  • No webcam right?

Does this normally have a good battery life for normal non intensive use?

    • Excellent battery life. I can get ~8-9 hours of casual use. No webcam which is becoming a pain.

        Ooh that's good.

Yeah I made wait for the 2022 refresh which has a webcam. Hopefully it won't be ridiculously expensive.

Is this a good deal? I’m currently looking for a gaming laptop 70% general use 30% gaming I’m looking around $1700-$2000 Australian

Just don’t wanna buy one and regret it if a better deal comes up

    • battery life and screen is good, main thing is this model doesn't have a webcam, you can only get that on this years' models (which aren't being sold yet)

    • Do you mean a good deal in general or are you referring to this specific model?
I believe you are paying a premium for the Asus ROG Zephyrus build quality, which appears to be pretty solid. Historically, it does look like this a pretty decent price, although the dGPU is a couple (or more) generations old.
In general, you can get about the same level of performance (i.e internals and screen) for a much more competitive price as with the recent HP Victus deal.

      • Yeah I mean a good deal in general, so many brands and options to choose from I don’t want an overkill laptop I don’t need but I also don’t want to buy one that’s

I guess it's a good idea to be clear about your expected usage (what sort of 30% gaming? esports? Triple A titles? General usage as in video streaming, web browsing? Education/training? Video editing?). Then you can probably narrow your search and focus on features most important to you. If build quality is a priority, business-grade laptops are usually the way to go (lenovo thinkpads, dell latitudes, asus zenbooks, hp elitebooks), although premium consumer lines are also up there (dell xps, lenovo carbon, hp spectre).
If gaming is your focus, Lenovo Legion sales seem to be popular with the crew here at ozb, and they happen fairly regularly, so I'd keep an eye out for those.
