ITNO Kayex Boot (Black or Brown) $39.99 (RRP $159.99) + $10 Delivery ($0 C&C/ $130 Order) @ Platypus Shoes

No idea about the brand, but its real leather at least. Not as nice looking as the R.M. Williams though, but for that price its a no brainer.

At $39.99, its cheaper than getting a pair of R.M. Williams Boots resoled.

I go through 2 to 3 boots a year (branded and no name brand). Actually just wore out 2 Wild Rhino Boots (They are supposedly still hand made in Portugal) in 5 months, alternating 2 days wear each a week. Luckily bought them both on sale for under $100. The lace up Wild Rhino boots last much longer. I use orthotics which wear out the structure and shank of the soles faster and the floors at my work seem to eat the rubber soles up. For me, no point getting a pair of $399 boots on sale, as the inner structure and shank would still be worn and twisted/bent. So even resoled the shoe would still be worn. I've done multiple resoles in the past. Took a while to figure this out. In the end its worked out better for me to buy a pair of midrange shoes on sale (Eg $200 pair on sale to $100 or less) and junk them every 12 months.

ITNO is a Platypus house brand. Not saying this is a good or bad thing, just noting.

Any idea on the quality? Although I'm guessing would be some generic made in China shoe. For that price, cheap enough to try lol

      • Not sure on quality. I only have a pair of their white leather sneakers from a deal posted on here, but they are too narrow for me so haven't worn them. My shoes say made in Portugal.

    • will be on constant rotation for years to come

Obviously they are not going to last for years, but as OP said, $40 isn't bad for some decent-looking boots.
If they fall apart after just a few weeks, you should be able to claim a refund under ACL.

      • Under normal wear-and-tear conditions, you'd expect something having this RRP to last at least one year. ACL requires a warranty for a "reasonable" time period, so you could still make a good case within 12 months.

  • Looks like it's delivery only - no CC in NSW…

Got the shoes on Friday. Amazingly fast postage from Perth to Melb. Only had a chance to look at them now.
The Kayax is a little rough and very chunkly. Thick leather though. Runs about a size large. Will return as not suitable for office. But great for outdoors work.

The Rustic on the other hand is an absolute steal for this price. Leather quality and finish is very good. Fits perfect. Not narrow at the front so the toes aren't squashed. Sole is good thickness, not so thin that you feel you are walking barefoot and its reasonable firm to provide enough support
