  • I know it says 5th gen but does anyone know if this would kinda sorta work with the 2018 and 2020 versions of the iPad Pro 12.9”?

    • its not compatible 4th gen and lower.

No. All of the generations are a bit different apart from 1st and 2nd. Correct me if I am wrong.

      • 3rd gen is compatible with 4th gen cases but not vice versa because of the larger camera bump on 4th gen.

But in this case, 5th gen is physically thicker than either 3rd or 4th gen so earlier generations wouldn't fit properly into this case.

    • Works but speaker grills won't match up perfectly, minimal effect on sound

      • Yep - this is the main difference issue. It’s effectively the same size and shape as the previous gen but different grills, which is a killer for backward compatibility of cases.

I bought one to use with my ipad pro 12.9. Note these are quite heavy but also really well built.
The keyboard is backlit and typing is quite decent for a tablet keyboard. The keyboard can also detach which I really like compare to the Apple one as you still have a case on.
The only issue is that the touchpad just randomly doesn't work. Essentially the little 'mouse dot' just disappear and touchpad stops working. I would have to get back to the home screen, which resets it somehow and it starts working again. It happens once everyday or so.
Beside that, this is a really good combo with the iPad Pro. At this price I highly recommend it.

Get it replaced before it's too late. They sometimes completely fail around a year.

I had mine for a year never had issues, I too suggest to have it replaced. Only drawback for me is touch pad click is actual click and not tap ana a bit firm
Edit: just realised this is different model, mine is not the detachable model

I have the 'folio' version too where keyboard is permanently attached.

To enable 'tap to click', just go: Settings, General, Trackpad and then turn on 'Tap to Click'.

This was first thing I changed upon receiving mine. Hope this helps.

          Thanks heaps

    • I thin that is more a software rather than hardware issue. I had the same thing too but but I feel certain app triggers it - e.g. Amazon .

    • I've had the screen zoom in when using the touchpad. Does that happen to you too?

  • Got this for $299 about 8 months ago from JB Brighton. They are well built. Really like the detachable case.

  • Have one of these. Well built, best accessory you can have for you M1 iPad. Got it $254 last year (thought it was a really good deal back then). Highly recommended!

  • Very nice keyboard however one of the key is broken after 8 months

    • Use the warranty!

      • Contacted Logitech for warranty but lost the invoice (officeworks purchase) It was too hard so I gave up

    • I bought one 4 mths ago from another reseller. One key cap came off last week. Contact Logitech for warranty, response very slow, 3 emails in one week then asked me to check warranty status from point of purchase…

  • Have one for my 11 inch. Makes it a chunky boy and quite heavy but the keyboard a trackpad are very useful and when they aren’t, it’s easy to detach.

  • Not recommending this to light-users.

It is well-built but oh dear, it is heavy.

I’ve got some perspectives on this. I had an iPad Pro 2021 11” with the Magic Keyboard with the main use cases of writing / note taking on it using the Apple Pencil and watching videos on it. When in tablet mode, I would flip the whole setup upside down and then angle the iPad using the MK’s tilting feature. I enjoyed the experience but always felt there should be a better way

I then upgraded to an iPad Pro 2021 12.9” with the Logitech Combo keyboard and promptly exchanged it for the Magic Keyboard a few weeks later due to a couple of reasons:
    - getting it into tablet mode is a whole thing because you can’t bend the keyboard back and behind, meaning you have to consciously pull it off and discard the keyboard somewhere
    - the stand set up is a bit flimsy/annoying when you’re trying to set it up to watch video when setting it up on a bed or something. A lot more effort to get the angle perfect compared to tilting it
    - opening the iPad when it is in the case is really tricky and to be honest, unpleasant
    - it does feel cheaper than the MK but that only matters if you’ve experienced both
    - as mentioned by others, the keyboard does not work with some apps randomly. Obviously a software thing though so hopefully will eventually be fixed
    - typing on the MK is slightly more enjoyable
    (Both options make it bulky)

Now, the Magic Keyboard for the 12.9” is actually very subtly different in the 11” in that when you flip it over to use in tablet mode, the iPad does not hold in the tilted position and it just falls flat in a matter of seconds/minutes when you put pressure on it. Despite this, I’ve opted to stick with it.

So my advice: if you’ve got the extra cash to burn and will spend majority of time typing and watching things on it, then go for the Magic Keyboard!

  • Has anyone got the case yet? Is the package unsealed?

Not sure why mine is not sealed.

    • Mine was the same
