Noctua NH-U14S CPU Cooler $103.39 Delivered @ Noctua via Newegg

121

Looks like a solid deal. It's around $135 at Amazon delivered.
NH-D15 is $10 more but is much larger and may be incompatible with some cases.
Definitely better than the NH-U12's
Shipped directly from Noctua.

    Can it handle 5950x?

    • +4

Yes, but the better the cooler the higher the 5950x will boost. So if you want the best air cooler, get the Noctua NH-D15. Or if you're not in a hurry, the I am pretty sure the looooooong awaited Noctua NH-D16 is coming out sometime this year, but more likely towards the end of the year. It was planned for 2021 but got pushed back due to covid. It has been like 8 years since the D15, so really looking forward into seeing what Noctua will do with the next big iteration.

EDIT: Actually it's confirmed to be coming Q3 2022: https://noctua.at/en/product-roadmap

    • Depends what you mean by handle.

Intermittent resource use such as gaming allows air cooler to recover.

Constant resource such as compression or benchmarking means air cooler take up heat until capacity then thermal throttling occurs.

    • I have a D15S on my 5800X which handles it fine (in a small case, standard clocks). Note the height of the cooler and check whether it will fit your case.

  • Is that possible to put one more fan in the right?

    • +1

From what I've read on other coolers noctua doesn't generally recommend this as the performance increase is minimal but it creates more noise.

  • Why isn't there an up to date 140mm fan chromax black?

  • Can you provide the link for the nh-d15 for$113 del?

Likely to get a used one with newegg! If you value decent business practices and not dealing with a company that scams it’s customers, don’t use new egg. They make MSY look like gold.

More follow up videos to it but this is what they do.

That was specifically for an 'open box' item. Don't know if there is any reports of people buying new and getting used.

Since that video Newegg have changed their 'open box' returns policy to pretty much accept anything (or so they say).

I've only used Newegg once or twice myself (years ago).

If you think the bahaviour from neweggs return practices applies only to open box you are surely mistaken. In this case they blamed the customer for damage on an item after newegg themselves had sent in the item for repair from gigabyte. They knew they sent a broken porduct and still refused a refund and insisted that the customer they sent the broken product too, had caused the damage.

Pretty sure this is sold by and shipped directly from Noctua Cooling Solutions in Taiwan. I personally have purchased NH-U9S.chromax a couple of months ago (shipped by DHL) and it arrived BNIB - had no complains so far. The same seller has been referenced a couple of times on OzBargain and anecdoctal evidence suggests that they are reliable. Not to mention, Noctua products from them seem to be generally cheaper than any of the Australian retailers.

    • Er, this item is from the Noctua direct store, and ships directly from them in Taiwan.
It's not supplied or shipped by NewEgg.

And even it were shipped by NewEgg, you're certainly not "likely" to receive a used one - that's a scenario that applies to a tiny fraction of their orders 🤷🏼‍♂️

  • If paying Newegg with credit card use one with no foreign transaction fees for example 28 degrees master card.
Otherwise, will get charged currency conversion fee even though invoice says Australian dollars.
