If you're scrubbing that hard it means you don't have a good cleaning maintenance routine. You should have abundance of toothbrushes if you go by the 3-month rules for replacing.

Can you please share your cleaning maintenance routine? A tiktok would be good.

      • +15

        Routine?
        - Make sure there isn't excessive moisture around daily (if there is resolve it - open shower door for ventilation, wipe it dry, push water to drain etc ).
        - Weekly wipe with bleach (5 mins)
        - Fortnightly deep clean with bleach and toothbrush (10mins).

If mold is growing on silicone replace immediately.

If mold is growing on silicone replace immediately.

I've found this difficult in the past, to remove and replace easily. Any tips?

Silicone or grout? If your silicone is comprised it will continue to grow onto your grout no matter how much bleach you spray.

Removing grout requires a saw or you will need to get an Oscillating Multi Tool with an attachment and cut it all out. Vaccum it all and use bleach to clean all the gaps (preparing for new grout is important). Use distilled water to make the grout mixture as it has no both contaminants and minerals removed.

            • +3

@Sheng: Silicone mainly…and grout too I suppose haha

              • +3

@John Kimble: Just run a utility knife on both sides and peel it. If your silicone is covering long lengths just cut it off in sections. I know holding stuff above you head can be tiring but it's easy to break up the work.

          • +3

@John Kimble: Just spray Mould Remover on grout or silicon then leave it half a day. It will be gone then pour water on it. I never scrub or do anything.

            • @TigerWoops: Do you have the link to the exact brand of Mould Remover that you use, which is so effective? TIA.

              • +1

@notevasive: Any will do the job. When you spray leave the windows open for the chemical smells.

          • @John Kimble: Pour some bleach gel over kitchen towel and leave it in contact with the mouldy silicone.
Do it at night and you should wake up in the morning with clean silicone.
Make sure it is bleach GEL.

        • Good tops. Does bleach have affects on the tiles ? Normally silicon gets the mould. Will look to replace it. I take it its the waterproof white one we need to replace it with. Wish there is a tool to scrap it around edge of walls.

        • This is great advice. But honestly some people are just too busy.

I wish I could do this.

BTW - wouldn't expose yourself to bleach that often though.

          • @CalmLemons: Ofcourse its 50/50 mix. If do 2 water rinses to neutralise it without having to use pool products. Everyone now has easy access to K95 masks so I don't see it being much of an issue and you should be airing out bathrooms and rooms in general.

            • +2

@Sheng: K95 masks don't remove chemicals or gases from breathing air.

              • @Dannyism: Obviously it doesn't remove but reduces the exposure length also you will be ventilating the area as well.

                • @Sheng: Reduces exposure length? That is simply not true.

            • @Sheng: K95 removes droplet size only, not volatile organic compounds.

Just keep in mind bleach doesn’t kill mould and mould spores on porous surfaces like grout - it just discolours it.

          Best to use vinegar.

But not at the same time unless you want to gas yourself…

            Challenge accep….. *faints*

True, however problem now a days is toothbrushes have a replaceable head , so you really cant clean with the old head (only) .

  • +6

Needed some new toothbrushes thanks OP!

  • +8

This ain't for the mouth FYI lol

Instructions unclear. Now im brandishing some pearly whites.

I bought some of these in a previous deal.

A bit unremarkable. Comfortable to hold, but other than that it's just a toothbrush.

The bristles are softer than expected.

    • I guess you don't want it to be too hard to damage the grout?

      • +1

Way too soft for grout. Grout brushes use hard stiff bristles usually.

  • Ordered a pair to see what the hype is all about.

  • Can vouch for these being really good brushes

  • +3

I keep all my old toothbrushes to do what this thing can do. Replace with the 'newer' old toothbrush when the 3-4 months is up, don't feel so bad if I scrub really hard and the bristles get demented or really dirty, can chuck out straight away

  • +5

I find those electric drill brushes very effective, generally $10-20 for a set.
You can find them on Amazon or ebay

  • Mmmm I bought these to clean my coffee machine group head and the bristles deform at high temps.

  • I bought a set last time to clean my dog's lick mat and bowl. Works really well.

Getting another set to clean the blades on my spiralizer and food processor, as the toothbrush style brush that came with the food processor has worn out
