    Prices be wild

    • +2

they're pretty generous in terms of referral tho.
3x $15 discount on first three orders and Dashpass for free delivery (on most but not all restaurants).

Still end up ahead vs ordering directly through the restaurant. Cancel dashpass after the third order within the first month - sorted.

      • I might had wrong steps to get the referral discount, but it's keeping telling me to change a different payment method when I try to place order every time.
I've tried with both PayPal and card but can't get through.
Do you or anyone else have any idea? Many thanks!

    • Cheaper than uber eats imo, once you get dash membership there is an offers section and free delivery and reduced rates etc. Good if you live near the city or around heaps of food options. I get my mum some good chicken noodles sometimes delivered for $14.50 with offers, I live next to Melbourne cbd though. Vast options

Can we combine with account credit ?

  • Thanks for saving my quarantine.

    • why u still quantined

      • got covid a day before going overseas. had to quarantine lol

Are you (profanity) serious? Buying takeaway / delivery food via Layby / finance / installments?

We are all going to hell.

    • +14

The worst I've seen if Afterpay for haircuts. There's people out there going into debt for haircuts costing hundreds of dollars. Idiots.

      • +6

if those hair extensions and salon visits leads to wealth, its a high yield investment

        • if those hair extensions and salon visits leads to wealth, its a high yield investment

And what job has that as a prerequisite? Hair extension sales person?

          • +3

            @PainToad: Professional Golddigger of course.

          • @PainToad: for people working in sales, high end fashion goods etc, or selling cosmetics and handbags in Myer ; presentation would be a key factor

      • +2

I guess you are single. Last time my wife went to the saloon ..cost me 350 bucks. :-(

        • +2

you pay for your wifes hair cut?

        • +12

Not single. Just thankfully in a relationship with someone who is financially responsible.

      • +1

i pay mine on time with my afterpay purchases. whats the issue?

    • +11

      roflmao, nice take
some people are just taking up the offer because of the free dashpass, not because they can't afford the full price upfront.
likewise with any other afterpay deals

      • +3

All good to those availing an offer. But clearly afterpay didn’t partner up with DD to generously give out offers without intending to capitalise on it. So there will be swathes of people who are expected to go into ap debt on take away food or else ap wouldn’t bother.

          • @payton:

Afterpay will hit the brakes as soon as user misses a payment

            Let me correct that,

Afterpay will slap you with a min 25% late fee as soon as user misses a payment. If your food order was $10 it’s a 100% late fee…wtf

That’s high risk fast food lol

            • @cloudy: As late fees go that's quite mild and just one off, too. You get plenty of notice in advance before a repayment is due.
As with most forms of finance (and even driving a car), being responsible is a must.

Brisbane council library used to have late fees on overdue returns and I borrowed a bunch of magazines, that was more than $10!

              • @payton:

As with most forms of finance

Not sure why this discussion is difficult for you to fathom. But this is the crux of it, you should not be in a position to finance fast food!!! It just seems outrageous, if you have financial struggles with paying for food don’t go into debt for it!

                • @cloudy:

I find it disgusting a company even exists that targets these type of customers.

But not as disgusting as I find people on here who support these types of companies just to save a few bucks with this deals.

                  • @PainToad: Completely agree. To be honest, it’s getting worse. I’ve been hearing recently of companies providing finance to gain your pay a few days in advance. Paynow, wagepay, a few others.
                    It’s disgusting.

To be fair, this sort of business has been around for yonks now, pay day lenders. But the evolution (into a app to target the kids) makes me vomit. At least back in the day a pay day lender had tonnes of scrutiny and negative connotations to it, now days it appears “cool”.

                  • @PainToad: Both of you are judging something you know very little about.
It is a) none of your business how people facilitate their purchases, albeit food, wine, entertainment: w/e.
                    b) People use CC all the time to pay for this sort of stuff which if not paid within a specific period, charge an according fee, what AP stipulates is 4 payments over 4 fortnightly periods. If you cannot achieve this simple goal then you have no financial stability what so ever and wont be able to set goals in the near future.
For both of you to paint AP like it is an financial evil, if anything, it teaches people to budget better.
I have been using AP for over 4 years now and never missed 1 payment, the ability to buy within one's means and buy w/e I want is no one's business but mine.
Further more, anyone citing how evil AP is yet supports banking institutions needs to get a better grip on reality imo.

                    • +1

@[Deactivated]: Exactly, I've used my credit card to make purchases on Doordash, and I don't see any real difference between me using a CC and someone else using AP. To each their own. Both can be interest and fee free if you're financially responsible. I've actually used AP on some of the other deals on OZB, and was surprised to learn that you can pay your afterpay installments with a credit card. Suits me fine, the longer I can keep cash in my offset account the better.

                    • @[Deactivated]:

It is a) none of your business how people facilitate their purchases, albeit food, wine, entertainment: w/e.

Becomes my business when there's going to be an entire generation that never learns to save or manage their finances goes on to expect handouts from tax payers because when they retire all they'll have is fancy hair cuts, fast food, every latest console and phone.

People use CC all the time to pay for this sort of stuff which if not paid within a specific period

Getting a credit card requires checks a person can make repayments. But I also despise credit cards. If you can't afford it now, you shouldn't buy it now.

                      • @PainToad:

No it is none of your business, it literally is none, you don't offer anything for sale via AP so it is none of your business nor does anything they purchase concern you either.
The fact you think there is an entire generation with fancy haircuts, fast food, every latest console and phone makes me think this is a problem of where you live but not a reality for everyone else?

If you've seen Clive Palmer's latest ad of how Australia is in debt, it seems you must hate your own country too due to not being able to curtail its own expenditure?

Getting a credit card requires checks a person can make repayments. But I also despise credit cards. If you can't afford it now, you shouldn't buy it now.

People don't just use CC for buying what they cannot pay for now, they use it for a cashless convenience which many CC institutions offer incentives to use said services.
Flyby points, cash back rewards w/e, being this is Ozbargains, one would or should know the positives of having such incentives at hand, also how does one build a credit history to buy perhaps a house or car if one has never used a credit service in the 1st place?

Your view is skewed on what these service providers offer, your negative attitude is one that you alone push into a sense of doom and gloom, imagine a society full of fancy haircuts, latest phones, fast foods and latest consoles, oh wait I think you pretty much described the 80's minus the phones.

                • @cloudy: Relax. How do you know what are the percentages of people who used this offer are financially vulnerable or not.

I just don't see them the same way you are, I don't think they're predatory in a significant manner and I don't believe people are using this 'just so they can eat'. But who knows, maybe you're well versed in this topic and I'm not disputing your viewpoint.

            • @cloudy: Not how AP works, nor how the offer works. Spreading misinformation doesn't help either, AP can be used for many many different vendors, I hardly think anyone would suddenly just sign up to AP just to "eat"

              • @[Deactivated]: Where is the misinformation, I’ll correct it.

                • @cloudy:

Afterpay will slap you with a min 25% late fee as soon as user misses a payment. If your food order was $10 it’s a 100% late fee…wtf

AP doesn't slap a minimum of anything, it is always a nominal fee. The fees are always the same and not a percentage of anything.

                  • @[Deactivated]: It was in reply with the previous poster comment, on food orders of under $40, converting dollars to percentile is not misinformation, and using percentile helps puts into context the outrageous mark up AP on debt.

                    • @cloudy: This IS misinformation as you have some how managed to take a worst case scenario which no one in their right mind would ever be able to say they made a purchase of $10 and then got a $10 late fee.
Your hyperbole is just that, a wild claim of fancy just so you can claim victory to a false narrative. Lets break this down for the audience.

A $10 purchase would involve maybe a $4.99 delivery fee ($20 min for free delivery via DashPass) then a service fee of 10%. This would leave $4.50 for a purchase which would equate to possibly a Mars Bar.
You somehow think someone would spend $10 on a MarsBar who would not be able to afford a payment of $2.50 per fortnight repayment netting them an additional $10 late fee?
Yes misinformation is one thing, hyperbole nonsense on another level is something consider too.

    • Afterpay are offering very generous subsidies for selling agents…. Almost 120% back on the purchase price (20% extra per sale)

    • +1

apparently there are unlimited donuts down there, Homer has shown us

    • afterpay is a credit card in all but regulation .

used credit cards for takeaway for years

  • +8

Dashpass = no delivery fees but insanely inflated prices and then service charges on top of that which replaces the delivery fees.

    • You will get 50% off of the service fee i.e. 5%
      However, still expensive

      • where does it state this?
I placed an order with a restaurant but the service fee is still 10%.

        • Not sure if they have updated now :( But at that time it's 5%

  • -5

    Afterpay @ DoorDash

Two companies I will never support. 💩💩

    • +5

Two companies I will gladly take advantage of.

  • -4

    Afterpay @ DoorDash

Two companies I will support. 🤡🤡

  • +3

Getting: "An error occured while contacting Afterpay. Please try again." when trying to set it up via Doordash. Great deal though, 3 months free dashpass for doing nada.

Been using dash for my coles groceries, very convenient and occasionally codes (e.g. 30% off) and stacks with discounted gift cards too (10-20% off).

    • imo they should be required to full price quote. They clearly make margin beyond the delivery and service fees so either include that as well or remove the misleading charges. Good analysis btw

    • So innovation and competition bought in much higher prices for food delivery albeit that many more places are now available to order from.

    • +2

Deliveroo is adding service fees to their sub this month. Doordash also regularly has 8% off gift cards via Shopback which can be stacked with other promos.

      • Just checked, you're right

Do I have to pay service fees?
Yes, you will need to pay service fees for all orders placed with Plus.

Was good while it lasted, just cancelled my Deliveroo Plus account, none of the subs are worth it anymore - thanks for the heads-up!

EDIT: Unpublished my original comment for out-of-date information to avoid misleading anyone

  • Pretty sure deliveroo has service fees now? 5% ish ?

    • +1

      Yep that's right.

I can see it already here at checkout:

This fee is 5% of your basket before promotions or discounts are applied. It has a minimum of $0.99 and is capped at $3.99.

    • Is it just me or did they increase the service fee to 10% for doordash members now.

  • +1

Still not worth getting the wrong order which they did three times in a row.

    • +1

perhaps your Lib/Lab sermons didn't go too well with the drivers and customer service staff

      • Yes that must be the reason.

  • So how does this actually work? You just setup Afterpay and checkout and pay for 1 order, then you get the 3 months free Dashpass?

Or you have to check out with Afterpay for every order during those 3 months?

    • +2

Just set up Afterpay and tried ordering. If you try paying with a credit card instead of Afterpay, it'll say "This card isn't eligible for DashPass benefits. Use Afterpay to get benefits".. Cart total didn't change after I selected credit card (i.e. delivery was still free), but I paid with Afterpay just in case.

    • +1

That being said, just updated my app and it seems to have no issue with me paying with a credit card now…

  • +1

Are the delivery drivers at least getting paid a decent wage, considering the three layers of fees every service levies now? (delivery + service + restaurant surcharges)

    • Probably not because afterpay now needs to start turning a profit after all the losses they copped from the previous years

    • No 2nd pickup can be low ball offer - 2.98 AUD.

  • +3

gave up on DoorDash. on top of the inflated prices, and crap app, the promotions rarely work. They'll email a 50% off code to 'get you back' and that doesn't even work and then got to chase support team… just cbf.

    • +1

Yeah Uber Eats is much better most of the time. DD's restaurant discounts are lousy too - "$6 off any order of $40 or more". Uber Eats has a few restaurants offering BOGOF at any given time.

      • +1

        BOGOF what though..
        3x mini spring rolls?
        Can of soda?
        Mass produced sealed desert?

        Non worth it

        • Eh, not in Melbourne CBD. I always find great meals.

  • Does this deal also include the driver tax eating my food before they actually deliver it?

  • +2

    BNPL for food delivery? oof

  • I added through app and site and afterpay doesnt appear in payment

  • This deal Doesn't work it errors out

  • The price dropped? And I paid $124 for a year. Well according to Door Dash, I already save $65 in fees in a month…

    • I am on a monthly $12.99 plan, seems like they will drop the subscription price?

  • Did anyone encounter the error 'Please use a different payment method to checkout' with credit card payment? It started doing that since last week.

  • Can you cancel immediately after activating and still have it for the three months ?

  • So I spoke with customer service and people are meant to be getting free delivery + 5% service fees with dashpass.
Yet for some reason, I'm getting free delivery + 10% service fees with dashpass?

    • Did you try a different store?

I noticed at Coles the service fee is 10%, but at a local restaurant the service fee is 2% (with Dashpass).

      • +1

I have tried six different stores and they all show up as 10% service fee.
Before joining this promotion, I was on the normal dashpass and was getting 5%.
Customer service seems to be as clueless as I am.

        • Just an update, it turns out there is a "glitch" that users are not getting their service fee reduced.
Made an order to "prove" it and customer service were quick to reimburse me in case if anyone is experiencing the same problem.

          • @ozbargoUser: where does it state this 5%?
I placed an order with a restaurant but the service fee is still 10%.

  • After I clicked "Place Order" button, A pop up with "Try DashPass free for 3 months" and "cancel" buttons. I clicked the 1st one. But nothing happened. The order was not placed. I selected Afterpay. Did anyone face this error?

  • Just says "An error occured while contacting Afterpay. Please try again." when I try. Boring!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm guessing if I sign up for this on an account which hasn't used up the dashpass free trial, I won't be eligible for a month's free trial after these 3 months?

  • +1

I don't have Afterpay yet, any promo deals for me to register with them before I pull the trigger on this deal?

    • Check the afterpay page for referral bonuses. I always do this when setting up any new account.

  • Thanks OP,

Eating my 20 Chicken nugget meal now, got a free Big mac for tomorrow.

All this delivered to me at under $24. Can't beat that.

  • Tried to search for the info but couldn’t find it. If we already have Dashpass, can we cancel and take advantage of this Afterpay deal still?

    • +1

Yes but you don't need to cancel as the afterpay deal will start immediately after you join

      • Thanks, it's good to know!

  • -1

Good deal but rules out using discounted gift cards for payment, unless it accepted partial payment via Afterpay(doubt it).

    • +2

You can pay with gift card. First activate this offer. Then use ur gift card.

      • Thanks for clarifying

  • Sweet logged into my account $30 referral credit. Winning

  • +1

How do you get this to work? I've added my afterpay, i'm on the dashpass page - but I just see "add card" and "change". No confirm or proceed button?

It says by tapping the button you agree to blah blah. But theres no button.

Is it not applicable if you've had dashpass before?

Edit - worked on desktop and going to the dashpass landing page. Its bugged on mobile.

    • Honestly most frustrating thing, couldn't get it to work. This guy gets it, mobile is bugged!
