Maybe… But best to get POCO F3 for $416…

    • +7

      This has a better camera

      • +3

I do not think there is night and day difference. Megapixels are not always relevant.

        • +11

I've seen the reviews. This is better to my eye

        • +5

After using both phones, I can say that the advertised specs are not reliable. I experienced lags on the Poco F3 but never had issue with the Note 10 Pro. Battery on my Note 10 Pro also last longer.
The Note 10 Pro has significantly better camera. Especially in low light environment.

          • @Scythic: Bigger battery, yes, but the Note 10 Pro performs better than the F3? I find that hard to believe given the superior chipset in the F3. Both have similar performing mid-range cameras, good for the price, but neither are standouts in low light.

They are very similar phones, big difference is the F3 has 5G, while the Note 10 Pro has a SD card slot and headphone jack.

    • agree. F3 is much better than this one.

There's also a Redmi Note 11 and 11 Pro available now, too.

I got the redmi note 11 pro 5g, 8 - 128gb for $523 from xiaomi store aliexpress. Should be delivered in a few days.
Got the Atlantic blue one so I hope I don't regret the colour.

    • +19

Prepare some yellow stick tape, place it on your blue phone and be proud.

      • +2

        Slava!

      • I'm assuming that's a flag?

        • +5

Yes… Swedish of course. No doubt celebrating the invasion of Sweden by affordable Chinese smartphones.

          Heroiam slava!

        • where on earth do you live? I too would like to be as care free as you

        • Some people can only talk about politics. Flag obsession. There was a country once which thought that patriotism is defined by the size of the flag. If someone from that country was to leave it he will miss the endless flag talks in immigration and become home(flag)sick.

For the price, this is a great deal if you take into account 2yr warranty from Amazon. Camera on this is much better than F3. If you're gaming, then F3 for everything else Note 10 is a better phone. I really like that dedicated SD Card slot (on Poco X3 it's shared with 2nd SIM card). F3 doesn't have SD.

  • How is this compared to the RN11P?

FOR GET IT the miui 13 update 10 days ago stuffed my Xiaomi Redmi note 10 pro 8 months old phone i have seen hundreds of people saying the same thing on sites and the xiaomi site they dont reply to emails or any requests ,untill the update i was very happy but this seems to be the history of miui always massive problems and they never fix it .the update was from miui 12.5.6 to 13 and android 11 to 12.

    • +5

      Oh thanks for informing us.

For (profanity) sake, xiaomi always do this shit.

      • This is what happened with my RedMi note 4.

They also randomly decided during an update to start showing built-in ads.

No wonder so many people rush to flash them.

    • +6

After years of using Xiaomi phones, my most recent update completely ruined my phone to a point where I might not get them again.

    • +2

Yes I had this experience as well. Couldn't split screen properly anymore. The compromise is to enable the navigation buttons.

    • +1

Ok so same phone and on MUI 12.5.7 dont update?

      • Dont update friend .Dont do it

        • +2

How will I know when it's safe to do so? Recommend any sites or forums covering the issue?

    • +1

I reset after miui13 and have to say it's working much better now.

      • Full Factory Reset?

        • +1

Yeah, when I updated to miui 13 everything was laggy as, but a factory reset seems to have fixed the lag

  • +4

I have Note 10 pro since one year. The phone is good for performance but the camera is not good. Redmi never had good camera . Oppo or vivo is good for camera. The 108mp camera is just a spec thing, it doesn't take any good pictures. If you like selfies then keep away from this phone

No use to buy this old model with 4g while 11 pro already released with 5g.

    • +2

Agree. I've had mine for 4 months and I find the camera only OK. Big delay (~0.5 sec) between pressing the button and the phone taking the shot. I found my Galaxy S7 far superior in the camera department.

Only other minor gripe is that the latest update has resulted in the phone getting laggy from time to time with very few apps open.

Having said that, I paid $321 for it and it is an absolute bargain (when flagships are between $1000-2000) and I've been very happy overall.

      • How did you get it for 321?

        • +1

I should've noted it was for the 6GB/64GB on a group buy. An option Banggood offer from time to time.

    • Do you use the camera in 108MP mode, know it's a dumb question but I noticed it doesn't default to it so I didn't realise I wasn't using it when I first got the phone. I notice a significant difference myself

      • -1

Most higher camera pixel Android phones don't use the full megapixel mode on their cameras by default. They pixel bin, so the RN10P does a 9:1 ratio that results in 12MP photos by default from the 108MP camera; the Galaxy A52S does a 4:1 that results in 16MP photos by default from the 64MP camera and so on.

        • Oh okay, thanks. It makes sense. I definitely think other phone brands must do a better job of this as I find it relatively noisy on my note 10, even more so than 108MP unless I'm just making that up.

    • +1

Have you tried gcam? Any better?

  • +3

For those who hate warranty, it's $370 shipped from banggood

  • +1

I've been using Xiaomi phones for 6+ years. I had the RN10P for almost a year. It was good phone for the price. Decent screen, camera, speakers, battery, etc. However, MIUI 13 broke my device. There were several minor annoyances but the main one for me was the overheating issue. In 20deg heat using GPS, the phone would overheat and shut down. That didn't happen in 35deg heat under MIUI 12. Whilst this can likely be rectified with a new software update, the issue is it can often take Xiaomi many months to iron out these bugs. I have since switched to the Galaxy A52s 5G & I can honestly say I'd never look at another Xioami phone again unless I was going to flash it with a custom ROM. Amazing hardware for the price but let sound by poor software.

On the camera debate for those considering the RN10P v the Poco F3, whilst the RN10P has the better camera, it isn't amazing. I'd pay the extra few dollars for the Poco F3 in the other Amazon deal for double the storage, more RAM and fantastic SD870 processor (notwithstanding the lack of SD card and headphone jack).

  • what is the latest Redmi / xiaomi phone that still have IR function? looks like they dropped that features in their newer phones already

    • +1

Note 10 pro (this one) definitely has it, it's likely the 11 does but I'm unsure

  • +1

"In order to root your smartphone or install a custom ROM, one of the first conditions that should be fulfilled is unlocking the bootloader.

It’s an easy feat for a few smartphone brands such as Google Pixel or OnePlus but extremely difficult with others. Xiaomi tops that “extremely difficult” category."

    https://fossbytes.com/how-to-unlock-bootloader-on-xiaomi-dev…

    Is that true?

    • +5

Not at all. From my experience Xiaomi phones are one of the easiest to unlock bootloader and flash custom ROM's. The only 'gruelling' bit is waiting period to unlock bootloader.

    • +3

It's not difficult at all with Xiaomi. Only issue is having to wait to unlock it. You need to register your phone to the Mi Account, and then when you use the unlock tool on a PC it will tell you how many days you have to wait.

Usually a week or so, it's annoying but after it's unlocked it's very easy to install a custom rom.

      • Note to anyone here using Linux… there isn't any other way to do this. You need to use the Windows app.

    • You used to have to get an unlock code sent to you.

Now I think it's more streamlined.

    • +2

"Gruelling" no, and while waiting a week is a bit annoying at least it's still an option unlike some other brands out there that just won't let you unlock at all.

You do need to set up a Mi account and use mobile data to request unlock but I have never needed Find my Phone or my location enabled to use unlock tool as mentioned on that site.

From what I recall, the procedure and wait time was supposed to discourage sellers from bulk buying cheap Chinese variants, flashing with "global" ROMs (usually unofficial, sometimes full of malware) and flogging them.

    • I bought one these a few weeks ago. It fitted my requirements very well as I needed dual sim + sd card slot + 3.5mm headphone socket. However, I found it very frustrating to unlock the phone. It took me 3 weeks because of the conflicting guides on how to do this. First, if you do everything right, you have to wait 168 hours (or more) to unlock the phone. If you make a mistake, you will wait another 168 hours. You must have a sim card in the phone and have a Mi account plus other steps.

It took me three attempts. Once that was done, I was able to load TWRP and then Arrow OS. I am very happy with the hardware and my setup, but I won't be buying another Xiaomi phone because of the unlocking obstacles. I think Oppo and Realme make it much easier.

  • If not for the S pen I would have bought a cheaper phone like this…

  • +1

I have this phone (global version) and love it. Especially the "no compromises" as they like to say 2 sim card slot with a 3rd slot for the SD card (good for a data sim or while travelling), the IR blaster is kinda cool (I use it daily), audio jack, NFC and most of all the battery life. A lot of people don't care about all of these, it may not apply to you which is why many phones don't have them. The pre-installed screen protector and provided case is a nice bonus. The case will discolour after a few weeks use, not the best protection either so worth an upgrade. I also got the 128GB model as I like to store media (entire TV series, movies, audiobook and podcasts) on my phone, especially for travelling.

The camera (using 108MP mode) is significantly better than the Note 9 Pros 64MP camera, but it still isn't comparable to an iPhone or Google Pixel. On normal mode it doesn't shoot amazing photos and they tend to come out a bit noisy.

It doesn't have wireless charging, but I barely that myself on older phones. The 33W cable charging is still really good, do wonder if Xiaomi will end up putting 120W fast charging into their note range at some point but it's really not required. I get a solid day life 6am to 9pm if watching a few videos and using the phone quite a lot. If I'm at work it'll easily make it through a workday sitting on 60-80%, which is nice if you're going out directly after work and don't want to charge it in the car.

I haven't been able to get VoLTE/WiFi calling working, note I do have the global version. I'm very much aware of what sim card/phone plan you need to get it to work so it's definitely the phone that isn't supporting it for me. I've tried all the weird hacky ways where you type codes into the dial and it shows that it's enabled as well as apps that take you to hidden settings pages. At the end of the day it's just never worked for me. Just in case this is a big issue for you, it may be different with a UK model but I don't see how.

The fingerprint reader is actually really good imo (for unlocking), I find if it stops working I'll just recalibrate but that happened only once in the year I used my note 9 pro. Hasn't happened with the note 10 pro yet.

I don't do heaps of "gaming" on my phone so can't comment on that specs wise, but for general youtube, films and apps I find it works pretty snappy and can handle multiple apps running easily (the odd app crash is usually network related).

    • -1

      Good summary :)

I hope you don't get downvoted by the keyboard warriors here for sharing your experiences … As for VoLTE, it doesn't work on the RN10P, no matter which Global model (EU, Int, Russian) you're using in Australia on any network.

      • -1

You only get 5 negs a day keyboard warriors. I'm honoured you've chosen me to waste 2 on :)

Try adding some actual value to the thread.

  • Is the camera better on this than the pixel 2xl?
