Reminder to use a Canadian VPN and buy off Canadian oculus store for cheaper prices. I’ve bought plenty of times without issue.

    • What sort of savings are we talking about?

I've been contemplating an Oculus for a few months but rebuilding and buying a collection from scratch has put me off. Especially given the average cost of the popular titles.

      • +2

In most cases I've seen its only like $2-$5 difference.

Might be some special cases where its much cheaper though.

        • Got it. Thanks mate.

    • Yeah been doing this a while, works great, except for vouchers that seem to be region locked.

    • +1

Always check though, a small number of games are cheaper in Australia.

    • What kind of savings does this get you? 10%?

    • +1

Also remember that the Oculus store sales are very weak compared to steam sales of the same VR games.

If it's an Oculus exclusive, or you don't have a gaming PC, or air link doesn't work well on your router, then you can consider paying the hefty premium price to get the Oculus version.

      • +2

Also, some Oculus titles support cross buy so that if you buy the PC version you also get a copy for Quest, or vice versa, such as thrill of the fight, I bought the game for my Quest 2 because standalone with no cables is nice for a boxing game, but I also got a PC copy for free if I ever want to play it on that.

sometimes it's not cheaper in fact it was about 60c more expensive to go CAD store yesterday for powerbeatsvr

Highly recommend Thrill of the Fight great workout a deadset knockout at this price.

    • +1

Note that you'll need a minimum 2m x 2m space to play in though, and it'll definitely be better if it's generally square in shape.

      • +1

Yeah defo need a bit of extra room to move around unless ofc you feel like punching a few holes around the house.

        • +1

Gorn was the game which endangered my walls the most so far…

@Pobman: IB Cricket nearly smashed the OLED that one still gives me nightmares.

      • I play in garage :))

    • I've never played anything that gets my heart rate as high as this game. Gotta be careful not to throw my shoulder out

      • Haha yeah really gets your heart pumping right up there with the second Pfizer jab.

        • +2

Ah so that's what the move where you hit the outside edge of their upper arm is called

          • @Jonzay: Yeah the Michelle Pfizer! 🙃

Already have the Walkabout Mini Golf and it's another must own for mine but Golf+ for $23 seems not too bad. Saw somewhere that they'll be upping the price in a week or two.

    • +1

Can definitely vouch for Walkabout MiniGolf. Absolute delight to play with friends.

  • +1

Thrill of the fight is one of the best games I've bought on vr

  • +2

I never see Dead Drop recommended, it might look a bit B grade but it's my most played game by far, the horde mode specifically

    • +1

Also enjoyed it, especially for its price when on sale.

  • +2

Synth Riders also has a BOGOF offer running as per (purported) Dev post in Gamedeals Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/GameDeals/comments/ssio12/quest_sto…

There is a demo available via the app lab.

    • +2

Synth Riders is so much fun i prefer it over beat saber.

  • My one big issue with the Oculus Quest 2 is that there really aren't many games once you play through a lot of the main titles.

Also, once you play Waking Dead every other game seems like a tech demo, and nothing else you play is quite the same.

  • I'm really tempted to grab space pirate trainer DX in case i ever get access to a 10x10m space

    • You don't need that massive a space, it's fine in a 2x2 or so

  • Picked up Golf+ and Synth Riders both get my majestic nod of approval.

  • +1

Checked Canada for the ones I had an interest in:

Thrill of the Fight CA$7.99 about AU$8.80
Space Pirate Trainer CD$20.29 about AU$22.25
    Tetris CA$26.24 about AU$28.91

  • If anyone wants to split Synth Riders, PM me.
