  • Unfortunately gave my local one a try a few times and was always substandard. Surprise surprise, the latest review there says the same thing:

Store was empty yet food took ages to come out. When food arrived it was cold. The chips were soggy. Burgers had a strange taste to them like they had been frozen. Not great value for money. No kids menu. Definitely won't be back in a hurry at all.

It's a shame because i understand other locations are much better. I'm a huge fan of most American fast food burger joints too

    • Which one is your local?

  • +6

    Could it be?

    A Carl's Jr post that isn't by @msjb ?!!

    • Maybe msjb isn't a student so unaware of this deal XD

  • I also went past Five Guys the other day and got very excited to see it - but the reviews said it was completely overpriced and terrible. It seems like they'll bring an excellent American brand over here, do the usual Australian high prices and stingy ingredients and then expect people to be super stoked to be eating 'American' food.

When Del Taco gave me 'macho' upsize the chips came in a 2L drink cup with a hole punched in the bottom. Best damn two litres of chips I ever had. They just won't do crazy stuff like that in Australia without charging $35 for it.

    • Five Guys in the US is decent but I found it overly oily, still good overall. Never had it here.

Taco Bell > Del Taco in the US, but what we really need is a Chipotle or Cafe Rio.

      • Yeah I would say Taco Bell is better than Del Taco in the US but I like how brutal Del Taco is. It's a bit less shiny - not that Taco Bell is all that shiny ;-)

I dunno about Chipotle. I feel like that role is fairly well covered here by Guzman. The issue with Taco Bell here is that it's neither cheap or good. Taco Bell over there you can get a pretty ridiculous thing to eat for about ten bucks. Here ten bucks gets you nothing, and twenty bucks gets you something that should be cheap as shit.

When they had $1 tacos back around 2003 it was great. Proper tacos with sour cream and all that - and the 'fries supreme' was amazing. Now it's just expensive trash.
