Why these chargers are getting to a long bar shape instead of a regular square charger?

    • +2

I prefer long bar shape, so they can fit on power boards easier. The worst are some Nintendo power adapters which are like, 0.5cm wider than they need to be so you can't plug anything else in next to it.

      • +7

Those manufacturers that do these with their plugs deserve a special place in hell. So annoying.

        • My Amazon Echo Plus charger is like that. It takes 2 slots of the power board. Will Elon Musk make a rocket to send himself to hell?

      • +1

It's not just some manufacturers, it's all over the place.
And nobody seems to know why are they designed like that. It's not that they always need the space for the electronic components, it is usually that extra plastic is added to make it block the adjacent sockets!?

        https://ux.stackexchange.com/questions/34864/why-are-ac-adap…

        • It's so lame! Absolutely the worst when it is aesthetic.

    • Probably because a lot of these brands are just coming out of the same factory that's using the same reference design…

      • I don't think so - Many have extra plastic wings added to block the adjacent sockets. I think it has little to do with the design of the power supply.

  • Thanks OP, just missed it last time

    SAA certified.

Curious that Zyron don't provide the certificates in the listings. While their competitor who they love to bag out all the time on OzBargain (Heymix) do.

    • +3

Zyron doesn't run around and follow what others are doing. It is not essential to do what one company is doing. I don't see Belkin or Anker providing certificate info in their listings, curious? Zyron is an Australian company and it is obvious that their products need RCM certification. There's nothing to brag about.

We know well now the competition from Chinese company Heymix with comments like these. It will be tough to compete with China but we are up for it :)

      • +5

This comment regarding how some companies have the plug or power cord SAA certified is what I'm referencing.

So my question to you is. If you say your products are SAA/RCM certified, why not have the certificate number in the listing? Or perhaps your posts? So people can verify that they're actually certified. I'm not saying you're lying but some confirmation would be good yeah?

        • +4

Since the rep isn't interested. The certificate number is SAA-220172-EA with the applicant and manufacturer being Shenzhen Heincro Technology Co., Ltd.

This is not secret information though. Zyron are obviously rebadging Heincro chargers and there's nothing wrong with that either. They're certified. Just would be good if Zyron would list their SAA numbers instead of criticising their competitors about certification when they already list them.

          • @Clear: Absolute legend mate. Do you have any other examples of (rebadged) heincro chargers?

            • @abadacus: Yep the big one is Baseus. Some of their chargers are the same.

            • -2

@abadacus: @abadacus - Everyone rebadges. Heymix rebadges Shenzhen Hongda Shun Technology Development Co., Ltd. chargers and Foshan G-Power chargers. Curious why the legend not mention them and only bring up Zyron and Baseus.

  • I missed out by minutes on the previous batch. Got one this time. Thanks OP.

  • There's a 2 star rating there. Should I ignore it?

    • Check out the discussion on the previous deal. There's some good discussion of the pros and cons of this model there. The Pros are scattered throughout. The main Con is in Tim Mc's comment towards the bottom of the second page, but doesn't affect my particular use case.

Hopefully some more Ozbargainers that bought the last deal do reviews so that we can benefit from their experiences.

  • What are the benefits of GaN3 over GaN? The 66W GaN one has travel adaptors

    • I would like to know this as well
