  • $2599 on dell website, so there’s already some pre discount on the eBay price.

  • are you sure it's 130w? cooling isn't that good in G15, as far as I remember there's no chassis refresh this generation

  • Not sure, saw that in this pre-review
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E12G01X-aT0

    It's newest G15, can't find a proper review.

  • +3

For anyone looking to get this, you should know that this year’s G15 only have one m.2 slot. The other is intentionally removed-the space is empty on the mobi where the m.2 connector should have been. If storage upgrade is on the menu (which it is since 512gb is not remotely enough) your only option is to replace the stock drive and reinstall the system or to use an external disk with far lower speeds limited by USB standards.

I would be also watching out for for temps since temps were not great in last year’s model which this year had the exact same cooling system and chassis of. With the GPU at 130 watts it’s questionable how much gains you would be looking at from the 12700h since intel are very power hungry as far as performance scaling is concerned and I wouldn’t be surprised- since Jarrod’sTech haven’t done a review it-that the actual CPU numbers would be worse than competitors and only slightly better than last gen.

    • Thanks for that. Well that's definitely convinced me to buy the Lenovo legion 5, 16or17inch. 5800h - gtx 3060. Going to cost a bit more but in a year or so I would regret buying the dell if I did.

      • Yeah, looking at that too.
        There is a deal on on ebay on Legion 5 (17inch) 5800h gtx 3060 1TB SSD - $1999

  • are Dell laptops easy to open if I need to upgrade RAM or HDD ?

  • Both do not have hdmi 2.1

"We've found the issue regarding the HDMI 2.1. It requires a minimum of 8 lanes to run at 4k at 120Hz but the configuration of the system's bandwidth is divided into two. The other one is for the internal LCD uses and the other x4 lanes is for the HDMI 2.1 uses.
