          Try doing it incognito.

Lenovo will take payment when it ships.

          • +1

            @CodeXD: Thanks for your answer

Works incognito, also works when you log out of your lenovo account.

        • Do Lenovo put a hold on your card for the first order? When I placed my order they only put a hold of $1 for card verification and only held the whole amount the next day. Checked again today and all pending changes are gone. Kinda weird.

          • @zizoubka: I paid through Paypal and there wasn't a $1 hold. The amount just shows as "pending" in paypal and wasn't deducted from my bank.

  • Is this worth jumping on? I recently got the stingray legion 5i deal and it got delivered broken so my trust for Lenovo is low to say the least

With new gaming laptops coming out soon is it worth holding off?

    • With all the delays in shipping and shortage of computer parts I doubt prices are going to go down as quickly as we expect. You could try holding off till end of financial year sales and see if you can snag a bargain then. I reckon businesses will anticipate this and try to milk buyers as long as possible and get rid of old stock or new stock with last gen chipsets while keeping the latest stuff at a premium. I've been on the fence for over a week now for this
      https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09S3FP4VR/ref=ox_sc_act_t…
It seems like a great deal as anything in Aus is almost $3000.
So in the end we just need to make the decision and stick with it I guess.

      • Are you planning to game on that laptop?

        • No, its purely for office related tasks. Remote into my Office PC, run MS Office, run teams, have a few tabs open on a browser and have enough juice for on-site stints. So the LG Gram suits that perfectly. I have a gaming desktop for games.

I bought the Legion 5 Pro 3050 version last year for the same price as the 3060 version is going for. I don't game, but needed the horsepower for development (and the upgradability). I love mine, and have upgraded it with a second SSD and 64GB RAM.
    Pros:
    1. Really fast! I moved up from an 8th Gen i7 laptop and this thing kicks it!
    2. Screen is top notch - I really, really love the display on this thing. Bright, high resolution, good colour and 165hz refresh rate
    3. Keyboard is quite good, reasonable travel. It has RGB lighting if that matters, but I just have mine set to white
    4. Lots of ports, including 1GBe Ethernet
    5. Upgradability! Too many machines have RAM soldered (for almost no space saving I'll add, the SO-DIMM outline is printed on the PCB!). This one has two SO-DIMM Slots, and two m2 slots.

    Cons:
    1. The battery life isn't the greatest (probably only about 5 hours),
    2. Track-pad is pretty crappy - often missing clicks etc.
    3. Weight - this one weighs about 2KG - or about as much as my old 15" MacBook Pro. I don't find it too heavy in a backpack, but if weight is a concern it's something to watch for. The 3060/3070 version comes with a 300W supply (vs the 230W mine came with). That adds a bit of bulk too.
    4. WiFi - mixed bag what you'll get here - I got a MediaTek Wi-Fi 6 MT7921 - consider buying an Intel Wifi card to replace whatever you get.
    5. No card reader - not a big deal, but they're still useful.

I think the 3060 version is a fantastic deal at $1819!

  • anyone bought from lenovo store before and can comment on the quoted shipping time. are they accurate, or is it possible to get them earlier ?

    • +2

Hey, made the account to reply, I made an order on the 26th, I have an estimated ship date of april 6th. Custom order, 3070 etcetc.

      • Hey! i had the same estimated shipping date as you too but now it's been pushed back to April 6. Is it the same for you?

        • *april 13, sorry!

          • +1

@yunsul: Yep, same, from what I have read the estimates are really rough and people typically get it early, estimate april 16th for example and then ships on the 2nd out of nowhere.

  • +2

So I placed a custom order for the 3070 L5 Pro on 24 March and the shipping portal just updated this morning to say that it will be shipped on 6 April, with an expected arrival of 19 April. So significantly shorter than the 8+ weeks quoted time on the website when customising the laptop. Fingers crossed that it actually sticks to that shipping schedule!

  • -2

Just placed an order for the new 7th gen 5i Legion Pro which has just released today! 12th gen intel core with rtx 3070Ti for just under 2.7k or 2.5k with cashback. Performance completely annihilates the older AMD models that others have just wasted money on.. Under 8 week shipping time as well!

    • +2

Nice! You got in just before the code expired. I was contemplating that but stuck with the non pro Legion 5i gen 7 instead. Same specs but less bright screen.

AMD version is fine for longer battery life and isn't too far behind in performance in gaming (especially at high 1440p settings where it depends more on GPU), I wouldn't call it a waste.

      • +1

Nah it’s proven that Lenovo limits the TGP for the non pro legion 5s at 130-135W instead of 140W for the 5 pros. Granted it only results in less than 5% performance but it is still there.

Build quality and cooling is significantly better on the 2022 pro which is why I cancelled my 5i non pro order once I had the opportunity. Aluminium build for the lid and base for the pro vs plastic for the non pro, coupled with only 1 year warranty makes the latter the no brainer in longevity.

Bigger brighter and HDR screen are all advantages of the pro at a $200 difference in cost which is why I pulled the trigger on it.

        • +1

This year's Legion 5 has aluminium chassis & lid and the TGP is 140W

          • @nenjih: Ended up cancelling 5i pro gen7 order which I my originally canceled my 5i non pro gen7 to place it for 2021 legion 7 with rtx 3080 165w.

Total price was 2.8k after cashback and will arrive before the next gen laptops anyways, expected shipping date increased to end of May for the gen 7 models.

            • @Browndog69: Where did you get the Legion 7 for that price? Was it also from the lenovo website during the same sale as this one? The AMD version is out of stock and the 7i is way more than 2.8k.

              • @nenjih: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/694857

During the recent promotion by Cashback with the TA code, yeah only the 7i was available this time. The AMD models and the newer gen 7 were excluded from the recent sale so you still got a good bargain.

                • @Browndog69: Ah I see, well hope you get yours earlier than I do lol, I'm gonna have to settle in for the long wait. Chip shortage and CCP lockdowns I guess.

    • Got a link? All the 5i Legion Pro I can see on the website are 11th gen intel. Only the non-pro has 12th gen.

  • +1

Luckily people bought this when they could, price has gone up to $934,999.07 for the most expensive model!

  • Any new promo code or student discount ? I wanted to buy this

  • Anyone got links to faster ram upgrade. The ram that ships with this is pretty slow. Links will help a lot of people.

  • +1

My laptop shipping date changed to the 16th then today changed to expected to ship April 7th,today. Yay.
I figured the original dates and 8 week shipping date was worst case scenario.

    • +1

Yep, same, I am figuring its american time so should hopefully be sometime tomorrow.

      • +1

Yep same, that's what I was thinking too. Lenovo servers are in USA so on US time.

    • +1

Mine too! And then it changed to April 8… slightly worried that they're slowly pushing it back haha.

      • Mine says April 8th now. Looks like it's going to keep changing each day. I bet not going to actually ship for over a week and the payment $2k is still pending anyways.

Anyone know where these ship from because as far as I can tell on the Internet they ship directly from China. If that's the case they could be delayed with all the covid19 lockdowns in China at the moment.

        • +1

Yeah they say customs ship from a factory in china, estimate for shipping is 10 days, though I do think that is a bit high from my experience with international shipping even in covid.
Also as for the ram you asked about my research suggests this should work
          https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08C4X9VR5/ref=cbw_us_au_dp_ags…
Its prob something I will do down the line, bit expensive for me to drop on it at the moiment. The thing to know is the laptops will not do xmp so the thing you want to find is its jedec.

        • +1

          I got the same experience.
Originally said April 6. April 6th came and gone, now it says April 8
Not expecting this to ship anytime soon :(

        • +1

Aaaaand it's now April 14! This is nerve wracking.

          • @yunsul: Hahaha. Same here 14th April now.

            • +1
              • @MARK577: Seeing as this is happening to all of us makes me not so worried. Still a bit annoying though but was prepared to wait 8 weeks anyways.

                • +1

@mckayver: Yeah, my issue is I kind of compulsively check even though it now says the 14th, not worried just annoyed at my own habits more than anything.

                  • @MARK577: Everyone else is doing the exact same thing. Hahaha

                  • +1

@MARK577: Mine shipped today and says shipped from East China. Got this message by Email.

"Your order is now on its way to you.
Occasionally, we may ship items from different places. You'll be invoiced as items are dispatched and never pay more than one shipping charge per order".

Been charged twice now with both pending. Lenovo ordering system sucks. Lol
                    Gigabyte is still worse though.

Now they have done a second transaction I think cashrewards($173) may not work.

                    • +1

@mckayver: Mine shipped today too, exciting! I sure hope the Cashrewards works still since it's not really our fault with Lenovo's weird ordering method.

                      • @yunsul: Have you been charged twice.

                        • +1

@mckayver: Technically only once because the previous 'charges' were just authorisation holds on the funds. They have renewed the authorisation hold 3 times though. I've never used Cashrewards so I'm not sure what their policy is with Lenovo or other retailers with weird payment practices but it's not the consumer's fault at all how they operate - so I hope that we'll still be able to get the cashback.

                        • +1

@mckayver: DHL cannot move the shipment or attempt delivery due to a local issue or restrictions imposed by the regulatory authorities.
                          Either of you getting this?

                          • @MARK577: Yep, I knew this was going to happen. see my comment above (8th April) about covid-19 restrictions in China.
I have the exact same message as you.

My friend in East China says everything is in lockdown. He was allowed out for an hour this morning to buy vegetables. Lol

                            • +1

@mckayver: Getting the same message too. Really unfortunate.. do you guys reckon it'll take weeks more for it to actually leave China?

                              • +1

@yunsul: Called them to ask, no eta, she did say that they recently started freight up again but there is a backlog and told me to call back if its not moved in a couple days since they might have an update at that point.

                                • @MARK577: I don't think the lady from DHL actually new what's going on. Nothing is moving until the lockdown is lifted.

                                  • +1

@mckayver: No other choice but to see, I called again yesterday and the rep said that freight was moving again as of last monday, just a lot of backlog, so at the very least the 2 had a consistent story and related timing.

                              • +1

@yunsul: Our laptops are being held captive by the CCP. Lol
Nobody knows how long it will be before the cpp lifts the restrictions.
Hopefully the laptops get out of the country before China invades Taiwan. Lol

@mckayver: Yeah, I got the exception message from DHL too. On hold in East China. I haven't called DHL yet but I guess since everyone experiencing this it may just be a delay with the freight/restrictions. Hope it doesn't take too long. It was ordered 24 March, shipped 11 April but not expected to arrive until 22 April.

"To protect your privacy, more delivery details are available after validation

                                @yunsul: probably months not weeks

                    • +1

@mckayver: Mine shipped too, so I have the opposite issue. They initially did a hold of the funds, that dropped off and they have not yet made a charge to the account, so will just keep the money in there I guess.

                      • +1

@MARK577: My expected to ship date just moved to the 21st :(

                      • @MARK577: My cash rewards est date of approval is 27-6-2022.

  • +1

I was directed by DHL to contact Lenovo in relation to the exception/hold of items in East China. Lenovo replied they will check with logistics and email back. At this stage, don't think the item will arrive by the expected date of 22nd per their website.

    • Keep us updated if you get an email from lenovo. I'm assuming that when the lockdown lifts the backlog is so massive it will take a while before they get on a plane to Australia.

      • +1

This was the email Lenovo sent back… basically no ETA. The Lenovo portal shows still as expected to arrive on 22nd Apr which is not likely :

Please be advised that the shipment of your order was on hold in export customs in Shanghai due to lockdown.

DHL teams are unable to provide any ETA at the moment and need to wait for the local authority's next instructions.

We will keep you updated along the way via your order tracking page, OVP.

        • So basically DHL and lenovo have no idea. Hahaha.

          • +1

            @mckayver: Yea :(

I think it will depend on when the lockdown lifts in Shanghai - could be months.

My worry now is that the package(laptop) may be damaged due to the long hold time…

            • +1

@misshi: So they described it to me as the shipments from that time period bound for Australia are all on a large palette so its prob more protected than a loose box banding around even if yours is on the outside.

            • @misshi: I know what you mean. Maybe in a roof leaking 45c warehouse. Lol

I think what mark577 said is correct. All our laptops would be on a pellet bound with plastic wrap or something like that. They'll be fine.

The lockdowns are slowly being lifted. Now the problem is the backlog.
              Will be weeks not months.

People are screaming at night from their apartments so I can't see the CCP keeping them lockdown much longer. Have a look at the YouTube video. Lol

              https://youtu.be/RBJj_UwkSyc

              • +1

                @mckayver: Good day to you.

Apologize, Shanghai is still under lockdown and this is out of control.

DHL is unable to confirm the ETA at the moment.

We understand that you might need your order urgently.

In case you’re not able to wait for the machine, we can offer you the options below:

                1) We can arrange a call back from one of our sales consultants to discuss an alternative model for you. Let us know your preferred contact number along with the best time for us to ring you (Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 5.00 pm).

                OR

                2) We can arrange cancellation and a full refund for your order.

Please let us know your preference.

Not sure if to wait for the laptop or get a refund…

                • +1

@misshi: What was the expected shipping time when you ordered? A lot of them had 8+ weeks shipment date especially if you had customisation.

                  • @CodeXD: Yeah the laptops have shipped but are stuck in transit with DHL in shanghai.
It was 8+ weeks to ship when ordered so they did ship early. The 8+ weeks stated when ordered is the expected shipping date not the delivery date, Difference.

                    • @mckayver: At least the lenovo rep reassured me that the laptops would arrive non damaged. Not sure how long the wait though and if worth waiting:

Do not worry, the machine will be delivered in good condition.

In case you receive a damaged/scratched machine upon delivery, you can request for return 7 days after the delivery date.

We can arrange for a replacement or a full refund.

                      • @misshi: We'll that's good to know. It's definitely worth the wait because we're not going to get a better deal.
Maybe if the newer models come out with the same discount by the time we receive them. That could be problem. Lol

I wonder what the return address is. On the Internet Looks like the RMA Australia address is in NSW.

@mckayver: My order has just changed to "Clearance processing complete at EAST CHINA AREA - CHINA MAINLAND" - not too sure what this means - possibly it will be put on a plane soon?

                                        • @yunsul: Oh crap same here on hold. New it was too good to be true.

                                                    @mckayver: Yay :)

I hope that DHL will allow scheduling for delivery - they usually do

                                                    • @misshi: iirc they leave a card asking you to call to schedule one, though that was years ago for me.

                                                    • @misshi: Just call dhl and ask. Wouldn't want to risk them leaving it at the front door even though a signature is required.

Everything seems to work fine and it arrived in perfect condition! Anyone have any resources on what to check for and tips on how to set it up?
