It's a great price on this set, but rather than a sale/special price, I think it is a promotion that seems to hang around until stock is exhausted. Then rinse and repeat in six months or so.
I have both tools and for DIY, they're great value and work well.

Regular price, I almost think the brushed kit with the two 1.5ah batteries is better value at $169 though. Brushed tools are better but a 4ah battery makes them quite heavy if you're holding on to it most of the day, plus it's annoying if you're drilling a lot of holes and putting screws in as you go having to share the battery between tools.

    • +2

Let me get this straight; you think a more expensive set, with smaller battery capacity, and measurably worse tools is a better deal??

      • +3

In this type of set, 2 batteries are a must IMO and I definitely prefer the smaller capacity than a 4ah on a drill or impact driver. Do some work above your head and you'll soon appreciate the lighter weight. For most weekend warriors that these tools are aimed at, 1.5ah is plenty in a drill driver with a fast charger as it only takes 30mins for a full charge. They're also not likely to notice the difference between brushed and brushless,if they are they should probably be looking at better tools to begin with.

Still depends on what you do. Brushless motor with 4Ah battery is much powerful than Brushed motor with 2Ah battery in similar settings. I thought brushed motors was okay until not.

The drill in this set is okay for most of cases, but if you do need to drill into masonry, you would probably need a brushless hammer drill or even better a SDS drill.

          • @[Deactivated]: I was surprised by this, as I had assumed that the batteries just had a lower capacity, not lower output as well!

My Ryobi shop blower and my hand vacuum are both much more powerful when I use my 4ah battery compared to my 2ah and 2.5ah batteries.

But yeah, I can understand why some might want to a smaller battery for better mobility. Depends on the use case for sure.

            • @BrotherEstapol: The reason behind is actually pretty simple: for 4Ah or even bigger batteries, there are two sets of cells in parallel, so they are able to provide twice as much current the 1.5Ah or 2Ah ones can, and sometimes the bigger batteries also use better cells which allows bigger current too. You won't notice much difference if you only use it for light duties such as assembly chipboard furniture as such jobs does not requite much current at all. But if you are doing something heavy duty, such as drilling into masonry etc., two times of current can really make a difference.

        • One could argue that either set is overkill. I've owned a brushless drill for years (use it most weekends) and haven't required an impact driver yet.

Most will purchase a set and will either never even unbox it, or just sell it.

I have this set and got it for the price listed by OP a few months ago.

Having used both tools a number of times now, whitelie has a few valid points. I use it for home DIY, never more than for 20minutes at a time and find the 4.0ah battery a little heavy. Have also required both tools at once and had to switch the one battery between the drills. That's why I'm thinking of purchasing a second, smaller capacity, battery for convenience.
I've charged the 4.0ah battery once and not had to do it in the last few months, so it really is excessive and not worth the weight. Would gladly take two 1.5ah batteries instead.

Brushless is better than the alternative, or so I've read, but I wouldn't really know and probably couldn't tell you the difference if they were side by side.

Not sure why you're negging whitelie, because for anyone looking to buy a set there are more factors to consider than just the price. People should be informed.

    • Each to their own but personally (I use Milwaukee) I’d much prefer brushless and a larger battery, especially if you’re using it most of the day. Having said that, Ozito wouldn’t be my go-to for trade jobs or where they’re getting constant daily use.

      • -2

Brushless for a trade without a doubt but the market these are aimed at, it's a wasted economy

        • +2

          Well you said..

if you're holding on to it most of the day.

          DIY’ers likely aren’t doing that.

          • @ElectrkJonesy777: Sure, not day in, day out but I've definitely spent full days/weekends using my drill and impact doing projects around the house

  • I have this and it is really great value for money. It’s not a sale per say but it is a promotional kit that only comes out every now and then. I recon it’s a great deal for a brushless drill and driver + battery and fast charger.

Just a heads up. Bunnings insisted that they wanted the entire kit back when I went for a warranty claim. I had sold the charger but managed to get away without returning it.

    • What warranty claim were you making (what was broken)?

    • This is an issue as stores vary in wanting the entire kit back, to saying its a waste to take it all back and they only want to swap out the failed part.

I agree its a waste, and swapping just the failed tool would be best..

but if the requirement is to swap out the entire kit, then consistency between stores and maybe something clearly worded that you dont have to go digging for would be good.

      • I think it depends on if the tools are available separately. They wanted my complete Ryobi hedge trimmer kit back when one of my batteries failed as they didn't have the exact same one on the shelf. Eventually ended up swapping it for a slightly larger capacity (was something like 1.5ah in the kit and they only have 2ah separately) but wouldn't give me a receipt so that battery has no warranty now.

        • Well they took the drill and 2x 1.5ah batteries that had not been charged more than thee times. They replaed it with a new drill and a battery pack with a 4ah and 2ah battery + charger.

I was up the deal but it is a waste nontheless.

  • Shows out of stock in all stores within 35km and not available for delivery at my postcode 3060

  • Thanks OP, ordered one from Dural store

Why not posting every other item sold at Bunnings?

  • This usually comes up as an aldi price match. Bought the drill kit and the impact skin a while back when aldi were offering the combo. Couldn't find the impact as a skin anymore but they have been good. Probably use the impact more than the drill as it's smaller. Have 1.5 and 3ah batteries and work fine with either.

  • I have these plus other PXC tools. Both are great for DIYers. Just last night I mounted a 75" 8k on the wall.

    • Timber stud wall?
Drill won't do so well on a brick wall

  • I have the brushless drill driver and it's awesome. About 10% less RPM and Nm than a Metabo for about 10% of the price. The keyless chuck ratchets down on the drill bit like a metabo too…
