I dont know why but i don't buy Gigabyte products anymore. :) hardware nexus killed them for me forever.. also my gigabyte HD7970 didnt even last 3 years

      • +1

idk my gigabyte b550 motherboard is an absolute (profanity) charm

      • +5

Meanwhile my 2011 era Gigabyte motherboard in my gaming pc is still going strong… it pays to not place too much value on the the thoughts or experiences of one information source.

  • finally its at RRP yes people buy this.

I don't hear the people saying graphics cards are over priced. maybe they will miss out again with this one.

    • +5

I would not buy now, prices are going down each week.
Intel Q2 launch, Eth Merge etc.

      • Yep, it is a decent enough card, but unless you are desperate to buy wait a few weeks at least, Multiple events are potentially about to hit that may have big impacts on prices in march.

      • Merge with what? with the hodler?, did you watch Vitalik interview?

This is RRP? 6600 XT had an RRP of $589, feels like they'd put in a bigger difference than $40 (I couldn't find what the RRP is for the 6600 online though for Australia, but it was $50US cheaper).

Definitely hitting reasonablish price territory, although not surprisingly it's the worst value for money card hitting it first. A good 15% slower than the 6600 XT. $550 for a card just to run games at 1080p on high quality in 2022 still seems a lot though.

      • +3

The 6600 was initially released for $569 in Australia (PowerColor Fighter model, from PCCG). The 6600 came out after 6600 XT, which by then the 6600 XT already went up in price (to like $6xx or $7xx), and so did 6600's release pricing catch up.

        • +1

6600 was the first launch I followed closely because I regretted not getting a 6600 XT at launch, and I remember the lowest price being $529. I didn't bite because the XT launch price was either $579 or $589, and the gap in performance was way bigger than the gap in price

I run all my games in 1440p but I don't run all games in ultra though but still most run at 60 to 165fps or more with the right quality settings depending on the game. I tweaked Red dead redemption for example at 1440p looks great quality wise and runs between 80 to 100fps. so I am happy with this 6600 XT card :D

    • If you haven't read this yet, no one will miss out anything, only regret if you buy them too early.

    • its overpriced even at RRP

OP your link for the ASRock Challenger is still the Eagle (should be this: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/265528845579)

The ASUS Dual model is $20 more expensive: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/265528845335 (in case if the ASRock and Gigabyte models sell out, but hopefully won't get there)

These are good prices, but I still recommend stumping up the extra for the 6600 XT. The sapphire nitro model is ~$710 at the moment from shopping express with their sale.

Prices coming down ⤵️⤵️⤵️ It was worth while holding. Now waiting for the other models to come down too. Let’s see.

    • -3

or you could have bought one 2yrs ago and been using it paying for itself mining and now well into profit zone when not gaming.

      • I am not in a rush to get more until prices come down.

    • +3

How good does it feel now we're getting back to the right prices and now its not a matter of "get the cheapest china iGame/Colourful GPU" And now we are back to "I prefer real brands like MSI/ASUS/Gigabtye, etc."

    Hopefully Bitcoin dies this year.

    • +3

What does Bitcoin have to do with graphics cards?
Don't they use ASIC's to mine new coins?

      • +3

bitcoin dies = alts die = less income for gpu miners

        • +1

Eth is not an Alt anymore.

          • -2

@Jessie Ryder: i actually don't care if its an alt or not, just trying to communicate really

i don't like politics, btc maxis vs eth maxis i can't tell who is more cringe, just people who want the bags pumped higher mostly lol

          • @Jessie Ryder: An altcoin is literally any coin that isn't Bitcoin. So yes, eth is an alt.

      • Bitcoin ASICs have as much 5nm wafer allocation as AMD. If BTC wasn't a thing everything would be cheaper.

    • +1

it is almost certain to die, but usually it just resurrects itself after a while

    • +1

      Bitcoin is antifragile.

      • Nassim Taleb fan?

Prices should be going down further though…

    • Thanks, saved myself the extra $10

    • Note this is an asrock 2 fan card as opposed to the gigabyte 3 fan, whether that makes a difference to you for the odd $10 you save is up to you.

      • for me the shorter size is more beneficial than the extra fan given the 6600 runs so cool its ridiculous

    • Thanks!

  • +1

Are the GPU prices declining? $549 still abit much for a lower-mid(?) tier card.

    • +2

      Both things can be true

  • +1

what's this equivalent to in Nvidia?

    • +1

      3060'ish

    • +2

      Average performance wise, on-par with RTX 2060 Super/RTX 2070.

In terms of RTX 3000 series, RX 6600 is ~20-30% better performing than RTX 3050, and on-par with RTX 3060 for 1080p, while ~5-10% less in 1440p.

I hope to god Bitcoin was Tulip 2.0 when we look back at it in the future.

    • crypto is just the natural progression of finance

we are just in a transition phase

  • +3

Just hold….hold boys & girl! Next month we will be able to suck on the juicy plums of Nvidia & AMD Gpus for a even lower price!
