  • Weird deal, I'm guessing the VIP price doesn't count as "full priced"? Can't find anything worth buying that's not on the exclusion list that's even full price.

my wife says this all the time so doesn't bother with these crazy % deals anymore

      • crazy % deals

        "crazy" deal. FTFY.

  • +3

Would it be easier to say what the deal does apply to ?

    • +2

      "Curtains?"
"Yeah, they block out light so they come under lighting."

I feel like spotlight has been on sale for ever. I looked at venetian blinds which were supposedly half price, but same everyday price at bunnings.

    • +2

      It's all marketing tactics.

Spotlight is very expensive retail. I was shopping for food colouring and they retail $8 where cake retailers sell it for $4 to $5. Also I remember one of their oil powdered colouring is $14.40, the retail price in all cake stores is $6.95

    • It's like the House stores ALWAYS having a stocktake sale. The prices are never the RRP they suggest so how is it even legal to use them on the sale tickets.

  • I wonder if sodaking CO2 refills will be excluded?

    • Not usually excluded, that's the only thing I get there so keen to pick up one too (need to weigh mine see if almost done). Comes to about $12. The only problem is my local store doesn't have stock half the time

Wouldn't put too much stock in 40% off spotlight deals. Their discounted price is what you would get the item for elsewhere anyway - if you can find the rare item that is sold elsewhere. They just make it hard for you to compare since they use different brand names.

Their 40% off is other retailers normal price

    • +1

      Depends what getting, not necessarily.

      • +7

Agree sometimes 40% off is still more expensive

        • no o=doubt

Have a look at their reviews on Product Review Au. (for their online store). Out of 566 reviews 479 1 star reviews, https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/spotlight-online-s…. I know most people only do reviews when dissatisfied but a rating of 1.4 stars doesn't fill me with confidence.

    • True, but you'd never go there and pay full price anyway. Product review is pretty awful though, nothing gets a good review.

      • you forgot dr boom then…

  • So if you're buying multiple things online, does the discount apply to only one item or to the whole cart?

    • 40% off Single Full Priced Item - only 1 item

      • I can read, what I was getting at was if that is actually the case when buying online based on prior experiences. There are plenty of times vouchers don't apply as specified, but I guess I will find out tomorrow.

        • Ah… Never shopped online (2 stores within 3k), but only applied to 1 item in multi item purchase in store.
Was replying based on that experience.

Instead, bought each item on different account using voucher. (No issue, as main store has 4 different counters to purchase)

  • I've never used this promo because I've never found anything to actually be a good price with it, and everything I buy is cheaper with other promotions or it's exempt.

I haven't received my catalogue in the mail yet so I'm interested to know what the other VIP deals are in there! I've gotten some really good deals on those, shame they have to be used in store though…

  • The typical - they've discounted an item i wanted to use the 40% on by 25%

    • Shame you can't ask to pay full price so the 40% off will apply.

  • Doesn't seem that sodaking cheap this time

    • Seems that way. Looking at the T&Cs on the voucher it states 'drinks' are excluded sadly. Shame.

      • Oh well mine isn't quite empty, got a spare one and my local doesn't have stock anyway. Used to be marked down automatically on the website.. guess not included

  • I tried to redeem this in-store and was told I needed to show the original email with the coupon because only select members received it.

    • +1

1000 bs e-mails to get one voucher email isn't worth it

  • Good luck finding something not on "sale". Tried to ask if I can pay full price for the item so I can use the voucher bit they refused.

  • They are bloody hopeless those pricks.
Went in for an exchange sodaking gas cylinder, as my store was showing stock.
They grab one from under the counter, the 40% off deal doesn't scan/not on the list.. gets manager, all ok. pick it up.. empty.
Reckon none out the back but they never seem to know anything about them every time ya go there. Had to get a refund
More wasted time, never again.. easier just going to officeworks/coles etc.
