Nvidia shield and maybe an xbox

    • +2

If you've already got the xbox one or series controller, there's not really enough of a difference to bother buying this instead.

The old xbox 360 controller? Maybe. That has worse d-pad, bumpers, stick accuracy, etc.

    • +1

I second this, Xbox controller much better.

    • +2

This one is programmable and also has multi profiles, 4 modes and can also function as a switch pro controller:

      https://www.8bitdo.com/pro2/

So maybe think more like the Elite controller .
      .

    • +2

Matter of opinion, I absolutely hate the Dpad/Left thumbstick placement on The Xbox, and will actively avoid that xbox/steam controller/switch pro design if I can help it.
I've grown up with the layout being symmetrical (never had an xbox) so this style of controller design is the most comfortable and familiar to me

8Bitdo's various models has actually always been my 'main' controller for my Switch, and I absolutely love that I can now swap between PC and Switch (And even android when I'm running Steamlink on my tablet 😀) instantly with the back toggle.

    • +1

Works great for both PC and Switch. It has different modes so you don't need go through the whole pairing process if you're going from PC to Switch or vise versa
You can also swap create profiles in PC mode. I have two profiles for the different ABXY button layout.

    • I'm with you. I'd go for this.

  • Thanks OP, just bought 1. Been waiting for this for a while.

  • +1

If you have a playstation controller, or other Bluetooth controller, you can also just get the 8bitdo adapter. Works really well on switch, pc, etc. And same as this controller, the customisation in the 8bitdo app is really great.

    • I assume you need to use it with the dock though?

    • Hey, do you get much lag using a PS4 contoller on PC with the 8bitdo adapter? I'm assuming it just connects devices using bluetooth, so the lag must be terrible for a fast FPS game?

      • +1

i use the ps5 controller with the adapter, no noticeable delay as far as I can tell. responds the same as if I was playing on the console itself…

        • Took a dive and grabbed one from JB HiFi. Glad I did, it works an absolute treat on my PC. You were right, cannot notice any latency.

          Thanks man.

  • Will this controller work on PS5? Looking for additional controllers for casual games such as Overcooked.

  • Belongs on OzCheaperatKogancurrentlybutAmazoniswayeasiertodealwith.com.au

    • +2

The Kogan one is from "Heybattery" a Hong Kong based grey importer. The Amazon one is local stock.
I do agree that lots of Amazon deals get upvoted just for being Amazon, nevermind it's the same price or cheaper elsewhere though it's not the case here

  • Thanks OP. Ordered a pair from Kogan. I see some rave reviews online for this contraption!

  • Thanks OP, ended up looking around and found catch selling them for the same price too. 5% shopback currently.

    • I got 7% shopback from Amazon

      • No you didn't, unless there was a special deal. 7% shopback is for Amazon devices only. You probably got something like 0-4%.

  • Second chance draw, same controller just $6 more in Grey
