      agreed. probs the best bang for your buck for your entry into the world of espresso. the only thing cheaper would be getting something 2nd hand.

        Bought an entry level ( $200 +- ) Breville coffe machine 17 years ago slightly lower model than this and loved

        it and never looked back. Had a few more expensive models and all failed, this one still going ( was unused for about 5 years ).

      I've got this in a holiday house we rent out via AirBnB - ripper of a machine that is simple to use. Personally I would rate this much higher than a Dedica.

      At this price there isn't much that can touch it.

      Destroys it easily.

      Actual proper machine, where they have cut costs is made everything including the controls as simple as possible while still having the guts of the more expensive brevilles.

      Delonghi machines at this price point are clearly built down to a price (I'm being polite).
      I returned mine since it became dangerous and bought a Breville Infuser - massive upgrade. (Since then have moved up the Breville Range).
      This Duo Temp is only missing the programmed shot volume of the Infuser.
      I reckon it's a bargain at this price.

      Aluminium portafilter feels a bit cheap and nasty
      Pressurised baskets fake the crema
      Awful "panarello" steam wand just creates a meringue. Using the inner flexible rubber wand can work in a pinch but flies off and needs to be secured with e.g. a cable tie or something.
      -Plastic construction is a bit dodgy
      -Thermocoil is a not ideally posiitoned with quite a long tube connecting it to the showerscreen (meaning the delivered water temperature is less well controlled)

      Optional: Dedica can be modded with a better steam wand for better texture, add pressurised basket for real crema with fresh beans

      Can froth no different to the higher end brevilles imo. Just takes a little bit longer to get up to pressure and temp.

          As long as you shoot all your shots of espresso first, then steam all your milk you should be fine. The only waiting will be the transition between shots and steam. Otherwise it should be able to handle it, although I wouldn't advise buying such a low end home machine to make more than 3 coffees at once all the time.

      I've got the Dual Boiler, and I bought this one for my mum last year. The machines can both froth milk the same, but it takes a lot longer on this one, which does introduce some issues, mainly around your technique.

    I've got the all silver model, presuming it's basically the same build it's a great machine. All metal exterior except the cup tray thingy on top. The only complaint I have is that the water tank could be bigger. I find I have to fill it up more than I imagined (though that's water + steam use).

    In the market for an espresso machine myself, I was hoping to get the bambino plus but there haven't been any deals lately. Might just have to pull the trigger on this deal, but just don't want to be upgrading constantly.

      Unless you turn into a coffe making/drinking enthusiast and your constantly chasing the "idea" of a better shot/coffe,

      you will be happy to use this, perfect your grind and skills, and you'll be even happier.

      I upgraded and actually preferred my cheaper/simpler Breville I started with as shots were usually as good and not so finneky.

      "Cheap but quality" for espresso is usually a mirage.
      Anyhow depends on budget:

      (manual grinder) Timemore Nano manual $150-175
      Breville Smart Grinder Pro is reasonable with some clumping for around $200 on special
      (manual grinder) $225 -$250 such as the 1zpresso JX Pro
      Next price tier up to $650 or so are the Eureka Specialita, DF64, etc
