some nice layovers in Singapore …… not

  • +4

Thanks for sharing. Great deal to Europe on a decent airline!

    • No problems, happy to help!

  • Need to fly into Spain around May 5th, and out of Milan on the 16th. Been looking at flights the past week or so, looks like this sale just misses my dates unfortunately.

  • How about the reverse? Return from Europe to Australia?

  • Man it's so cheap to go to Europe at the moment!

    • Should get cheaper as airlines start putting more flights back on. Might take a while though

      • would it be worth waiting for more flights for a trip to europe in late july or to just book now? looking to book syd to london but happy to transit in from another destination in europe if cheaper

        • +1

I would book now. July is peak season and prices I doubt will come down (perhaps if you depart late July after school holidays, prices may drop).
London is the most expensive city in Europe to fly into, if you are ok to transit then look at Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Milan, Zurich, Istanbul, Barcelona as alternatives.

Heads up Singapore have been cancelling flights left right and centre. Parents had their flights cancelled the day before they were due to fly from Dublin to Sydney.

Stuffed them around from the end of Nov to Dec 25th cancelled them on Xmas day.

They have been (profanity) with regards to refunds so just filed a charge back with the credit card company as Singapore were not playing ball.

Never again on our end. Would rather pay a bit more for Emirates who we have been lucky with. Just a heads up on our ordeal.

    • Cancelling why? Are there new Covid restrictions somewhere?

      • -7

Honestly don't know why I assume it's to do with Covid and the Chinese government.

So got an email at the end of Nov around the 27/28 saying flights had been changed from Dublin Amsterdam to Dublin London.

Then on Dec 12th I think email saying flights cancelled with follow up email 30 mins later saying sorry that was a mistake.

Dec 20th they changed the PCR requirements to 48 hours from 72 - not a big deal except its holidays for most of Europe.

        Dec 25th cancelled flights.

Still no responses to numerous emails and calls. So issued charge back through the Visa let them fight with them.

Booked Emirates the same day the flight was cancelled. About 30% more expensive but no bullshit and no lies.

Singapore have been cancelling flights solidly for the last 3-4 months. Discovered this after posting in a group that had been supportive in getting travel exemptions and documentation for parents to visit Australia.

They knew Dec 12th that they were cancelling the flight. No matter what way you look at it it's shady business practices. Same shit that Qantas is doing.

Singapore is not part of China. So what does it have to do with the Chinese government.

Flights can be cancelled for many reasons, did you ask Singapore Airlines why it was cancelled. I've been flying Singapore Airlines for many years now and found their service to be excellent, if anything went wrong they would inform you of details and be very accommodating.

        • +13

This is one of the more insane things i've ever read.

Firstly - The Chinese Government has nothing to do with Singapore.

Secondly - PCR Requirements are mostly issued by the countries that you would be travelling through, not the airlines. I travelled on Singapore Airlines in early December and if it wasn't for Australia having PCR requirements I could have gotten a rapid test as per SA's requirements.

Thirdly - Cancelled flights, unfortunately that was normal across the board for airlines in December with changing restrictions in Australia/Worldwide with the omicron peak. Definitely wasn't just a singapore airliens thing.

Flights changing from Dublin to Amsterdam and then from Dublin to London wouldn't be Singapore Airlines fault it would be their partner airline within those territories. Hardly their fault.

        • Wrong country lol

          Racism sucks

        • Singapore have been cancelling flights solidly for the last 3-4 months.

Might be something to do with covid. Maybe they could put on flights for people like you who don’t care whether they are exposed to infected airline staff.

  • I know it's peak season but could you have a look at return flights to Stockholm or Copenhagen at the end of July/beginning of August?

  • Anything in April or just wishful thinking?

  • Any cheap tickets to Oslo? @flightfinderau

  • Hey is there any flight from sydney to Milan in june first week?

  • Awesome! With HK still in lockdown I am surprised. Also some flight paths have to be altered for safety, extra fuel needed!

  • Hey findflightau, anything that fits around 12 - 15 days melb - Barcelona? Dates are a little long. Don't mind which month 😊

  • +1

Ah the life of a teacher. All the holiday time in the world, never flights matching up with them to use them -_-

    • I share the same thoughts as parent! School holidays is always the most expensive time to travel!

  • wish we will be able to book SIN flight from VA's website soon! not just the point redemption

    • +1

Apparently its coming soon. Can't be too far away given you can book reward seats shortly

      • maybe after 27/03/2022 season :)

  • Not bad. My mum is hoping to come visit me (SYD from MXP) in August, hopefully she can find good deals once she's ready to book!

    • August should be fine. Let us know if I can help!

  • They had some decent flights back from Athens until I realise that leg was with scoot - for the tip!

  • Add a 1 day stop over in SIN each way for an extra 350 bucks…crazy

edit: 2 day stop over seems to work, only an extra 100 bucks or so and all Singapore air.:)

    • Also seems to be cheaper on the way here then on the way back.

  • hey, was hoping to go to helsinki death fest on august 22, then copenhagen has a metal festival sept 1-4. so hoping to arrive ~around aug 20 and leave sept 6-9, ex BNE

do you think it's cheapest to just book CPH return and make my way internally? would love your opinion!

    cheers!

    • +1

Yes flughts within europe are so cheap

  • +1

Return to Copenhagen will be cheaper and there are more airlines flying there as well than Helsinki. Singapore Airlines has some good deals to Copenhagen in August.

  • Is this still the best airline/deal if wanting to do Mel to Milan in premium or business? 19 June to 23 July flexible? Thanks

  • Hi looking to book Adelaide to Milan. Dep 15-20 April. Ret - 20-22 May. Any deals going? Cheers

  • +1

There's always cheaper flights outside of aussie school holidays. Not one of those dates in qld school holidays. Doesn't help when hub is a teacher too.

If there was a travel company dedicated to affordable travel for school holidays, they would be very successful! Or an airline that catered to this huge market.

Private school tend to break 1-2 weeks earlier than public schools which often results in thousands of savings and not aa crowded.

    • The price of tickets are determined by supply and damand. More people generally want to travel during the school holidays, so airlines adjust their prices accordingly. End of the day an airline is run for maximising profitability.

  • Looking for flights to Europe from Melbourne leaving 22/23 June returning 29 July. Any thoughts on which countries would be cheapest?

  • Hey is there any deals for December to January (roughly 30 days trip) from Adelaide to Glasgow? (Im fairly easy on times when we can leave eg from between 10 dec to 22 dec

  • Is there any easier way to select return flights but from differring cities?

Departing Brisbane any time from 3rd May to 10th May, don't really care which European city as I'm going to travel around.
Return from any European city in July 14th - 17th.

Thanks for any help in advance.

  • Not sure why it isn't working, your links don't come up with Singapore Airlines at those prices but rather combination of low-cost airlines (mostly Scoot, via Singapore)…
