Amazon seem to regularly have this at a decent price anyway (according to Camel ) with it normally retailing for $200+ elsewhere, but $179.99 seems to be an all-time low.

Picked this up for my kids, who are interested in D&D, but struggled with the learning curve. I think this will scratch the same itch until they're ready to go from board games to RPGs.

What is HeroQuest?

HeroQuest is Milton Bradley's approach to a Dungeons & Dragons-style adventure game. One player acts as game master, revealing the maze-like dungeon piecemeal as the players wander. Up to four other players take on a character (wizard, elf, dwarf, or barbarian) and venture forth into dungeons on fantasy quests.

Wow, brings me back to my childhood :)
No idea if its a bargain but thanks OP for the nostalgia

A quick Google Shopping search shows it's typically $200+, and while it looks like it's been sub $200 on Amazon for a while, this is the cheapest it appears to have ever been (plus free delivery on what is a fairly large item).

    • Yeah this looks like it's the 'heroic tier' sold when it was kickstarted through Haslab. I paid $240 for it (and got it last week) so this is good value.

    Holy flashback Batman!

This game is amazing, and the price is pretty good compared to other options locally.

The Kickstarter kit was a huge success but now very hard to get hands on and selling at a massive premium on eBay for all the exclusive content.

Took me right back to being a 80s/90s kid, hit me right in the nostalgia!

    • I bought the kickstarter kit but needed to flip it because of bills. People were falling over themselves to get at it.

      • Yup seeing just the Mythic Exclusive box go for $600 had me tempted to sell mine but I'm too big of a fan of the game to let it go.

Some diehard fans with deep wallets on this one for sure

Need anymore convincing? Check this review out :D

    • Thank you, I desperately needed that laugh today!

This is without a doubt, one of the greatest things I've ever watched

Disappointed I was too late to post this video but also happy this video has touched so many.

The dude also had a good point about board games being obsessed with modular tiles. Bloody betrayal at house on the hill - I’m going to be building the dungeon out to the next room at this point.

Love the Gloomhaven: JOTL map book, screw tiles!

        • I have always been interested in gloomhaven but I probably cannot play a game of that scale again for another 10 years or so (got two young kids).

      Brodesword. Look at his musculaarity.

    • That's gold!

    • The best thing about Heroquest is this review. MagNIFicent.

    wow blast from the past.

    Can't believe that price though

  • Wow didn't realise goes for that much.. parents recently had a cleanout and found this childhood relic in the cupboard.. barely played it back in the day and missus wanted me to give it away but I said I'll hang on to it in case the kids wanted to try it.. glad I didn't listen to her :D

The old version, if complete, may be worth FAR more than this new version. Its one of the more sought after retro board games.

Holy Christ. I wonder what it cost my parents in 1990.

    • I bought the main set for $50 and the two expansions were $30 each. Still got it but in terrible conditions. Most of the figurines have snapped limbs/base and missing pieces.

  • I wonder what ever happened to my original copy of this?

Looks like it comes loaded up with all the extras now.

  • Nostalgia aside, I wonder if the game is any good compared to modern crawlers (Sword & Sorcery AC, Massive Darkness 2, etc.).

    • +1

I suspect it will show it's age quite a bit now compared to the modern polished offerings. But simplicity can be a feature too.

  • Good game, still got my game in my mum's cupboard from when I was a kid

    • I've still got mine too

  • Cheers OP, hanging out for Space Crusade.

  • Love this when I was a kid! Even had one of the expansions, Return of the Witchlord. Still have these plus Space Crusade, all in decent condition.

Brings back so much memories <3

    Awesome price!

@ryf beat you to it above

  • Heroquest was great, but no way it's worth that price for playing. Try something like super fantasy ugly snouts instead: https://boardgamegeek.com/video/37495/super-fantasy-ugly-sno…

Doesn't have any the best thing about herquest is the gargoyle though…

  • Still got the original
