Excellent toaster. So much better and even toast compared to default Kmart one.

Kinda suprised. Assumed all toasters were the same.

I find kmart pretty even but dont have a comparision

    • I've been using a crappy Aldi one for about 10 years and it low key drives me insane because I swear the dial does nothing. You cook one slice and it's perfect and then do another and it burns. I feel like maybe this is my opportunity to get a good toaster, but I'm also suspicious of whether I'll really care.

      • I didn’t know the difference until I found out myself. There’s no way I’d go back now. If you can spend $89 on the toaster for chance to fix your problem with current toaster, I’d say go for it. I personally have the non LCD version of this toaster and can say that it delivers consistent performance.

Would take it if it was stainless steel.

Fantastic device. Got one 12 years ago. Used heavily and still works as new. Would love to buy a spare for the price but I will try not to :)

  • How's the current flow in tub?

  • Looks good! I like kitchenaid stuff. How did you find it?? It doesn't come up when looking through the regular menus or search

    • You can't find it unless you use the item number.

      • Yeah that's what I did after. Just was wondering how to spot sucha good bargain if you don't have the item number

How do these compare to Kmart shit? Been using $10 toaster my whole life and bread turns out good 99% of the time. Should I buy this?

    • Can't compare kmart to this one but i have had smeg and electrolux and kmart one shits over both those.

      • Do Kmart ones take wide toast? Mine doesn't and it's annoying.

Can you taste the difference between a $250 and $10 toaster? Using the bread from the same loath?

      • +9

I’m loath to correct people but I loathe that spelling of loaf

      • Very true. But if this were all there was to it Luxury car sales would be zilch. Sometimes it matters how you get there. Price per wear; Mine busted after 10 years; assume 2 slices of toast every day (conservative estimate for my family of 4) that’s 3650days x 2 slices = 7300 slices in 10 years. $89/7300 makes ~1.2c per slice.

Give the cat another goldfish, Light another cigar with another US paper $100. Chuck that old toaster….

        • but $10/7300 = 0.13c

          • @SS625: It certainly is. Any time you feel like making me a .13c slice of toast so I don’t have to have to press down the spring levered handle I’d be honoured to breakfast with you.

    • Haha I just upgraded to this after our Kmart one speed staying down. I was gonna fix it but figured i should but something that isn't gonna go into landfill. I'll probably end up fixing the Kmart one of I find some time before I die

    • I have a kmart toaster and does not cook evenly. Need to flip the bread half way through. Sounds like maybe I got a dud machine.

    • my Kmart one still works fine, its been 7 years already

Cheers, wife will be happy at christmas

  • Too bad not the empire red one to match my mixer. Would’ve jumped on it.

    • It’s their signature colour unlike this colour; very unlikely you’ll ever get Empire Red motorised toasters that cheap

      • +2
      • Maybe not THAT cheap but it's available in Empire Red on Kogan for $179 delivered (with free postage coupon) and for only $6 more you can get the four slice version ($185 - clearance sale) but may have to pay for postage.

So… are there any good AND cheap toasters?

Feels like toaster technology is going backwards, or rather just no where

This toaster was already mentioned, but holy hell, check it out - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OfxlSG6q5Y

Why do all the toasters I've used, no matter how expensive, burn one side and not the other? Why is the browning so uneven? Why do they have blue LEDs? And why the hell can't I get long slice ones?

It feels like I have to use the grill to do it right, but it takes too much babying on my part to make sure toast doesn't burn.

    • Funny video. Cheers for sharing but annoying they haven't reproduced it. Crazy they haven't as there are a few articles online saying why not.. just needs to be marketed well.

Owned this beast for 10 years. It broke a month ago. I paid full price for a new one. $179. As far as I know there is nothing else competing with it in its automatic toaster class. Highly recommend.

  • OK I have one of these in steel/black I purchased 5 years ago for $179. It is the best toaster ever.

Produces perfectly browned toast every time. And Choice magazine agrees. It is their highest ranked toaster.

Has a silent motorised lower and lift function that never fails and a keep warm function that you never thought you needed until you use it. Looks good and easy to keep clean.

My only gripe is that the crumb tray doesn't seem to catch all of the crumbs and if you shake the toaster to shake those crumbs free they go into crevices in the toaster that are impossible to reach and will never come out. Not really a problem because they are out of reach of the element and don't butn but knowing they are in there somewhere frustrates the heck out of me.

Oh and I just bought another one because of this deal. Because you can never have too much of a good thing, right?

Thanks for the insights, much appreciate it.. as I'm in need of, one.
What better way to get this, which seems to be a good buy at the time…looking forward to making use of it.

In for "my $10 Kmart toaster can do the same thing" comments and I'm not disappointed!

  • So bought one for my mum as I know she'll never pay this much for a toaster and we always gripe when we visit and try to cook crumpets in their KMart special (so ends up burnt on the bottom and dry to get it cooked properly on the top).

And then realised my Breville Smart Toaster is getting a bit long and it's > $200 to replace. So changed the order to 2 so I've got a spare for the Breville (which BTW is awesome).

  • Bought one for $17 at Kmart just a few weeks ago!

  • Thank you OP I bought one last night and it arrived today ! :)

    • Is it good ?
