  • Is a 6600M on the same league as a 3060?

Also I assume battery life is is non existent.

    • Someone may have a better answer but afaik the 6600M is slightly better than the 3060.

no its not, you might be thinking about the desktop 6600xt vs 3060.

Jarrod did a comparison between 6600m and 3060, and while they trade blows over different games, 3060 is overall better card, and in games with DLSS/FSR support 6600m is a good 20% slower, 3060 also got RT and nvnec support and across productivity benchmarks 3060 is better.

They trade blows depending on game

bad screen for paying this much.

if you're bent on getting an Omen, get an option with 3060, it comes with a good panel (100% sRGB, fast refresh)

although I must admit I had problems with my unit, and appalling experience with support, and returned for full refund

also mobile ryzen has less pcie lanes for dGPU and i7 with 3060 will be faster than 6600m on ryzen for fast paced fps. everything else difference will be negligible

    • Couldn't agree more about the screen, especially for anyone who will game portably. You lose so much by playing with a good GPU on a poor screen.

It's been mentioned on all the HP deals the last couple days, but it's frustrating how HP seems to randomly decide which SKUs will get better screens, and you have to carefully research before purchase.

  • Poor screen rest looks ok

Dont usually neg deals but this is trash.

2k for an 1080p 60% srgb panel? and no mux switch? mate this is just a sad piece of machine that 2k should be it's normal price, not its sale pricing

6600m also barely trade blows with 3060 but once you factor in DLSS and RT the 3060 is straight up better. Refer to jarrods review of the 6600m vs 3060.

To anyone thats interested in this, please don't. The dell g15 with an equivalent trash panel but comes with 3060 and mux switch goes on sale quite a few times for 1.7k. If you dont care about the lack of mux switch theres the kraken with 3070 for only 1.9k and have a 2k165hz panel (but you have to get your own windows key). Or you can wait for a legion 5/5p sale which will net you a much better out of the box experience.

If you really like/want to support amd for some reason, do consider the g15 advantage a thought. That's with the 5900hx, 6800m (better than a 3070laptop, just slightly below a 3080laptop), and a 2k165hz 100% DCI P3 panel. It is 700$ extra but that's worth its pricepoint while this is certainly not worth spending 2k at.

    • What is this 'mux switch' you speak of?

      • Please refer to this great video by jarrods tech

TLDR: turning it on gives you higher fps, this is especially evident in fps intensive esport titles like csgo, valorant, siege, league etc

    • I agree. The Omen 17 3080 deal the other day was a much better HP offer

  • do the omens still suffer from thermal problems and coil whine still?
