  • Damn that's a nice price for a newer Seiko 5.

Only don't like the circular hour markers, prefer the older Seiko 5 dashes.

  • +1

The green one (which I've been eyeing for a while) went down from $309 to $299 recently.

    • That's the one I want too

      • I've seen it in the jeweller's windows in various malls (at crazy prices) and the colour is amazing.

        Must….resist….

        • +3

….Well we now know how this ended xD

    • That green is so nice

    • Which green one out of interest? The two I've seen are priced at another $30 - unless it's at another place you saw it drop.

      • +2

        Likely referring to the srpd61k

        • Yes. although "green" doesn't really do it justice.

          • @gadgetguy: Yeah it's a very nice teal sort of green, it looked nice but wasn't sure it was worth the extra $40. Definitely if prices were closer

  • +1

Thanks OP. Was eyeing this Seiko 5 for a very long time. And pulled the trigger.

  • +3

I didn't know I was going to buy a watch when this day started, but now I have. Damn you OzBargain!

  • Only downside to this model is the crown guard is a little sharp on the underside and can dig into your hand.

  • Tempting… I have been eyeing islander watch as well. Anyone has experience with islander watch?

    • I have an lslander lume dial flieger (ISL-48) no complaints, great spec, its nicely finished, good lume, strap was ok, keeps time. I have been looking at their smaller divers as well, I have yet to pull the trigger because the right combination has not crossed my path.

If you want the 38mm then its pretty unique, there aren't many other options yet. However, I suspect the likes of San Martin (love my SN007G-V4) may be working on something, smaller watches are appearing on AliExpress (SM has a new 37mm 62MAS homage, plenty of 36-37mm Explorer homages etc)

  • Anyone have experience regarding these Seiko 5s? I have a skx but never had a seiko 5 but this looks pretty nice.

    • +1

Yea I have the black stealth one. I love it. Keeps good time and looks great. Can’t go wrong honestly.

    • +3

I own the srpd63k (dark green with rose gold accents), keeps good time, great lume and looks classy imo - here's some pics #1 #2

      • Looks nice but not my taste.

        • +3

Best wishes on finding the sweet spot price or continue resisting the green version you're after :)

          • +1

@jerdp: Goddammit - looking at it again was too much and I caved :-)

            • @gadgetguy: sorry for the peer pressure haha
Congrats! From others past comments and experience with Starbuy, they are pretty good with their support if you find any issues with your watch order from them :)

              • +1

@jerdp: And mine already arrived. It looks lovely.

                • @gadgetguy: Nice and quick! Feel free to share some pics to help those considering of getting the same colour :)

      • +2

Everything is tempting, ozbargain making me go broke.

        • +9

I hear ya … watches I got from ozbargain posts to date XD

          • @jerdp: Is that a Casio duro black?

            What strap is that?

            • +1

@cwongtech: Yup, the strap I got from here

              • @jerdp: Nice looking strap. Would those work for the above watch or are those bands not changeable?

                • +1

@dylan123: You can order that strap on a size that fits the lug width of your watch. Those straps seem to have 18mm, 20mm, and 22mm sizes available.

So for the casio duro and seiko 5 - both watches have 22mm lug width, so you can get a 22mm width size of that strap and be able to use it on both.

          • @jerdp: Lol I thought I was bad but mostly resisted in the past. Got the casioak, blue duro, g-shock 5600 cheap one and both citizen divers from starbuy 1 day deal.

Still thinking about this one or whether to spend extra on an Orient Kamasu.

For a cheaper option, I am tempted to buy a Pagani Design to see how close to the sub it is. Ceramic bezel, sapphire crystal, a lot of bang for buck.

            • +1

@JL1: Kamasu is a very good watch. Slightly smaller than the Seiko 5 plus a sapphire crystal. I like the bigger form factor of Seiko 5 than Kamasu. It’s a tough choice to make. I own a kamasu. Now ordered this one(this price is pretty good) Either way, you won’t be disappointed as both are great watches in the price range.

              • +1

@nvnrj: Thanks for the response! It is bigger than this Seiko 5? I thought Kamasu is closer to 40mm and this one is 42.5mm?

I am more intrigued by Kamasu to be honest but that's closer to $370 from what I see on Amazon and its considered the value king. Was looking at this watch when starbuy had the dark version with band on special. Price is quite good!

                • @JL1: I meant to say Seiko 5 is larger than Kamasu.

            • @JL1: I don't think you'll go wrong with pagani design from some of the watch reviews I've seen. There's great value to be found with some of the watch offerings from aliexpress with proper research of course.

I bought a heimdallr myself to relief my itch for an orange dial watch while recouping from my big spend on the samurai dark manta cursed thee ozbargain temptation xD

I'm aware there's the side of the watch community opposed to homages but I can't find myself splurging $$$ on the resale price of the v2 seiko monster.

              • +1

@jerdp: Haha pulled the trigger on the 5kx before I saw your message. Guess the Pagani Design will have to wait until wallet fills itself again. They definitely seem to offer a lot of watch for less than $150! And at least not a complete fake, even if they are very similar. I don't feel bad if I I not trying to pass it off as a Rolex.

Your watch looks great! The black is so cool looking!

YouTube videos making me want too many watches.

          • @jerdp: mate, what is the black g-shock model? it is absolute mint!

            • +3

              @undadog: GA2100-1A1 aka casioak

            • +1

@undadog: Go get one! They were really hard to find when they first came out but now easy to get one at a discount.

              Really thin and comfortable

              • @JL1: I am meant to be saving money thru this site! instead im out here spending that $$! forget netflix subscription, blame ozbargain coz i cant buy a house! lol!

                • +1

@undadog: I think ozbargain makes you spend money on good deals, on things you may not need. Not sure about saving money, haha!

Man buying a house now, :(. I thought things were bad, since covid it's gotten next level bad. System always favour the wealthy.

                  • +1

@JL1: ozbargain has also introduced me to some really good products i'd never heard of before. now can't live without them lol…so it goes both ways

                    • @tdw: Haha like what? Ignorance is bliss, for the wallet!

                      • +1

                        @JL1: eneloops!
mechanical keyboards, watches (thanks mainly to WatchNerd), victorinox steak knives, ultraboost shoes, xiaomi gadgets…those are just off the top of my head.

          • +1

            @jerdp: That’s a very good collection mate.

      • Great photos! Can you share where you got that brown leather strap? If that's your pic, that is.
        Ta.

        • +1

This - but looks like the brown with rose gold buckle is out of stock

      • Wow… looks great!

  • Thanks got one, I've been waiting for the one in blue..

  • Too many blue these days!

  • If you order online, how do you get the strap adjusted ?

    Also, starbuy or amazon ?

    • +4

I'd personally go starbuy cos the man behind the scenes Dheepak seems like a cool fella XD but there might be cashback offers for getting it via amazon through shopback or cashrewards. Do note amazon shows the earliest delivery date of 15 March whereas you'll probably get it quicker via Starbuy (usually within 5 business days from ordering).

As for adjusting the strap, I personally do it myself as the tool is cheap enough to get via ebay etc - and it's easy enough to DIY via online video tutorials. If you're not confident you can probably get it adjusted from a local jeweler or a small watch stall for $20ish?

      • +1

I caved in and bought it, now to figure out how to earn some money. Ozbargain 1 my wallet 0.

I did want to support starbuy too so they keep giving us these specials and didn't think of the cashback from Amazon. Could have saved about $9, so for whoever buys the last one from Amazon! That one is labelled silver silver but has photo of blue watch though.

I feel it is better to do it yourself as those guys might be quite rough with a watch like these. Still need to figure out how to change links for folded links though.

      • +4

Deepak is a gun. I'm partly responsible for this deal. I emailed him after the deal on the orange dial version to see if he can offer the same price on this blue version. Within an hour he had contacted Seiko and got this deal arranged and let me know it was going live Friday. Legend.

        • You're the MVP here! Deepak too! Will surely support him more in the future, although already bought 3 watches lately so hopefully nothing attracts me anytime soon!

    • Just a few more points re Starbuy vs Amazon… Starbuy may likely give better local AU support plus they do a watch pre-inspection for defects before shipping (as per their note contained in the packaging). Amazon has its easy returns policy backing it up.
      End point.
