You have it all covered. As you were.
Maybe throw in a 'apes strong together'. hope that helps. Oh oh and make a crypto/mining reference. And how you are still rocking your 386 original GPU.

      • Something something…build it yourself

  • Dumb question, would the 3060 work with a i5-4690k? I know it will be gimped but it would still be okay right?

    • It will work assuming your system’s power supply can meet power requirements and your case can fit it

    • It will work, but your CPU is likely to bottleneck the GPU in modern titles.

3060 is similar to 1080 so no it won't be gimped at all if you OC it.

    • Your average FPS will be decent at 1440P, but there will be micro stuttering which you will not enjoy. I would say NO! If its 1080P, dont even think about it. Speaking from experience.

      • Curious why would there be micro stuttering?

        • Because 4 cores are not enough even if OCed. My 3570K OCed to 4.4GHz could not feed the GTX1080 at 1440P without microstuttering. Especially when playing metro exodus, 0.1 and 1% min frame rate frequently used to fall down to 1 to 5FPS. As frequent as every 3 to 5 seconds. Upgraded to 3700X and everything was so smooth, never fell below 40.

          • @John Doh: oh wow okay. Well hopefully it will be okay for now till I upgrade the rest of it later on.

            • @ChickenDinner123: Or upgrade the card when 4000 series is out, it will be twice as faster for same money. But then you would be missing gaming experience for that long (year end). Your decision.

    How’s it a deal if BPC tech a 3060 for $679?

    • BPC have it for $1199: https://www.bpctech.com.au/product/gv-n3060aorus-e-12gd-v2-g…

I have no idea where you are getting that price from

Not the same model but there is a 3060 for $679

        • +2

Pretty sure the Aorus variant is a more premium one. I can't say if it will be better or not, but it is definitely almost always going to be more expensive than the "BattleAxe" variant from BPC as that is a more lower end one.

          • @GallBall2606: Agreed, though I’m not sure it’s $120 better

          • @GallBall2606: Haha, just that nice RGB fan ring when its spinning well worth that!

            • @kaikor: I actually love the look of it, and personally wouldn't mind spending an extra $120 to get the Aorus version over the Battle Axe.

It looks great and I find aesthetics are quite important for me when purchasing hardware.

Totally agree with you. 3060 Ti have fallen to 950ish. No point spending 799 for a 3060. 12GB for this GPU is not necessary for most scenarios.

    Still shows $9.90 shipping cost

Aorus cooling design is an overkill for 3060, it just take too much space in the case. My 2 fan 2.2 slot 3060, after undervolting, only use 145W running Heaven benchmark @ 72C.
FYI Gigabyte got caught with subpar thermal pad with their 3080 and 3090, that affects mem temp….

    • Completely agree, it's insanity to buy an "ultra premium" 3060. That card can run on a single fan pretty easily, don't waste your money.

Premium cards only make sense if you're going at least a 3070 or higher.

  • $1499 for a 6800 xt isn't too bad right now!
