    They do the job but you would be better off getting the 2i2 on it's own then picking up a P120 or 220 on sale and a $30-50 headphone. The mic has a bit of noise and likely worth around $80. It shouldn't cost you too much more if you wait for some sale prices on the items.

            @bfimmortal: The P120 isn't too bad. It's fairly well rounded, decent for vocals and decent for instruments in a bedroom environment if you want to go that way (as in acoustic based, or picking up an amp). Though, depending on your goals it is something you will definitely grow out of.
            It entirely depends on what your budget is and long term goals. If you're just looking for moderate bang for buck. That $499 deal is decent enough.

            For a little more you can get something like a SM58 - $157.58, or a Sennheiser e845 - $139/e945 - $225. These are quality vocal mikes for really not that much more. That you would honestly never really need to upgrade for vocals, and work brilliantly if you ever intend to play/sing live on stage too. They are strong and capable of being dropped and will not stop working. Sm58 if your voice is a bit higher, sennys if you're more mid to low range vocals (I've been using a e945 for 15 yeasr now and it hasn't missed a beat. Live or in the studio, a band mate vocalist only has been using the 845 for 6-7 years now and same deal). However worth trying them out at a store and seeing what you like the sound of more. They work real well next to an acoustic guitar or an amp as well.

            Then for headsets. Industry standard is the Sony MDR7506 - $126.87. I use this myself for studio monitoring when singing or recording an instrument. Most high end studios have them. They're great, they're cheap, they last for ages and they're honestly unbeatable until you start hitting the $250-300 mark imo.

            Focusrite 212 - $247.98
            Or if you don't think you'll ever need to plug/record more than 1 mic/instrument at a time, you can even save another $70 and go the Focusrite Solo - $170.05

            So for about $534, you can get an E845 and the Sony's + XLR Cable - $19.99 and a focusrite 2i2.

  Got this one. Looking at reviews the mic is solid for getting into voice recording and the headset is decent which I can use for jamming since its got a long cable. And the interface itself is already ~$250 so its worth it for me to get going with recording. Note that 212 has two inputs that each can be either mic or instrument jacks. I was looking at the Solo but I realize that only has 1 instrument and 1 mic, so can't do 2 mics or 2 guitars like I want.
