Why Can't I Find Procter & Gamble Laundry Detergent in Major Supermarkets?

Just for my curiosity

Why can't I find laundry detergent in major supermarkets in Sydney that are manufactured by Procter and Gamble. (P and G)?

If there is, does anyone know what brand?

Majority of the laundry detergents in Supermarkets made by Unilever, Cusson and Hankle

Is the reason Supermarket don't carry PandG brands because the company use Palm Oil that kills the Orangutans?

Probably a question for P&G directly why they don't distribute Ariel and Tide in Australia. They do for Downy and that's available in Coles so not a supermarket issue.

    AU brands: https://anz.pg.com/brands/

    US brands: https://us.pg.com/brands/

It's P&G's decision not to bring many of their products to Australian market.

    • Wow heaps missing

The irony that Aussie hair care is only available in US market

UK also by the looks of it.

Made with extracts (probably synthesised) from Australian botanicals. No other Aussie input is involved, can we claim the name back?

    • You can get downy softener and tide detergent in costco. The Australian market os probably too small for P&G to bring their laundry detergent products.

Can order online if you are not a member.

I'm going to assume it's because they use chemicals that are banned in AU & EU, the US is a bit more lax. Quick search shows that Tide was banned in Europe because it carries high levels of dioxane.

Just for curiosity, why are you looking for a P&G laundry detergent?

  • Just want to try if the product is good

It’s the same as any other equivalent product. If you think it’s better, you are likely a victim of good marketing.

Pretty sure I have seen Tide in Costco, if you have a membership.

Edit: Yup, they do have Tide.
