  • Looks like a solid keyboard at a good price! Cherry Browns too.

Cherry Browns; not the most 'tactile' of switches. Feel linear in comparison to others.

  • At this price I'd want at least 2 of
    - detachable cable
    - hotswap sockets
    - PBT keycaps
Marketing for this doesn't mention any of the above so I'm assuming these features are absent here.

    USB passthrough is neat though.

    • These are not the concerns of the typical consumer, but rather of a keyboard enthusiast.

If a keyboard enthusiast buys a branded gaming keyboard, they're setting themselves up for a failure

Rubbish. The successor to this board, the Strix Flare 2, has hotswap sockets and PBT keycaps. These are no longer enthusiast features. They are simply modern features.

For example, the Razer Huntsman Mini, a branded gaming keyboard, has detachable cable and PBT keycaps and is often cheaper than this.

This keyboard needs to be much cheaper to be competitive.

The mini keyboard has a detectable cable because it's marketed for travel, its….mini, king.

A stationary keyboard that isn't going anywhere, a regular consumer, does not care, they just but the keyboard they like, with the switches they like, keycaps that gets the job done, with all the bells and whistles that comes with it.

I am a keyboard enthusiast, my husband doesn't give 2 shits, just like his friends doesn't.

          You misappropriate the market.

          Should it be cheaper? Sureee!
But that's the gaming industry, anything categorized as gaming is automatically high, big price tag to excuse it's "UNIQUE FEATURES"

A keyboard enthusiast doesn't go to Centre Com for supplies, they have better channels and markets to supply their high-end specifically required supplies from.

You can idealize keyboards all you like, regular consumer doesn't care.

@The Milk Man: I agree that regular consumers don't care. But even for these people, why should they buy this keyboard at $160? EVGA Z20 has basically the exact same feature set and normally costs under $100, including right now on Amazon.

At this price, this deal is under-featured for enthusiasts and over-priced for non-enthusiasts.

Just to be clear, I never said the features I listed are things that everyone must care about. But again, at this price point of $160, if you're not getting these features, what exactly are you getting?

@EdgyEggplant: Well, I definitely agree with you! I've deviated from the gaming market a while ago learning what rubbish is served us with a hefty price tag. Never looked back, really.

I agree this is terrible value and a sane person that doesn't look to entertain a gen-x gamer should look elsewhere , lol.

But you gotta have DEM RGB LIGHTS SO IT'LL MAKE YOU BETTER

  • The flare 2 animate looks dope
