yes, but you get used to it. if you start to get sick, stop and rest. trying to power through it makes it worst next time from what i read.

        • Powering through just makes you feel unnecessarily f***ed up/dazzled out for a few hours after. Best to stop immediately so you don't feel crappy. And can resume playing 30 mins to an hour later.

For people trying to combat motion sickness, it'll slowly subside with more experience. If you're playing a game with smooth walking you can pretend to move your arms as you walk, this can help. You can also setup a fan
in front of you to blow on you, also helps.

Outside the ISS (clinging for dear life because I'm scared to let go and haven't fully figured out the controls) and near the stairs in Anne Frank's house I got a bit of vertigo. Also some of the 360° videos on YouTube and in other places. Part of the appeal for me is how realistic it can feel at times.

I knew I was making a mistake when I did it, but I "went on" some roller coasters. Much worse than real life, but also a bit of fun. The good thing about the headset is you can just close your eyes, because there's no actual motion.

      • +1

me too, try play rollercoaster… i cant do it more than 30 seconds… super dizzy, almost vomit
        but beat saber is fine

      • +1

Not dizzy but when I first tried smooth motion in first person got queasy. Didn't take long to get used to it. Playing first person on PC has never been a problem for me though.

Missus on the other hand doesn't like first person on PC for motion sickness. She plays on Quest no problem but in games where you physically move around (she likes Sep's Diner and that sort of thing)

It's games where you move in game but stand still physically that will likely make you queasy. Many games have a teleport option, snapped turning and tunnel vision during motion to help avoid it though (whether this is the same thing that would trigger dizziness I don't know).

Just a thought, check your local library as ours has Quests you can play so might be a good way to try before you buy. Then again, you wouldn't have any issue returning to Amazon within 30 days if you find it makes you too dizzy. There's plenty of free games to try.

I got a bit of motion sickness in Boneworks.

        There are a few options:

        • Work your way up to longer play sessions
        • Use teleport rather than smooth locomotion when supported
        • Try out travel sickness meds
      • if you are getting motion sickness while playing games (like Population One and HL Alyx) try Natural Locomotion (app). helps with it apparently.

Skyrim VR is the worst offender

        • Oh wow I did not know that, thanks. Yeah even normal Skyrim can get me good.

    • Waiting for the quest 2 pro/cambria myself. Still have the original CV1 - so been waiting for something worthwhile to upgrade from that..

When is the new one coming out, was expecting this to go down not up.

      • yeah agree..

        Meta, you are Zuck!

    • source that they're increasing the price by $100 USD?

    • +2

yes guys and girls… THIS IS REALLY FUN!!! get it get it…
dont forget referral $47 enough to buy resident evil game

      currently playing the ROOM vr….

      • Good game. If you like puzzles, Puzzling Places is really good too, quite relaxing actually.

    • Can this be used for other things? Asking for a mate

      • watching movie, p0rn, access your own collections from NAS, online chat, working, power point, presenting, watching live show, listening to music, make friends, online games, fight with strangers, meditation, virtual holiday, family reunion, etc etc

        its endless mate! its VR…

        • Does it hurt your eyes much wearing this?

          • @nightelves: nah…. now i wish the battery last longer, i play from 100% till 5% and want more

            • @CyberMurning: How long does the battery last?

              • @nightelves: hmm maybe 1 hour ? or a bit more.. i think also depending on the games, some more demanding, some very simple. anyone can confirm the normal usage?

but again, get any decent long-ish usb c cable, and charge it while you play.
if you play some sitting game, it is fine with 2m cable as you dont move a lot. or less if your power source is just next to your chair.
and yes, many good game with sitting feature.

              • @nightelves: about 3hrs. Bit less if forcing refresh rate to be higher (>72Hz) OR using PCVR (which has custom resolution and refresh rate settings)

can add a 10k battery bank and apparently goes upto 5-8hrs? (didnt try)

        • Hey what type of movies can you watch on this? I'm not asking about pr0n, can you watch normal movies and is it a better/different experience?

          • +1

@onetwothreefour: Yet to test as have only just ordered a pair. This guy has a couple of decent explanations and guides with below being just one:

Watching Movies On The Quest 2 Is The ULTIMATE VR Home Theater!

Looks interesting and looking forward to giving it a go.

            • @Borg: Thanks, I'm on the fence about getting one today before the price hike. Not sure what to do haha

              • @onetwothreefour: I have heard from a couple of friends who own them that it is not very comfortable wearing the Oculus so yet to discover if I would want to watch a movie through them. Perhaps others here can comment on comfort.

                • @Borg: Change the headband. It will be comfy after

                  • @CyberMurning: When/if the time comes, any recommentations on replacement/upgrade?. I did see these which seem to get decent reviews.
                    KIWI design Upgraded Head Strap

                    • @Borg: I got the cheapo from aliexpress $30 ish, good enough.

Nah dont go with that kiwi design, but this one:
                      https://www.bobovr.com/?v=3e8d115eb4b3

There are plenty other copying that bobo design in amazon or aliexpress

                      • @CyberMurning: Thanks for the tip. Not cheap those on Amazon @ around $89 but out of stock. Will keep in mind though when the tome comes.

                        • @Borg: Will You happy with $39?
for Oculus Quest 2 Elite Head Strap, VR Game Headstrap, Comfortable Adjustable VR Headset Accessories Head Strap for Replacement https://amzn.asia/d/82f7iQr

Like i said, similar not same brand.bobovr is like the apple/samsung. There is lg, nokia

                          • @CyberMurning: Yeah I know what you mean as there are many out there. I love one review which says "Good accessories for beginners." whatever that means :-). Thanks again and have made note of it.

                • @Borg: Yeah I don't watch too many movies at home so can't see myself using it for more than 45 minutes at a time.

      • Yes but the quality if trying to stream is pretty trash, because it's effectively 2 high res screens. Most people either download their content and play locally or pay for special hosts that allow higher quality uploads.

Edit: If you want to watch in 3D that is. If you're watching 360 flatscreen it's fine.

    • Good timing! I managed to snag an unopened 256GB model for $500 on Gumtree this morning!

      • But does it have warranty?

    • Have this, really nice headset. Considering you can play standalone games on it and PC games wirelessly on it is a boon. Not sure I will ever use a wired headset and play room scale. The FOV is not great, but me being sensitive did not get affected by it. Highly recommend.

        Not legal in Australia…

        Try here…

        • should be legal on planet earth.. they are annoying and expensive

      • I may be interested.

    • Anything on this worth playing apart from Alyx? still seems like VR is in its novelty phase and not there yet

      • because you dont have it….. try … there are close to 100 good games, enough for a year (assuming you have other important things to do like working or school….) not novelty anymore.. quest 1 yes 10 years ago, now is not

      • do you like poker? i kid you not the first 3 months or so of owning it was spent playing pokerstars vr. F2P but there is a cash shop for cosmetics.

      • Walkabout Mini Golf is surprisingly good. Sure the graphics aren't AAA quality but it is a great social activity with friends. Even though I'd love for my mates to want to play more FPS with me, they always want to play mini golf and just chat while chilling.

Don't forget to check out App Lab as well, some really great content in there but Oculus make it hard to find in their store.

    • I'm just going to put it out there - jokes aside, vr adult content was actually pretty cool.

  • whatttttt mod deleted that new post~~~~! whyyyyyyyy

    • Probably cause it's a dupe

  • This information should be in the post:

    Go here for a referral - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/oculus.com
    More info is - https://store.facebook.com/au/legal/quest/referral-program

It is buried in the comments on page 2 so posting here on page 4 in case it is missed ( I don't always read all pages of comments). Don't miss the chance to get yourself $47 to spend in the Oculus store and grant the lucky random $47 as well.

Wow, they dont waste anytime, Price has gone from $479 to $629.00 on Amazon at midnight! I left one in my cart as a matter of interest and still shows as $429. Might check in morning to see what shows if I go to a check out screen.

    • And…. Fuuu $789 for 256gb who in earth will buy that… … meta you are out of your meta

      • My basket upon checkout changed to $629. Dam as might have checked out if it was still at $479 on another account I have as you can only buy one per person. Crazy or what!

One gets an error of: We're sorry. This item has a limited purchase quantity. We have changed your purchase quantity to the maximum allowable (which is 0). Glad I grabbed when $479.

        • Now showing as $574.00 so they must have discounted it a little. Ends up as a 19.8% increase rather than the 31.3% if left at silly $629.

          • @Borg: I managed to get one at $479 price just after midnight. I’m wondering if I get Beat Saber free given I have purchased from 1 August. Also anyone know how the referrals work? Can I still sign up for the referral credit when I register my system?

            • @Champagne Comedy: use a referral link - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/oculus.com before you first log onto the quest

If you've done that, should work.

            • @Champagne Comedy: They probabaly held off till after 2am as Perth is 2 hours behind.
Beat Saber free: I think that is for new pricing, let us know. The referral will score you $47.

              • @Borg: I just got an email about beat saber after activiating it today and purchasing a couple minutes before midnight

                • @Applause: Thanks for the tips. How did you activate without receiving the product? Do you mean activating the referral?

                  • @Champagne Comedy: Yes you can accept and do the referral bit now, then later when you get the device it will recognise that you have referred.

If you confused just wait till you get your oculus and do all in one go

                  • @Champagne Comedy: Activating as in setting it up. I received it today. I also activated the referral before I set it up.

                  • @Champagne Comedy: I bought on 30th and only just activated it today. Like yourself, got the email:
Beat Saber came included with your new Meta Quest 2, and is ready to redeem and download. Offer expires August 16, 2022.
