Sounded promising but some of the reviews (<1yr old) scared me off.

    • Been using pro S with sensor over ayear, works really well with home automation
Multiple IR remotes essentially not required anymore but I paid around $25 for that

      • The setup sounded very hit & miss. What was your experience?

I’ve had no problems with mine. Easy to set up. I use it to control a Samsung TV and Sony Hi Fi through Alexa and Google Home.

I've also had no issues with mine. They do have a fragmented app ecosystem but - they've got multiple different apps that perform similar functions (most/all of whicih are still available? https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=BroadLink).

But I've had no issues with both the RM4pro and the RM4mini via the Broadlink app.

Having said that, you can't perform some functions that I was interest in doing in that app, such as exporting the IR/RF codes from the app for use elsewhere (like Home Assistant).

      • Yeah I picked up some of the minis during Black Friday last year for $25 ea

        • only RF/ IR can be used
For wifi tv only roku protocols are supported
I just use the basic features
          power,volume,input,channels,etc
It was able to pick up tv model when i added new device
For dyson fan I had bit of trouble but eventually got the remote to learn the code

  • Was looking into smart home stuff. Can this turn an LG tv on. Think they are controlled via bluetooth. How does it control the LG tv in this case?

    • Bluetooth - no.

      Infrared - yes.

RF (433 MHz) - yes, if you get the pro. No for the mini - it is IR only.

  • Affirmative
I control a lg tv via this but it is IR
    Other items that I tried
Aircon, ceiling fan, settopbox, dyson fan, android tv,
Essentailly any IR code can be potentially replicated

    • So with the LG tv any missing functions?

  • Very happy with the RM Mini S, but paid $25 in January and the S model also comes with the sensor cable.
**Disclaimer: It doesn't work as well with my older Panasonic split system - something to do with directional vs bidirectional IR or something like that.. :/ **

    • What's the difference between S model and non S model? I can't find any information on their website.

  • Didnt work well for my aircond
I programmed a daily schedule and it only managed to turn it on intermittently

  • If your stuff is IR, these work great. I had all kinds of automated stuff set up on my old TV. Link it to alexa, it's very powerful.

If you've the old remote for a device, it can learn the buttons as well, so no looking up lists unless you've lost the old one.

. I loved it. I ask alexa to turn the TV on, she turns on the smart socket, the RM waits 5 seconds, turns on the TV (mine was auto standby mode from power off), RM turns on led back lights behind the telly, RM turns my soundbar on, bang away I go.

It's a great way to make older non integrated devices work together with home automation, and it's a truly fantastic way to be able to hide your remotes and use the stuff you want either directly from the smart phone app, or from voice control if that's your bag.

Original setup wasn't amazingly fun, but tbf, I didn't read the manuals, so….

  • Damn no deal on the Mini S.

    • What's the difference between S model and non S model? I can't find any information on their website.

      • USB cable has a built in temperature and humidity sensor instead of the plain cable with the non S models.

  • Any experience with this and logitech harmony with home assistant?

    • I've got experience with the Broadlinks with Home Assistant.

0 experience with Harmony with Home Assistant.

Anything in particular you needed to know?

One thing I strongly recommend to use the Broadlinks with Home Assistant is SmartIR, which you can easily install via HACS

      • would you be open to discuss this, rather than go back and forward on the comments of this deal, you could pm me to discuss. That'd be awesome. thanks mate.
