Would be a good deal if it was around the $1k mark. Good find OP, would be good for someone with Binglee giftcards.

    • +7

this is still a good deal at 1.3k.

Sure you can get 3060 machines for less but they don’t come with the good cpu, panel or build quality

      • Exactly

I was going to say this is good for $1,300 because of the CPU, Panel etc

    • +1

This is already a very good deal, you shouldn't expect to get an ASUS with such specs around the $1k mark IMO…

    • Yes. How does this compare value/$s to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/674196?page=1#comment-1159… ?
      Acer Nitro 5 40cm/15.6" i5-11300H 8/512GB m.2/gtx1650 4gb $735.50 BingLee NSW (spare RAM slot, 2x M.2 & SSD). The only lack is USB-C charging.

      • They'd be in different categories - this machine is faster in both CPU and GPU, has a better screen, more RAM, and generally speaking ASUS laptops are better-regarded than Acer. I own both the Nitro 5 and an HP Omen, and I'll say that you can definitely see where costs were kept low on the Nitro, as the machine's build (inside and out) is very basic.

        • Yes for just gamers. If you use Office/Web/Python, the advantage will be diminished & costlier. The A515 40cm screen is very good & better than Apple/MS shiny mirror - I prefer matte & but the mains screen are 3x 4K Dell/Samsung monitors for deep analysis.
Just ordered +8GB for $35. Will add existing M.2 Samsung 970 Evo plus 1TB (or other with RAID 0) & 2TB SSD Samsung 870 QVO as local backup.
I don't care for very fast GPU as I don't have time for virtual games (only the game to change the world for the better - against capitalists ;)
Still far cheaper & the keyboard is better for Office (Numpad for Alt-5 select table in Word & other functionality).
It comes with Thunderbolt, BT 5.1.

The battery might not be as good, but I'm mostly desktop user. Will wait for iGen12 equivalent with full USB-C charging/connectivity & DDR5/PCIe-5… :)

  • pretty good find!

  • nice deal

Yeah I saw this deal after buying the victus. For just $100 more I think it's great value since you get rgb keyboard and probably a better display panel? I assume it has 300 nits 100% sRGB? Also you won't complain about screen wobble? And hopefully this allows you to keep max charge limit to 80% which victus doesn't have

    • I'll let it set it down to 60 or 80%. Very handy to preserve battery life.

    • +2

Hi wiltonson. FYI complain to HP about the victus you purchased because the specs on the website said it was 300 nits when it is actually 250 nits. They will offer you a $100 refund.

As an owner of a G14 Zephyrus, I can firmly say this is an excellent deal. What's really going for this laptop is:
    - 300Hz Screen
    - 5800H (excellent processor)
    - Excellent build quality - Looks really fancy too, definitely doesn't look like it costs the same amount as a MacBook Air

    • I'd take a CNC-milled aluminium unibody over plastic any day of the week. It's the reason why Razer Blades, despite all their QC issues, maintain such an appeal.

      • Absolutely. I love the build quality of the Razers and compare it to MacBooks. They're just a tad bit more expensive than these Asus G series lol

  • How's that mobile 3050Ti perform on latest AAA titles in low settings? I assume they all with playable FPS?

  • Hi, does any one have any info in regarding to battery and screen resolution? I assume it is 1080p?

  • this or the intel nuc x15?

  • +1

    I feel like 300hz is a bit overkill for a rtx 3050ti

    • Yes! It might feel a bit smoother when doing like work related stuff but in games, the fps will never get to like 300 so you'll actually experience the 300hz

      • Depends what you're doing for work, but I can't tell the difference between 60Hz and 165Hz while I'm doing general office stuff.

        • +1

          Play counterstrike you'll get 300fps.

Even performance mode Fortnite will hit over 144hz using dlss at 1080p on a 3050ti I assume.

I can definitely tell from 60hz to 144hz even during office work. Not so much above 144hz.

This seems like an awesome deal
Major con would be no webcam if you also wanted to use this for work (zoom calls etc) but otherwise fantastic value for money
It also says its only got a HDMI 2.0 port, not a hdmi 2.1 so wouldn't be able to connect to a TV for 120hz gaming? (is this true?)

    • +3

No webcam is a deal-breaker for me :(

    • No webcam is very annoying. I have the G14 and this is the one thing which makes it very difficult when on Zoom/Teams calls. I have an external webcam, but I always have to place it on my table which is awkward cause I can't get a front angle that a traditional webcam would get

      • You can get ones that clip onto the top of the laptop/monitor

        • Yea but I'd rather not spend more money on a feature which should have been there in the first place. I'll just work on my webcam placement, and find a solution. I'm having to use my webcam less and less these days, so it's all working out for me anyway

Wow..great laptop. Can this be upgraded to Windows 11?

  • Why does it say OOS? It's not.(It wasn't first, now it is)
    I'm tempted to buy!

Is ram upgradable? Yes it is, anyone know cost?
What's this GPU like for Warzone? Up to 100FPS, way better than my PS5!

Anyone know the weekend that? I no guy that Legion Officeworks deal for 1k, this seems comparable but for $300 more for the GPU.
