[Unobtainable] Free - Extra Virgin Olive Oil Sample Sachet @ The Tasmanian Olive Shop

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Just saw this on Facebook. Ordered and received confirmation email.

Sample sachet of our Extra Virgin Olive Oil for you to taste at home. If you'd like to receive this item for free (plus free shipping), simply join our mailing list and use the discount code provided.

Note: Samples are limited to one per customer.

Update: All orders cancelled

Thanks for your interest in our olive oil, and for placing an order for a free sample. Unfortunately, since this offer was listed on ozbargain last night I have received many hundreds of orders which are simply impossible for me to fulfil as a (very) small business, largely because all the sample sachets are filled and sealed by me, by hand. My intention with this offer was to provide an opportunity for potential customers to taste our oil before buying, as they would at a farmers’ market. If you’re genuinely considering making a purchase, I’d still be delighted to send you a sample, and would be grateful if you could place a new order using the code FREEVOO2. I’m disappointed to have had to add a small charge of $2 for this but it seems the best way to continue with the offer. In the meantime your current order will be voided and your personal details removed from my order database. Kind regards, Fiona

I can see this being Ozbargained.
While I use olive oil for everything I won't be doing it. Hopefully you all get yours

think will give it a miss …. i buy by the litre in supermarket and this seems a large carbon footprint for something people probably won’t order by the bottle and wouldn’t take if they had to pay for postage ….

      • -7

        large carbon footprint

Probably smaller than the footprint being created by the war in Europe

        • -1

Nothing compared to the footprint created by the US and the Coalition forces. Maybe look in the mirror before you start pointing fingers.

        • +8

we don’t have control about other peoples actions in europe, but we do have control over the waste and carbon footprint we create as individuals waste,

          • @garage sale: Literally pointless.

Probably worse than doing nothing at all due to the feelings of self-satisfaction it generates making you think you "did something".

            • @Diji1: You should probably just end it all now with that attitude.
I don't see how you can even get out of bed each morning as it is equally pointless.

I don't agree with the neg but I do agree with not ordering a free sample as I have no realistic chance of buying their product. I buy the 3 litre Cobram when on sale and that lasts me ages. I just don't agree of abusing a goodwill gesture of a company trying to be competitive against the larger ones. As for the carbon footprint, it seems very small, but I suppose it all adds up.

    A sachet? meh

    • It could be a big size uno! n it's 3!

375mL extra virgin for $30. This stuff is pretty expensive

    • But who wants that everyone wants to have the Free sample instead

  • +3

Very handy if you want to toss a salad

    • +1

you won’t toss much of a salad with a sachet …..

  • +2

That Cobram deal made me somewhat of an EVOO connoisseur. Let's see if this is any good.

CBF giving my details for a sample of oil. Maybe in the old days but using ozbargain has helped me almost move to middle class. Maybe for avocado, but not oil anymore.

    • +3

yeah …. i think i’ve moved on from getting excited by a few ml of free alive oil …. guess for some people it’s something to look forward to when postman arrives ….

if you’ve never tried heinz’s ketchup you can get free sample at mc donald’s …. to go with the olive oil ……

  • Seems like you can't add the code via mobile browser. Works on PC.

I just clicked on this post to see who would neg a freebie. Not a great comment I know, but probably not a great neg either.

    • +2

i think ozbargain has been around long enough that people also consider the quality / usefulness of a deal now, for example a deal on cheap grange might not be useful to many hence the “ordered 10” comments but it is a quality wine at possibly good price but not very useful to most readers….. with this olive oil sample it might be a good price “free” but not very useful at 10ml ……

  • There is no picture of the actual satchel, and they don't say how big it is. They will probably send 10ml satchel like this one https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51Q2uIlfRzL...

    • +1

      10ml satchel

      Wow !!!

      2 teaspoons !!!

      • yeah 2 teaspoons but it does offer the opportunity to try and squeeze out every drop ….

might be left over samples from foodservice 2022 that was in melbourne last week there were quite a few producers at the tassie stand ….lots of samples from suppliers ….. bega gave me 2 kg bag of shredded cheese to try …smallest sample they had …

      • Then that satchel will burst in the paper envelope they will inevitably send it in

  • Ordered let see.

    Sachet must be small.

  • Honestly not going to bother for a few mls of oil but appreciate the dedication to the Ozbargain cause

    • +3

yeah …. think my time, self respect and dignity is worth more than a few ml of olive oil ….

i’m trying to visualise the excitement in the household when it arrives and the decision needs to be made who gets to taste it and who misses out, draw straws ?

could cause problems if your spouse finds the empty sample sachet in the bin and asks why you didn’t share it with them ….and what else you’ve been hiding from them ……

      • Ended up getting cancelled anyway because too many people were too desperate in their pursuit for a few mls of olive oil they would've sent this small business broke…

        Yep 1500+ orders, very sad..

  • Ordered one Thanks

  • If you are of middle eastern descent, then you know that this will cure any disease

    • +1

with a small satchel you’d hope that you aren’t too sick , and that other family members aren’t sick either or it might be a fight on who gets the satchel so that they well …..

i’m a one person household but i don’t think this sample is big enough for a salad, or even dip a piece of bread into ……… sometimes these small samples are more like a business card so that people remember the brand, they hand them out at supermarkets or trade shows where they have larger tastings but the sample is so that you remember the name ….. i have some bottles of tabasco about the size of coles minis that tabasco had in a large jar for people to take ….. not enough to get a taste but so that people remember tabasco rather than just the brochures ….

Good luck with your business charging 2$ delivery for a 10ml olive sample! I guess they can count their orders with 2 hands now…

  • No orders are being completed to to it being posted on here, email received this am from the owner

  • Received the same email. No free olive oil then.

  • Just got email, stating the (very) small business is not going to be able to honor the free samples after finding out power of Ozbargain FREEBIE.

I guess you can only only buy 375 mL for $30 from them

  • Received cancellation email.
