No Aptx, AptxHD ! C'mon at a retail price of 379$ (on amazon), these things should be the norm !

    • +1

Majority don't even care about AptX or AptxHD at this price range. Probably listening to Spotify on low quality through their Sony XM3/4 on the subway with ANC on right?

Low latency Aptx might be different perhaps.

    • If I'm not mistaken, the only over-ear BT headphones that inlcude ALL the codecs you'd want (AptX HD, AAC and LDAC) are the Sony 1000XM3 (not XM4) and the Shure Aonic 50. Any other headphones and you're sacrificing one or more of those codecs.

      • And when you are getting the XM3/XM4 you are sacrificing other things like sound signature/ability/quality etc, so if you are set on getting average cans with great ANC and very specific on what codec you use for some reason, then XM3/XM4 are the only real way to go. Otherwise there are loads of incredible cans. Even many audiophiles I know rarely care about codecs on BT commuter cans.

    • Dear Borat, Bose thats costs double to this does not have it either. It is more about implementation than anything else.

How do these rate against xm3/4 or qc3/45?

Ive picked up a pair of these from this deal, and from my morning of reading reviews

Sonys = Best audio, good noise cancelling, good comfort, terrible mic
Bose QC35/QC45 = Good audio, best cancelling, best comfort, good mic
Bose 700 = Good audio, best cancelling, good comfort, very best mic
Jabras = Good audio, Ok cancelling, good comfort, best mic

So it depends what you will be doing. Purely music you are best with the Sonys, purely doing Teams and Zoom is the Bose 700s. Long listening (e.g. flights) is the Bose QCs and these seem to be a good all-rounder bang-for-your-buck kinda thing. Better in Teams/Zoom than everything but the Bose 700, pretty good at audio, not great at cancelling and fairly comfortable. I bought a pair to sit in my drawer at work just because my other options have issues (Bose QC25 are wired and shitty mic, Airpods are good mic but don’t multi-point very well and let in a lot of noise).

I actually have 3 of the 4 headphones at home. (Sonys, bose 700 and 85H)

that summary is extremely close. Except IMO the mic is better on the Jabras and the sony has the best ANC.

I actually use the Jabras everyday (for work) because they are the most comfortable AND the 36+ hour talk time, means i only need to charge them once a week.

        • so far I agree with this. My voice is much clearer to the other party compared with QC35 (series II if it matters).

  • i bought these and they were delivered on Sunday.

I also have the qc35 and although NC isnt as good, it seems these sound much better to the other side of a phone call.

The annoyance I have is since they turn on/off by turning the earpiece, they can turn off mid call. Happened to me a few times so far and its bloody annoying.

I'm going to give them a run for a week or so and if it keeps happening, they're going back. It'd be a shame as they are brilliant for zoom/teams etc.

The true test for me is whether they will perform like my qc35's in a noisy data centre. Not so much to cancel noise for me but rather to cancel sound for the other party when I am on a call.
