Every third or fourth review mentions a loud humming/static sound. Doesn't sound promising.

    • +2

Its all part of the speakers personality

    • I got a pair of these 2nd hand, connected to cheap tv. As long as you don't move the cable, no issues with humming/static.

  • +3

I'm still rockin' mine since 2011

  • +2

Man I remember these type speakers back in the day.

  • Is THX still "the" THX?
    Because if so they've slipped….
M&K Sound had to fight tooth and nail to be certified.

  • These aren't that good for sound quality, plenty of (muddy) bass though.

Better off with some secondhand speakers off marketplace (gumtree is better for these kinda things though imo)

    • What'd be an equivalent to this but with clearer better quality sound?

        Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 ?

Plenty of bass; but lacking a sub, its got less sub-bass.

Pair it withva subwoofer, or check out any of the other edifier range for something more your tone.

Its pretty easy beat most of the logitech examples.

The Edifier t5 is usually what people pair them with; but test them without first.

Which obviously blows this budget by a chunk, but you end up with entry studio level reference speakers, and a sub that can knock things off shelves.

If you can stretch your budget and you definitely want a sub - get a the Edifier 350DB when they are on special for $300. They will rock your world compared to these logitechs.

If you just want a pair of decent speakers, get a pair of R1280DBS (make sure they have the "S" in the model name) because these have a sub out port. You can get these for around $120. And because they have a sub out port, it means you can add a cheap sub at a later point if you want. You can get an Edifier T5 sub for $179 and that sub paired with the R1280DBS will be significanly better than these logitechs. Again, bit more $$$ than the logitech's but your ears will thank you.

Yamaha hs3. Going for mid $200.

      • ifreddos comment is probably the best recommendation - you may not even need the sub, depending on the music you listen too.

I went and got an old hi-fi system of gumtree, $90 with record player, 5 stacker CD, radio and amp. (And tape, but idk if anyone cares for that anymore)

Had these since 2012 until I replaced them 2 weeks ago. They were solid especially if you run with a dac. Plenty of bass but lacks some detail. Major issue was the volume knob having static when you turn the knob as many people experience https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=logitech+z623+v…

    • Mine are 5 years old. I turn it off, adjust the volume, and turn it back on

    • +1

My old creative speaker, I opened up the volume knob and cleaned it with alcohol.

    • +2

What did you replace them with?

    • I had this for years but when I reseated the cables recently it went away.

  • Bought mine for $69 and still going strong after ~5 years

    • I like that number…

On the site note, mines going strong too after 9 years plus!

    • Bought for $99 about 7 years ago. Still going strong and no regrets.

just goes to show audio stuff has definitely plateaued if this is still being sold

    • If it ain't broke don't fix it.

  • Inflation…

$170 being a bargain for these feels pretty crazy

I can't believe people are buying non-digital speakers in 2025…

(and before you argue that ALL sound we hear with our ears is analogue - I'll put it to you that all pictures we see are analogue as well, yet we watch DIGITAL television and use digital HDMI cables not analogue cables)

  • My old set popped the fuse last month and at this price it wasn't really worth the effort to fix.

  • I got some of these from FB marketplace for $20, great buy for that. 🤣

  • Z905's are starting to break / tear. Logi used decent enough polycarbonate material for the cone. Yet used cheap rubber material? to mechanical link the cone to the circular ABS? molded frame. Same for the Z5500's. Humidity, the dry, then rain, then more rain. Cracking the rubber.

The fuses can be easily repair with a bit of aluminum foil.

As for the power supply board, protect them as they are prone to cook in lightning storms as they do not have any overload protection.

  • Good these are finally dropping again, miss the <$100 days though.

    Apparently $69 is ATL
