Got this on a flyer in the post with the new flybuys card.

Not a bad deal for a fairly newly released cheapo android phone. Running 2.3.3, 800Mhz processor, and a GPU.

Beware: low res 320x480 screen, 512MB RAM, 130MB Storage, locked to Telstra. No idea how to unlock.

    BarryOne - I went with mobiworkshop, and it took 24 hours for a response. When I prompted them tonight, they said the server had been down. Anyway, they then sent the code within minutes.
    It worked perfectly and phone is now unlocked.

      Mate read above. Try mobi he works! boyal you will have to wait up to 72 hours as he is using another server or some crap. Has to do the long service not the fast code service…

      boyal_soondh cannot unlock the latest batch of LG Optimus Spirit (P690). I tried cell_techs and he did provide the correct code. In fact, he actually let you know what all 3 codes are for, whereas boyal_soondh gives you 3 codes without explaning what the other 2 codes are for.

      People reported success from call_techs and since call_techs is the cheaper one, might be better go choose call_techs.

      You need to give the seller a bit of time - due to timezone difference and they do take a bit of time to get the code.

    Finally picked one up in Sydney Northern Beaches. After umm'ing and ahh'ing I figured $45ish was too good to pass up on.

    Noticed the home/launcher screen is a bit laggy, but all other menu's and operations run really snappy and nice. Will try a ADWLauncher EX and see how that goes.

    I've also purchased an unlock from mobi.. waiting for that to come through.

      Definitely 100x improvement with a new launcher. Smooth as butter. ADW.Launcher or ADW.Launcher EX (paid) is much much better than the default.

    I just got the unlock code from mobiworkshop and unlocked my phone. It takes 24 hours. I was told by the seller, this model (LG p690f) is not supported by fast servers, can only get the code from a slow server, which takes up to 24 hours.

      This "mobiworkshop" is not as good as before now. I helped my friend to bought a p690f unlock code, it took 30+ hours. but anyway the code still work without problem.

    If you're not interested in the FlyBuy points: my local Coles didn't have any stock so I took the ad into Kmart next door and asked if they will price match (they had plenty of stock at $99.00). They were reluctant but with a little prodding they agreed.

    Just checked on the number of unlocks sold, when i ordered mine, 56 were sold.

    now: More than 10 available / 140 sold as of saturday 5th may 5.45pm left coast time.

    So they have sold heaps, maybe to ozbees?

          I sent them a message via the ebay "contact seller" i think it was or "ask a the seller a question"

          I received an email from them via ebay advising that i had won the item, and i sent them the reference number from paypal as well.
          Best to send them all the details of the phone and imei etc.

          I actually wondered how to do it just as you and the above worked ok.

    Have had problems with this phone, only had it 2 days.
    Took back to Coles, they replaced it.
    Would not answer calls and no way to do so apart from touch screen.

      It now cost US$2.05 but code still received in less than 12 hours and it seems to work.

      The instructions weren't great though. After you enter 2945#690# as a phone number another menu pops up with unlock options (I think the correct selection is "SIM Network unlock" or something). I had some error popping up the first time I did it but just entered 2945#690# from scratch and it eventually worked.

      For others interested you just give your phone model, IMEI and e-mail in the attached message when you buy the item on eBay and you should eventually receive the following e-mail…

      1. Switch the telephone on with Original SIM card inside.

      2. Enter 2945#*690#

      3. SIM unlock mode will appear on screen.

      4. Enter unlock code

      The phone has a cheap, plasticky feel and Telstra bloatware but is otherwise great value. Wi-Fi connection speed is amazing.

      the thing i don't like about cm7 is that it makes everything smaller. the dock bar is smaller. the status bar at the top is smaller. i quite like the stock lg dock bar because it has big spaced icons to press.

    I bought 2 of these phones this evening. I had to go to 2 different coles stores, and my flybys card wouldn't work at the second…but the people at coles didn't care, they just gave me a temporary flybys card to use.

    There is plenty of stock at warriwood square on the northern beaches.

    does anyone know how do you get it for $45? i paid $49.50 yesterday from Bilos with my flybuys card. Actually i did the Coles Tell us survey to get $5 OFF with my grocery bill which with the phone came to over $100. I called many Coles but they were all sold out. If anyone still wants one today is the last day try and call Bi Lo's as they still have a few left. The staff on the phone mention that this model is being replaced soon as they received internal memo. I couldn't get any more info so i'm not going to open the box yet as i have 30 days to return it. Anyone know the price and specs of the new model replacing the Lg Optimus Spirit ? i think you need to activate the sim number located on the outside of the box to get the 1000 flybuy points? now i just need to find a free or very cheap way to unlock it. has anyone tried calling Telstra telling them they are going overseas on holidays to get a free unlock code? What if you root the OS will that remove the unlock?

    The $45 will be with one of those coles $5 off voucher things.

    Unlock for around $2 via ebay or sometimes in the past other ozbees here have done it.

    For the price its a bargain.

    Read the fine print on the deal very carefully… mine had to be activated by july 22 i think to get the $10 credit.

    I got 30 days? to use the credit, not the 14 stated on the box.

    coles now have the new LG optimus LX model for $49.50 if you use a different flybuys card. Is the L3 model any better or not then the LG Optimus Spirit? i think it might have 1gb ram and a different screen? i haven't opened up my box yet i wonder if its worth exchanging for the new model as it has more internal memory 1GB? here's compare link from lg but i don't know how accurate it is? http://www.lg.com/au/common/compare/products-compare-result.…
