Excuse my windows newbyness because I'm a mac user with streaked hair, skivvy, square rimmed glasses, beats by dre, etc, but I run windows 7 on boot camp sometimes when I'm not promoting world peace and curing cancer. I just have that antivirus on it that you can download and update from microsoft for free, whatever it's called defender something? Is that really crappy and should I buy this?

I just can't bring myself to ever trust Microsoft to develop and maintain a quality antivirus app. Make that of what you will.

      • What's with all the neg votes?

I use Microsoft Security Essentials (free) and it seems to work pretty good. Was using AVG (also free) before that. I find Microsoft's a bit better on system resources.

Even if it's only $25 i'll still stick with the free options.

        • probably the neg is the long self-wank post before arriving at the point that MSE is free?

$25 for 2 year kaspersky sub is a good deal, and has more control/tweaks options than MSE.

if this is the KIS, then I think it's worth the buy, as it allows you to micromanage up to the level which dll can make calls and access the internet. Amongst other features.

it would be comparable to the avast internet security, imo.

MSE is for someone (like me) who don't want to pay nor pirate a kaspersky/avast. However, I find that MSE is too simplistic.

        • It doesn't have the same size virus database as these companies. So if you got a virus you might not know

It's called Microsoft Security Essentials. No AV is perfect but Kaspersky's one of the few that scores quite high on AV tests: http://www.av-test.org/en/tests/test-reports/janfeb-2012/

$25 for 2 years is a very good price, compared to say Norton.

      • but norton is currently paying you to use their product lol

  • I know that Aldi have very store specific deals.
Does anyone know which stores this is available at?

    • All.

      • But might be a limited number per store.

  • isn't the $11.90 for 1 year(ebay) a better bargain than this?

    • links pls? is that including delivery?

    • you could be sent a pirate/illegitimate keys?
      No warranty?
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Kaspersky-Internet-Security-2012-…

      • I am a newb but I would agree that you could be sent a dodgy deal..

        • +1

but hey norton 360 is having a $60 cash back deal, so you could even make a profit out of it

      • Not very likely on things like AV.
These are cheap probably because they are OEM packages/keys from system builders who probably have dozens of extras and no need for them.

    • yeah eBay much better deal, you don't get key of the seller, they give you like a serial number and then Kaspersky send out the cd key to your email. that what I've done few months back.hope this helps

  • Cheap Kaspersky deals on eBay are often dodgy…I know I've bought a few…keys don't work and you have to ask for another key.

OEM product is only 1 year licence…..this is a GOOD DEAL!
