Wine Bargains?

I wouldn't know a good deal from bad when it comes to wine so I wonder if there's anyone here who can enlighten me on the subject.

After last night's great http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/68068 deal I was looking around and of a few sites wondered about this one http://www.winemarket.com.au/

The stated markdowns look very good on those highlighted and delivery for one case anywhere in Oz is $8 with a maximum delivery cost of $20 whatever the number of cases.

Any wine experts here?

    Any wine experts here?

Nup, but I am a buyer for gifts, dinner parties and a father who loves his red.

Winemarket.com.au have a pretty good name but it's worth waiting for discount coupons which come up from time to time and tend to offer substantial savings.

You need to know your wines if you buy from winemarket. Find a nice wine, check the price, then buy using coupon codes. I've bought some cases of wines based on very low prices (rather than familiarity with the wine) and had 2 excellent buys and a lot of really, really bad buys. IMO the "respectable" wine makers who sell below par wines to the public are doing their business and reputation a disservice.

Which 2 excellent buys did you get?

Sorry, I can't remember, it was a while ago. I bought a lot of different cases for a number of celebrations that year and really wish I'd taken note of the couple of special cases. Currently have a case of Big Woop (cheap) which I haven't tried yet, if it's not good I can use it for cooking.

I just got the my new flybuys cards in the mail and they talk about a wine service where you can get double points at Coles if you subscribe. www.1stchoice.com.au

Is this new? Is it any good?
