Good price on this Dewalt DCF887N Impact Driver. I have this unit myself and it has been fantastic despite some negative reports of overheating and wobbly chuck. I don't have either of these issues.

Three LED lights mean it doesn't cast shadow on the work area no matter which angle you hold the tool at.

3 speed selector is great for low torque applications to prevent stripping screw heads.

One annoying bit is that the battery doesn't fit snug and has an unusual amount of play when installed on the tool. You don't feel this at all while using the tool but annoying nonetheless.

Lowest local price is from Melbourne Tool Sales @ $169. Sydney Tools sell these for $259 while Total Tools sell these for $299.
Recently seen these at Bunnings marked down to $215.
I haven't looked into whether local warranty would apply.

Enjoy!

Regarding warranty, nup if purchasing outside from Australia or online trading.

    https://service.dewalt.com.au/DEWALT/AU/en-AU/Article/GetArt…

    1. The 3 Year Limited Warranty excludes:
2.10 Products purchased outside of, or parallel imported into, Australia, New Zealand or the South Pacific Islands.
2.11 Products purchased from an unauthorized DEWALT reseller, including on-line trading companies or individuals (e.g. Trading Post, eBay etc) that are not authorized DEWALT resellers in Australia, New Zealand or the South Pacific Islands.

    2. The 1 Year Service Contract excludes:
5.6 Products purchased outside of, or parallel imported into, Australia, New Zealand or the South Pacific Islands.
5.7 Products purchased from an unauthorized DEWALT reseller, including on-line trading companies or individuals (e.g. Trading Post, eBay etc) that are not authorized DEWALT resellers in Australia, New Zealand or the South Pacific Islands.

However you may want to check Amazon UK and Amazon AU regarding warranty policies.

  • Bunnings would be cheaper if using Price Beaten policy (10%) against MTS - $152.10.

No stress as it would include a 3 years local warranty.

    • Except bunnings now only price match if it's available for same day delivery or collection. May get lucky depending on who you talk to though.
I got denied a price match against Amazon because it's not same day delivery.

Mate, Do you know what is the difference between "Price Match" and Price beaten?

Price match = match the same price from Competitor
Price beaten = match the same price plus discount by percentage from Competitor.

Amazon is classified as Online trading thus Bunnings won't honour it.

        • +1

Ok dude let's get technical lol
My sincere apology for calling it a match. Well you stuffed up too because they call it price guarantee.
Either way, what does that have to do with the fact that Bunnings will not officially honour price guarantee against Melbourne Tool Shop unless you live in the area and can pick it up on the same day? You really love to cling onto something that's not even important lol

Please state where they say they don't honour price guarantee against online businesses. Wrong again. Their reasoning was it has to be same day delivery, not because it's an online business. Please do not preach if you don't have accurate info.
Plenty of people had price guarantee honoured against Amazon prices at bunnings.

@dji1111111: I second to you mate. I have bought 4 B-HYVE products from Bunnings and they priced matched it to Amazon. Saying that it solely depends on the person you talk to and how was his/her night the day before :)

@Fuzzy69: Yep, I've had mixed success.
Currently trying to get them to "Price beat" (happy now Dark Zeus? lol) Amazon's price on the multi-tool, but so far no luck.
In-store, they told me it has to be same delivery or click & collect.
Online, they first told me their price is the same (which it isn't. currently $369 vs $207.50) then when I went back to them with wtf are you talking about, they come back and say their system failed to update the price on 1 March and it should have been the same price lol They kindly attached a screenshot of their internal system. I don't see how that even matters. customers only see the website price, not their internal system price info lol

      • Everyone, Please note i meant Price Guarantee which is where Bunnings beats competitor's price by 10% since Dark Zeus is getting his panties in a knot over it lol

Having seen all that in the above comments, I've found my Dewalt tools (both local and imported) have been very reliable.

I can't comment on long-term experience but so far I've been super impressed with their circular saw and impact driver.

    • +1

Same. I got a Dewalt orbital sander from Amazon US about a year ago and it's been great.

  • Bunnings will price match and beat it by 10% only it is the same model, colour etc. Has to be identical and can not be commercial or a clearance item.
It does price match online sales and websites but excludes eBay and Amazon… but as mentioned by others u need to include shipping etc if it is from interstate.

  • Its only 6% off. Does not look like a deal.
    Was: $167.61
    Price: $156.44
    You Save:$11.17 (6%)

Looks like this is $150.10 (with coupon 'SAVE5') at Aus Tool Supply:

    https://www.austoolsupply.com.au/Dewalt-Impact-Driver-Brushl…

    • I emailed Bunnings recently, asking them to price beat austoolsupply. They wouldn't do it under the reason that these guys aren't an authorised DeWalt Australian dealer. Will try this price beat next time I'm in-store.

      • Bunnings price guarantee is a joke. They make up a new reason every time you try.
There is nothing in their terms & conditions that state it has to be an authorised dealer.

Our lowest prices policy means that if you find a competitor's lower price (including GST and delivery charges) on the same in-stock item that's available for same-day delivery or collection, we'll beat it by 10%. This excludes trade quotes, stock liquidations, commercial quantities and Marketplace products.

      • I just price matched this at my local Bunnings (in SA) today, got it for $142. It took a bit of convincing and 3 different staff members checked it out, so YMMV.

        • +1

Good work on the price beat! I've tried 2 local Bunnings with no luck. Initially knocked me back on the online store excuse. And when I found a physical store, I got knocked back on the 'same-day delivery or collection' excuse.

  • You have to be very careful with DeWalt model numbers - different markets will have unique labels, numbers and letters. I can't comment on other manufacturers but suspect the same applies.

E.g. Australian DeWalt tools will not have the 20V Max / XR label and the official model here is known as the DCF887N-XE.

I personally have bought from overseas and accept the warranty issue but don't be caught by cheap prices in Aus - they will be imports too with the same issue too.

Make sure that they really are Australian stock and that DeWalt will authorise the warranty rather than the importer or just accept whatever warranty the local importer offers.

  • I've had one of these for the past few years and can only highly recommend.

Never had any overheating or wobbly chuck, even when driving dozens of 150mm M10 coach screws through pine sleepers (5mm pre drilled).

    • Yeah they are pretty good. I dropped old engine oil on one of these by accident and after cleaning it up the best I could it still works lol.
