Why does "gaming" double the price of anything?
I'd have expected the opposite: play toys to be cheaper than (deductible) work tools.

Last time I paid that much for a mouse was for a Sun workstation that cost more than a new car. </oldfart>

Cordless 60 gram mouse with great sensors, very accurate, nice build quality, decent battery, comfortable and slick movement. But yes in general I understand what you mean, slap gaming on X/Y and put RGB on it and double the price lmao.

In the context of computer peripherals, "gaming" for the big brands is more akin to being the "performance" models.
This mouse is pretty much their performance flagship carrying the current highest spec sensors for maximum pointer accuracy and consistency, an extremely low response time so there's pretty much no delay between the movement of you mouse and your cursor on the screen, a huge battery that will probably last you a week, it happens to also be extremely lightweight for a wireless mouse, and I'd say the switches on the left and right click would be rated to last to a certain level given that it's probably clicked a lot more frequently and probably a lot more heavily when used for games.

Someone who isn't hardcore into games probably doesn't care about these things thus it makes sense you wouldn't want to spend nearly $200 on a mouse that can do the same job as something for $20 with the biggest difference being it's efficiency.

may i ask why a comp bike is worth more than a kmart bike ?

      • That is exactly my point. A bike used by professionals costs more than one used by kids to play :-) The opposite of mice.

Ok, a more serious comparison might be a courier's bike vs a BMX?

If you're under the belief only kids play games then you've truly lost it.

          • @Dvbargain: Don't be silly. We grown-ups still love computer games. Of course a lot of it is done on our phones or ipads these days, in between kids dental appointments and boring meetings.

            • @bargaino: Haha I was just going off your comment. I doubt many kids are using $200 mice, but us grown adults who still like gaming might decide to invest a bit. It's a cheaper hobby than modifying a car haha.

Why does "gaming" double the price of anything?

      Does it really, though?

Logitech's 'work' mouse (MX Master) is $149 RRP.

Besides that, having 'gaming' in the product title doesn't mean you can't use it for work, or claim deductible tax on it.

      • RRP of the GPX is $279, so they're not exactly far off with their hyperbole.

    • I remember wheeling a $400k sun microsystems server up Collins Street in a wooden box. Amazing what technology costs only to be worthless 5 or 10 years later when it's hopefully done it's job.

Wow what a stupid price! Its not even a real mouse! G402 is all one needs.

    • +3

Ok i gotta ask, how is it "not even a real mouse"?

      • +6

got no tail, nose ears and legs

        • +2

What a world we live in when people dont know what a real mouse is huh

  • +2

I need to try one to see why these are this price, I prefer weightier mice with a few more buttons.

    • +1

Been using a G502 for nearly 4 years now, very happy with it.
Can add/remove weights at the bottom of the mouse (make it as light or heavy as you want) and it has quite a few macros all over the mouse. Check it out if you haven't already, you can probably snag one for less than $200 new or $100 used (I payed $35 for my second hand one)

      • I've got the G703 it is a really nice mouse but its developed this issue with the scrolling wheel where it acts erratically and I cant do anything to fix it… Seems to be a known problem but firmware is latest version and any other suggestion is no help to me… Im not sure if id go Logitech again because of this, not like it was an entry level mouse.

        • Haven't had any problems at all with mine. Have had a hit and miss history with Logitech G products, especially their keyboards. Always had key chatter with any Logitech G board I get. Their switches feel terrible anyway. Their mice though are pretty high quality in my experience.

    • I'd say all those words "weightless, super speed|response" are mostly a gimmick. I know as have one. It is indeed light and fast, but its shape is not for everyone. I prefer the shape of M280, which gives me better control, although it's not as light as PRO X Superlight.

  • I received my Superlight that I posted on here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/680098 man this mouse is life changing.

    • Yeah same, it’s so light that it’s almost feels like your hands are floating.

  • what is German version?

    • +1

Only box is German. There is bit of English on there. 0 issues with the mouse.

  • Bought one of these in a previous German special from Amazon.
I can recommend this mouse as the sports car Porshe type model of mice not the standard Holden Astra.

  • Picked up the German version for $170 a few months back. Great mouse, loooong battery life which was the main complaint with my last mouse. I'm confident the lightness of this thing has given a good 5 FPS increase, perhaps 10 FPS in more demanding titles. Just waiting for a decent deal on the G915 now.
