The price vs the quality/size simply does not stack up anymore for Nandos.

Years ago I would eat Nandos all the time. Now there are much better and cheaper options.

If you are in Sydney try Frangos and you will know what I am talking about.

agreed ordered the other night, 80 dollars for some soggy chips, a burger, wrap, pita and paella. pretty insane.

        what about if in melb?

Give Capricho Grill a go if you have one near you. It was started by a woman who was a Nandos franchisee who they messed with to the point she started her own. Very similar menu with a focus on Habanero instead of Peri Peri. Burgers are better in my honest opinion. Chips are generally crispier and the option of chicken salt is nice.

Nando's never figured out how to deliver chips. When I used to work there, the biggest delivery complaint was soggy chips.

Didn't help that the moron cooks would dunk the chips in the deep fryer 20 minutes before the pickup time on the docket.

      Frangos is charcoal, tastes better

I hear ya. Nandos chickens are very small compared to others. The value just isn't there.

      • Agree. They seem to get smaller and smaller

    • +1

Especially since they changed the sauces. No, I don't want the gross capsicum relish thanks.

Every Nandos I've been to has been different

      Nando's is heavy franchise based

The quality of the Sydney (CBD) based one could be better, then again I can't imagine how much rent they pay.

I havent been in a while due to Covid, but the one in Glebe is the best I've had in Sydney.

Having said that, when i use to go to Melbourne more frequently, I noticed they were on another level, and actually baste the chicken with the 'hot' i requested

      • Nandos bought back (or took back) almost all the stores in WA. I think there's only 3 franchisees now. The quality at the stores run by HQ is terrible.

Not sure what the deal is in other states.

        • Which ones are still franchisee?

Are they waiting for the contracts to run out or they are poor performing stores?

      • Glebe is definitely the best near me. Which is just too far and requires one to be organised.

I always order with instructions for "extra basting" and "well done" … most places have cooks that don't cook the chicken enough, so well done is more like cooked perfectly (minimal char).

    • 100%.

Recently made an order and cost me about 60-70 and when I received the order, the quantities were a joke. I’d rather visit 2 people international food buffet for that price.

    • Theres no frangos or el jannah anywhere near here

The only way to eat it is fresh at the store…

      Username checks out!

I feel the same. It just doesn’t taste as good and not to mention the free sauce you can use in-store

  • +5

Price of 1/4 chicken went up from $6.95 to $8.95 in the last few months! What an absolute joke!

    • Will be getting worse now with transport costs and a clueless LNP government

      • +1

DELIVERED ITEMS ARE MARKED UP TOO BOOO

    • +2

Everything went up, except wages : (

  • No delivery for me

    • mixed platter whole chicken > whole PERi chkn+1 L side …

Every Nandos within a 50000km radius has closed it seems

    • A lot of Nando's in the flooded and surrounding areas are having a hard time getting stock at the moment.

  • For those with Maxxia meals card, extra $5 off (no minimum spend). Been getting seriously large chips for $1.36 after stacking it with 20% off from another deal.

  • The only way nandos is ok value is if you eat in store and can use as much of the sauce as you like. Even then….

I used to order it years ago all the time, but the value just isn't there anymore. I think there is a reason why there are less and less Nando's stores around… Now I have to travel almost 30 minutes to get to one since so many have closed, and I live in Balwyn (inner east suburb of Melbourne).

  • +1

I must be rare who thinks Nandos is a lot better than Frangos. Yes you do get better value due to the larger servings and price point at Frangos

    • Fully agree! Nandos are just not very good at the business side of things (make it unviable for franchisees to survive)! If you are ordering Hot or Extra Hot, there is very little out there that can compare to Nandos (when done right which is, unfortunately, a hit & miss)…Frangos is good but the chicken makes me wonder about steroids etc.

(Full disclaimer: I have no affiliation whatsoever with Nandos. I do however have loyalty points sitting unused because every store I used to go to has closed down.)

  • I am eligible for free delivery but a bit annoyed they mark it as "free delivery" when they mark up their delivery prices (even though it's around $2). Poor form from Nando's

    • Absolute joke they jack up the price. Not free delivery at all!

      • how much was it before?

        • Not sure.. didn't bother ordering after seeing the prices changed

  • No Whole Chicken Mixed Platter on the menu and $5 more expensive to deliver
