How do silicone handles hold up after a few years? One of things on my list is getting a decent frypan and pot set but I'm trying to avoid any plastic/silicone handles in hopes they'll last decades like my parents and grandparents equipment (some of those have wood handles) If be interested to hear from anyone who has old pans with silicone fixings as I imagine they are awesome for reducing burn risks.
Those appear to be silicone sleeve over a steel handle.
I have a stainless steel Raco fry pan with one and it's been used as my main fry pan for over 10 years. The silicon has lasted and it still very tight. There is slight tear near the pan end which doesn't affect use. It's been hand washed the entire time.
Note that the silicone is only functional when using on the stovetop/cooktop. If your sticking it in the oven you'll need an oven mitt or tea towel to prevent burns.
How much is it normally ?
