[eBay Plus] 70mai Dash Cam M300 (3 Megapixel, 30 FPS / 140° FOV) $50 Shipped @ HT via eBay

1010
MARCH20

Was looking for a replacement for the old Blueskysea B1W and stumbled on 70mai (Xiaomi M300) dash camera. This is the successor to the Xiaomi 70mai Dash Cam 1S which had a lower resolution and smaller FOV. This version is 140 degree FOV and records 2304x1296P (30fps)

See this table for the major differences

The major drawback that I can see is that it uses a Lithium polymer battery (240mah) and these batteries will eventually deteriorate / swell as they age, with the hot Australian summer heat accelerating the degradation you might not expect very good battery life after a while.

There's also no built in display so a smartphone app with Wifi is needed if you want to view footage on the device.

  • Good price for the car cam, last bought about $80 like 2-3 years back

  • Does this one have English audio cues? My existing 70mai says something in a Chinese language every time it starts up.

    • +1

I think I saw on a review video they ditched it. Not 100% sure

    • +4

I just changed the firmware to the English one

    • +1

Yeah I heard it, it says Give Way and Stop signs are optional.

    Good timing. Grabbed one thanks

I ended up buying the 70MAI MiDrive D08 for $69 because it has a built in display. Bit expensive, I didn't like having to install apps just to check if the SD card was still working.

  • Is this better than blueskysea b1w?

These are great. Two of them, hardwired for front and rear would be great combination imo.

People always say "lithium batteries are no good with heat" etc. But all my cameras have been lithium and in the sun for years and they've all lasted. The only reason I replace them is for new features like better resolution or wifi capabilities etc.

I still have G1W dashcam from 2013 running perfectly fine in some cars

    • +3

Probably depends on a lot of factors, leaving windows cracked open, using a sun shade, parking in the shade, not living up north, colour of the car, etc.

Bought one a year ago after a deal on ozbargin, still using it, works perfect and video quality is very good! For $70 odd $ you can’t go wrong with this unit

    • +1

I got the Xiaomi Yi also been using over 2 years now, think most Xiaomi products are pretty good quality, I will never pay over $1k for those Blackvue ones …

      • Exactly my thinking, I’ve seen on ozbargin blackvue cams going for +$800 and this does the same job for a very good price!

  • Is eBay plus worth it just for this deal

    • +1

Only if you get the $40 or $50 coupon for joining. You won't be able to stack and use that coupon on this, you will have one month to use it.

    • Yes definitely can signup for one month.

    • There's a free trial. But yes, $5 is worth it.

  • Pity code can only be used once. Good deal

  • does it still work after u turn off the car at nights?

    • +1

      "24H Parking Surveillance
Keep monitoring when you are away*. The built-in G-sensor detects sudden shakes or collisions while your car is off, and starts recording to capture any potential incidents.

If an emergency video is captured, you'll get a voice alert once the M300 is powered back on."

So yes, it will monitor for events when car is parked. It can do that so long as there's battery juice.

      • Where did you find this? TBH I'm not sure if the G sensored parking mode is enabled on this using only the cigarette socket power cable, because many other sources states that parking mode requires the hardwire kit to be enabled.

        • on 70mai's own product page it's listed as a feature. https://www.70mai.com/m300/

On their forums https://int-bbs.70mai.com.cn/?thread-1189.htm it does also say "The parking surveillance function can be enabled only after the parking surveillance cable( 70mai hardwire kit) is installed."

so yeah it won't run fully on battery power and will require the extra cable to be installed.

  • Thanks OP.

  • Given its 4.99 a month and you save $20. Yep. Just cancel it after first month.

As I have already used the code, found this on Kogan. Anyone know if it would be as good?

  • I have seen 70mai 1s for 54$ on amazon.
Just curious to know which one is better?

    • +1

This is newer model that replaces 70mai 1S with high FOV, higher resolution and it's $50 ($4 cheaper).

  • +1

Code only works for a single unit it appears. If I add two my cart total is $120.

    • +1

The coupon code is good for one use only and takes $20 off eligible items, once per eBay user, on a per-cart basis (not per-item). Cannot buy two units and have 2x $20 discounts.

  • Could anyone recommend a comparable capacity dashcam?

How long will the battery last if the vehicle is parked outside in the very hot city (Perth, WA). I have heard 1-5 years but I doubt the battery will last more than two years in a hot climate exposed to direct sunlight.

Just bought one. More stock might have been added. Thanks OP.

      • Yes definitely new stock added. Thanks and bought

  • Sorry, how do you charge these, at home, when driving, or do you need to hard wire into the battery? Thanks

    • Plug into cigarette socket in car.

      • Thanks

  • Could anyone who already has this model confirm if parking mode can be enabled just with the cigarette socket? getting conflicting info.

    • No only works with hardware kit. I have 1s model and this M300.

      • Ok, thank you for your reply, does it work well with the hardwire kit? Any issues with the car's battery draining?

  • -1

Went OOS just before I bought. Was disappointed. Came back when they added more stock, OOS again.

    • The rose gold version is still available - see comment above.
