which pet shop is this if I may ask?

      • -7

        My local petbarn

        • Hmm decided to check you sweeping claim by picking one random item, and comparing price of your “cheaper” store and this deal. I went bravecto spot on for very large dogs-

          Result petbarn $115.99
          Here $82.50

          Plus 20% CR on top!

Why make sweeping unsubstantiated statements like that🤬? Not helpful just negative.

          • @Captain Hindsight: Mate, simply stated a fact. Just because your random item you searched doesn't match my claim doesn't mean it isn't true…

            • +2

@Herb Utsmellz: Actually mate it does.

Your claim “ Even with 25% still above what I pay down the road.”

A sweeping claim implies everything is above what you’d pay down the road so even 1 item would disprove your argument. But it’s not just 1 item and based on comments there are some bargains.

I’m not saying PB won’t have some items cheaper, but you imply everything is cheaper.

Sweeping comments like that without specifics, unsubstantiated and negative don’t have a place in OB.

              • -1

@Captain Hindsight: Actually mate I was referring to the one item that I regularly buy which is the item i looked up. Also I think those that have never purchased through mpw might appreciate knowing that they have terribly slow shipping (in my experience) you seem to be getting quite butthurt over feedback on a deal that you aren't associated with, or aren't you? They have a bad track record for sockpuppeting…

                • +2

@Herb Utsmellz: No, just find your comments more misleading, insensitive and mean spirited rather than helpful.

                  • +1

@Captain Hindsight: Have to agree here. Not sure why would someone neg a whole deal over 1 product out of the whole shop that is more expensive then 'down the road' but then call out someone that actually then goes to do some research.

Bottom line is no store can go through their whole inventory and make sure they are the cheapest with everything. This is why some of the big players offer price matching instead of spending the time to check prices on a daily basis. Most places stick with a RRP advice of the company, others may choose to lower that RRP (poor selling item, better buying power, excess stock, sales etc).

I have used Pet Warehouse in the past and found some good everyday bargains and shipping wasnt slow. With 25% off its pretty obvious that there will be plenty of bargains that cant be bought down the road. Will all the thousands of stock they offer be a bargain? most likely not but i wouldnt be negging a deal over it….

Terrible prices even after discount and cashback.

Random question, does anyone have recommendations for dog food biscuits around the 20kg sizing. I usually go Black Hawk but the prices aren't great and wonder if anyones found something cheaper but still good quality?

      Ivory Coat

    • +2

Avoid Ivory Coat! At all costs!
I feed my dog Canidae or Taste Of The Wild but they are quite pricey. I have heard Meals For Mutts is good but I think that's a bit more expensive too. Black Hawk is fine but far from the best…
BUT DO NOT FEED YOUR DOG IVORY COAT!

      • Care to elaborate?

        • Used to feed my dog this until I went to recommend it to somebody and found heaps of people stating it was killing dogs. Too many people to just ignore. I had a brand new bag and being a tightass I wanted to keep feeding it to her but honestly I had to ask if it was worth the risk…it might be fine, but is it worth risking? Took it back, got a refund. Years later I keep wanting to go back but keep finding more people saying it. I heard they were Australian but bought by a Chinese company. Might all be BS but nobody wants to risk their dogs life

@Puglife: Would love to read some info on it. Have heard nothing but good things from breeders, vets and trainers.

              @Herb Utsmellz: https://m.facebook.com/AustralianPetOwnersGroup/posts/alert-…
The list goes on… I agree until 2 years ago I was happy with it and i never had an issue. It could all be BS, it might be anything making the dogs ill. But I feel like people should be warned. Pet Food regulation in Australia is basically non existent which is why I mostly buy American imported food now.
Sorry to be a bit doomsday but I would be devastated if by feeding my dog better food it ended up killing her. If there is a chance it's bad I'm not going to risk it

              • @Puglife: I think what happened to ivory coat is it changed company owners, as after the ownership change there were instances of the food killing pets :'(

          • @Puglife: I can only speak from my experience, but my Frenchie has been on Ivory Coat for the last couple of years and we have not had any issues. She's currently on the Ocean Fish variant and she loves it. She has been declared cancer free for almost 2 years after going through SRT treatment for brain/nasal tumour and she's as healthy as we have seen her before she got sick. If Ivory Coat is as bad as some people claim it to be, a dog like ours with severely compromised immune system would surely show it after being on the food for long term?

We do however mix Ivory Coat with some Ziwi Peak air dried food and Ziwi Peak wet food as well.

There might be some truth in those reviews, but at the same time I think some dog owners will try to blame anything and everything when something's wrong with their pet.

I was also tempted to switch to a different food when I read about the change in owners etc but I find switching food around is sometimes the worst thing you can do.

          • @Puglife: When I read up on this last year there were hardly any reports. It just sounded like people were repeating the same story over and over but looking at product review now there seems to be a lot of people having issues

I thought it was a coincidence at first, maybe something else was causing it etc but I think we'll stop feeding ours ivory coat after this. Our dog is 5 years old and has been eating it since we got him with no issues. Has vomited (rarely) but it could be from anything as his diet is varied - raw/cooked meats, rice, veggies etc

    • I feed my dogs absolute holistic

    • black hawk working dog is not a bad price. i normally give 2/3 of what i would normally give in the general adult and add rice and thawed frozen veg as a filler.

Cat litter was extremely cheap, and with the added cash back it became dirt cheap.

  • +3

Excludes Meals for Mutts. Never seen that as an exclusion. Devo!

    • I was thinking the same thing. Very strange

    • Is weird, Do you get that for allergies?

      • MfM is just a higher quality food for a reasonable price. Good hypoallergenic and grain free options - so yeah, can be good for allergies.

        • Have you tried Canidae with salmon good for allergies for my dog as no grain or chicken. Not cheap though.

          • +1

@Captain Hindsight: Nah I haven't but heard good things.

          • @Captain Hindsight: MfM about $5/kg. Canidae usually about $9/kg. Not convinced it's almost twice as good.

            • @YOTR: yeah MFM definitely cheaper, it was one of the only dog foods we could find without chicken or rice which our vet thinks our dog has allergy to.

Sadly he preferred Canidae (also no rice or chicken in the salmon) and my wife insisted he put on more weight while on MfM.

    • +1

Hills stock everywhere seems to have a shortage even the prescription dry food had to check out 3-4 sites to find it.

Just ordered 4 x Breeders Choice 30L. Last time I paid $87.96 and received $$3.96 cashback. This time paid $80.96 and will get $16.19 Cashback. Seems like a good deal for me. We have 5 cats in the house. And postage is FREE.

    • +3

You ever tried wood pellet litter w/ a sifting tray? Never have to worry about that piss smell again, especially having 5 indoors.

  • Not a single Canidae for cats in stock.

    • Next best anyone? Taste of the wild?

  • +1

Good deal. Shame they don't have any Ziwi Peak wet food in Venison flavour in stock :(
